Chapter 32

Lucas’s POV,

I sat in the kitchen, I had been drinking some. My head was all over the place. I just couldn’t see Scarlet coming out of this with me still with her. I didn’t know what to do to help her and the only person who was helping was Darren. I looked up when I heard someone walk into the kitchen. It was Darren and he looked tired. “I need to talk with you.” He said. I pointed to the table for him to have a seat with me.

“Do you want a drink?” I asked him.

“Yeah, that would be nice.” I poured him a shot and set it in front of him. “We have a major problem.” He said.

“You think?” I said.

“Seriously Lucas, She just asked me to get her pregnant again.” He said. I could feel the anger start to build up inside of me. I took the shot glass I had in my hands and threw it against the wall. Darren didn’t even flinch.

“So what are you trying to tell me? Are you going to fuck her Darren?” I snapped.

“No Lucas, I told her no.” He said. “She needs help Lucas, help we cant give her.” He said and took his shot.

“I’m going to talk to her and she is going to listen to me,” I said.

“You can’t do that Lucas. You could make things worse, but maybe if you went in there and you offered her a baby?” He said. I looked at him like he was crazy.

“Are you crazy? That’s not the answer.” I said.

“She is so broken and it was hard not to give her what she wanted. I think you should go in there and talk to her Lucas, but you can’t go in there and tell her that she is crazy.” He said. “Do you love her enough to do this Lucas?” He asked me.

“Do what? I’m not giving her a baby right now. It’s not happening.” I said.

“Then are you strong enough to tell her no?” He asked. I sat back down and just put my face in my hands.

“This is so fucked,” I said.

“I have a doctor coming to see her first thing tomorrow Lucas but I think you should go talk to her tonight,” Darren said. I took one more shot and started to head to her room. I open the door and she turned and looked at me. She took a deep breath. I walked in and closed the door behind me. I walked over to her bed and took a seat. She sat there and looked at me.

“Do you love me Scarlet?” I asked her. She just looked at me. “I asked you a question?” I said in a demanding voice. She looked down. “Is it true, did you ask him to give you a baby?” I asked. She nodded her head at me. “How could you do that?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” She said softly but still wouldn’t look at me.

“Doing that is not going to bring her back Scar,” I said. “I’m trying here Scar, I’m trying to understand what your going through, but you have pushed me away and now your asking him to knock you up again. I don’t know how to help you or even why I’m still here.” I said. She moved closer to me and then I felt her arms go around me.

“I’m sorry Lucas. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. All I know is they killed my baby girl and I’m losing my mind.” She said. I took a deep breath and wrapped my arms around her. I needed to fell her again. It had been so long since she touched me. I would give her anything if she asked me.

“Darren has a doctor coming to help you and I think it’s a good idea,” I said to her. She didn’t say anything. “Baby, I’m here for you, but you have to stop pushing me away,” I said.

“I’ll try Lucas, it’s not that I don’t want you around, but I have to have him near me.” She said. “I don’t know why but I just need him right now.” I had to listen to her tell me how she needed him and it was killing me to hear it. She never once asked me to give her a baby. I didn’t think she would. I left her room when she fell asleep and I found Darren standing out on the balcony.

“She is sleeping. I’m going to my room. She needs you right now and she needs that doctor.” I said and Darren didn’t say a word as I left.

Darren’s POV,

I waited a few moments and then I headed off to her room. I walked inside and she was sleeping. She was just so broken and I didn’t know how much longer I could be strong and not give in to her wants. I grabbed a chair and placed it in front of her. I took a seat and just sat there and watched her sleep. I felt broken and torn apart. My family was doing everything in their power to find out who did this. But my demons here inside my head were becoming harder to fight. The only woman I have ever loved sleeps in front of me and she is losing herself. The only thing she asks of me and I tell her no. How much longer could I say no to her? How much longer can I let her be in pain? Would I ever be strong enough to give her back to Lucas? I was a fucking mess and her only wanting me wasn’t helping.

I woke up the next morning and when I opened my eyes. She was in my lap sleeping. I took a deep breath and lifted her up in my arms and laid her back in the bed. This was killing me. I kissed her forehead and left the room. It was after nine and the doctor would be here at ten. Lucas hadn’t come out of his room yet. I waited for her to show up. She was here at ten and we took a seat in the living room and I told her what had gone on. She took notes and I asked her to give me a moment to let Scarlet know she was here. I walked back into her room and she was sitting up. She looked like she had seen a ghost. “Scarlet what’s wrong?” I asked her.

“She is not dead.” She said.

“What?” I asked her.

“My baby is not dead. They took her.”

“What makes you think that?” I asked her as I walked in and sat down next to her.

“I’ve been having these dreams Darren, but I don’t think they are dreams. I think they are memories.” I didn’t know if this was her just losing her mind. Or if this was true.

“What are the memories your having?” I asked her.

“I swear Darren I heard her cry. Why would I have heard her cry if she was dead?”

“The doctor is here to talk to you. I will look into what your saying. I promise you.” I said to her and she nodded at me. I walked out and told the doctor she was ready for her. Once the doctor went into her room. I went into my office and called my father.

“So she thinks the baby is alive?”

“Yes, she thinks she heard her cry and she thinks her dreams are not just dreams,” I said tohim.

“Darren, this could just be her freaking out son, I don’t want you to get your hopes up.”

“You think I don’t know that?” I said to him. I heard someone come walking into the room. I turned to see Lucas walk in. He took a seat with his arms crossed. I’m sure he heard me. “Just please see what you can find,” I asked him and hung up the phone.

“What’s going on?” Lucas asked me.

“Scarlet thinks the baby is alive,” I said.

“What? What makes her think that?” He asked me.

“She has been having dreams and she thinks they are memories. She believes she heard her cry.” I told him. He started to shake his head.

“Could that even be possible? I mean the doctors checked her out, right? Can’t they tell if she delivered a baby or not?” He asked me.

“Yes they said she did and that the baby was stillborn. I didn’t.” I stopped talking for a moment. I don’t think anyone saw the baby. Fuck, how could I be so stupid?

“What Darren?” He asked me.

“Lucas I need you to stay here with Scarlet. I have to go and check something out.” I said and took off out of the room. I called a couple of men and headed down to the hospital. Once we were there I tried to find Scarlet’s doctor. I asked everyone where her doctor was and no one could tell me anything. I stood on the floor she was on and I didn’t recognize anyone. Not one nurse or doctor we had seen that whole time was anywhere to be found. There wasnt even any records on Scarlet. What the fuck was going on? How the fuck could we of all been in this hospital that whole time and not one person remembers us? I was losing my mind now and I pulled out my phone and called my father back. I told him everything that was going on and now I believed that maybe Scarlet was telling the truth. My father was on his way and this wasn’t going to end well. I knew what this meant and this now meant much more. This was going to be war and we needed all the manpower we could come up with.

I now believed my daughter was out there and this was an attack on my family. For all, we knew she could still be right here somewhere under our noses. Oh god, I was going to rip this city apart. I grabbed my men and we headed back home. I slammed the door as I walked inside. I found Scarlet, Lucas and the doctor sitting at the kitchen table. I guess they could all guess that something wasn’t right with me. When they all looked at my face. “I’m sorry doctor but I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” I said as polite as I could.

“Sure sir, I was just about to head out anyways.” She said and Lucas showed her out. Scarlet stood up and came over to my side.

“What’s wrong?” She asked me. I just looked at her for a moment, the last thing I wanted to do was give her any false hope. I took a deep breath.

“I think maybe your dreams just might be memories,” I said to her. Her eyes got big. Lucas came walking back into the room.

“What’s going on?” He asked. I sat them both down and told them what I found in the hospital. Scarlet started to become upset and Lucas and I both got her to calm down.

“I need you to pull yourself together Scarlet because we are going to need you,” I said to her and she just sat there and tried to breathe. Lucas put his arm around her and once I saw her allow him to do that. I knew she was going to be okay and that I was once again going to have to let her go. It hurt my heart but I had to find my daughter and I couldn’t let my feelings get in the way this time.
