Drake fell to the floor as soon as he was struck. “Fuck!”
With his blood raging, Alex continued to punch my ex. “You think you can do that to my sister and get away with it, you motherfucker?”
My hands flung over my mouth. Alex was never the violent type, so watching him do something uncharacteristic of him had shocked me. It didn’t take long before Tyler and Adrian stepped in, pulled Alex, and held him back. “Let me go!”
Drake stumbled as he stood from the ground; blood poured out of his nose. “What’s your problem, man?”
“My problem is you and this slut!” Alex pointed to Krystal.
Tyler and Adrian let go of Alex, and Ellie stood behind me grasping my hand.
“What the fu-?” Drake stopped and shifted his attention to me. “You know.”
“How?” he asked.
“Your fiancé blabbed to her girlfriends in the bathroom.”
“You were in there?” Krystal’s mouth gaped.
Drake stepped forward. “I’m so sorry, Summer. I still lov-.”
Alex punched him again, cutting him off from whatever confession he was would have made. “Stay the fuck away from me and stay the fuck away from my sister.”
“Excuse me, I’m going to have to ask you all to leave the premises,” a security guard ordered.
“We were just leaving,” Tyler said, before the five of us stormed out of the club.
Alex trembled and clenched his jaw. “I can’t believe him.”
Ellie turned to me. “What was that about? There’s no way Alex would have gone all hulk on Drake just because he told you he missed you.”
“Drake was cheating on Summer with Krystal the whole time they were together.”
“What!” Ellie snapped.
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding,” Adrian scoffed.
“Are you okay?” Tyler asked.
“I’m fine. I was more upset that Alex may have known and didn’t tell me.”
“There’s no way I would have known and not done something about it.” Alex took a deep breath. “I swear, I could have killed that fucker.”
“Come on. We should head home,” Ellie said.
“Are you going to be okay, sis?”
I smiled. “I’ll be fine. I promise.”
We said our goodbyes and Tyler and I found a cab to take us home. He spent most of the sombre ride with his gaze out the window while my thoughts consisted of my current boyfriend, who wanted something drama free. I hated that he had to deal with my issues with Drake. He’s going to hate me for sure.
“Are you okay?” I croaked. “You seem quiet.”
He nodded. “It’s just...”
“It’s a lot to deal with.”
“Yeah,” Tyler agreed.
He reached over and entwined his fingers with mine. “What happened wasn’t your fault.”
“I just feel like an idiot.”
“Don’t do this to yourself. Drake did wrong by you.”
“Thank you. How are you feeling?”
Tyler shook his head. “I don’t know. I’m not feeling so good. I think I need to sleep it off.”
Ugh. I knew it.
“Okay. I’ll stay at Ellie’s place tonight.”
Tyler squeezed my hand. “Are you sure?”
A weak smile appeared on my lips. “I’m sure.”
Five Years Ago
“Ellie! Are you ready to go?” I yelled, after waiting on the couch for half an hour. She was naturally beautiful, but for the life of me I had no idea why it would take her that long to get ready.
“Give me a minute!”
Another ten, and Ellie finally walked out of her room, and looked as stunning as ever. “Wow. You’re stunning.”
“Thanks, babe. You look great, too.”
I stood from the couch and beamed. “I’ve waited enough. Tell me about this Adrian guy you’ve met.”
Ellie beamed. “He’s gorgeous, and sweet and sexy. Did I mention gorgeous?”
“He asked you out, right?”
Ellie nodded. “We’re going out to dinner tomorrow night.”
I nodded in approval. “Nice. You still gonna pick up tonight?”
“If I find someone worthy enough,” she winked.
“Is Alex going?”
“Nah. He has a date with some random he met last week.”
Ellie and I left her house before we caught a cab to the party we were invited to. This was a regular thing. Partying. Drinking. Safe sex. We loved it. I didn’t mind relationships, if the right person came along, but I enjoyed my freedom as well.
After a quick ride, we arrived at the house neither of us had been to before. The white infrastructure was modern, contemporary, and a house that I had only dreamed about.
“It’s stunning,” I admired.
“Amazing,” she agreed before her attention shifted to me. “Whose party is this again?”
We made our way inside and glanced at the large space, which was filled with people dancing and playing drinking games. A few people scattered on the lounge chairs with their lips and bodies connected.
“Let’s get a drink,” Ellie said.
In the corner of the room, there was a wet bar with a young bartender pouring drinks. “Ladies, ladies, ladies. Can I offer you a beverage?”
“Two beer, thanks,” Ellie smiled.
“What are your names?”
“I’m Ellie, and this is my best friend, Summer.”
“Wow,” he winked. “Both beautiful.” He grabbed two drinks from the fridge and lifted the tops before he handed them over. “Hopefully, I’ll see you later on.”
Desperate for air, we made our way outside with our drinks in our grasp. The music blared and a huge sea of people grinding on the dance floor.
“Ladies. Wow. Look at you both. Gosh. You’re both so...stunning. Mmmm, the things I could do to you.”
“We’ve only gotten our first drink and this guy’s already wasted,” Ellie laughed.
“I’m so sorry, ladies. My friend here is quite drunk.”
I shifted my attention to the sober guy and smiled. “That’s okay. We figured as much,” I replied.
He was my type. Tall, muscular, and his impressive physique tightened against his white shirt.
“I’m Kyle,” he greeted with outstretched hands.
“I’m Summer, and this is my friend, Ellie.”
“Nice to meet you both,” he beamed. “I’m going to take this drunk guy back to my other friends. Maybe I can come find you later, Summer?”
I nodded. “Definitely.”
“Great.” He winked before he led the wasted guy inside.
“He’s cute,” Ellie smiled.
“Shame about his drunk friend though.”
“Don’t worry. Look around. This place is packed with eligible guys!”
We finished our drinks and joined the guests on the dance floor. David Guetta’s songShot me Downblared on the speaker, and after a few more songs, some gorgeous guy walked up to Ellie and asked her to dance. She turned to me and beamed. “Can I?”
“Of course. Go have fun!”
Ellie planted a kiss on the cheek before the stranger took her hand. I was on my way to grab another drink when someone gently tugged at my arm. “Leaving already? I turned around. Kyle bit his lip while his eyes gazed at every inch of my curve.
“Hey. Was about to get another drink.”
“Dance with me first and then I’ll get that drink with you.”
With a few drops left in my cup, I sculled the contents before Kyle snatched it off me and threw it on the floor. “It’s okay. I know the owners.” He led me back to the dance floor where he pulled me into his arms. Kyle’s hands slid my body before he stopped at my ass giving it a firm squeeze. “Your ass is perfect.”
My flustered cheeks burnt, and I whispered beneath my breath. “Thank you.”
Kyle glided his thumb across my bottom lip. “I wonder what you taste like.”
“Kiss me and find out.”
He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine before his tongue forced its way inside my mouth. His hands roamed back down to my ass, and he held on tighter than before. Our bodies were so close, his erection dug into me. When Kyle pulled away, he smirked. “I was right. Those lips are amazing. How about that drink?”
Kyle gently took my hand and led me back to the bar. “Hey, man.”
“Bro! You caught a good one!”
“She’s stunning, right?”
“I’m right here, guys,” I chuckled.
“With no drink in your hand? What would you like now?” The bartender asked.
“Kyle, bro? For you?”
“Same here.” Once he handed us our beers, we made our way back outside. “Wanna go somewhere private? To talk? It’s loud here.”
“Sure. I need to find my friend and tell her.”
I turned to walk away, but Kyle grabbed my arm and pulled me back in before his lips crashed onto mine. His hands found my ass while he deepened the kiss. The remnants of beer were still on his tongue, which was forceful against my own.
After I pulled away, I wiped the corners of my mouth. “I’ll be back.” Ellie was on the dance floor with the stranger that asked her before. “Hey. I’m heading inside. Let me know if you end up leaving with him.”
“You find someone?” she asked.
I smiled. “Kyle. We’re gonna go somewhere private and talk.”
“Alright. Have fun and be safe.”
Kyle and I made our way back indoors. He led me through the house and up the stairs to one of the bedrooms. As soon as we stepped inside, he locked the door. When I turned to Kyle, he pulled me in for a quick kiss. “You really are gorgeous,” he breathed. I blushed before he spoke his next words. “It’s a shame you’re a whore.”
I narrowed my eyes. “What?”
Is this guy serious?
“I’m outta here.” Wanting to escape, I stepped towards the door, but Kyle blocked my way.
“You’re not going anywhere.” He moved closer and my arms flung up to protect myself.
I tried to push him away, but my efforts were thwarted when he punched me in the face. My body hit the wall before I slid down to the carpet. Blood seeped down my nose.
God no. Please. No. No. No. "Don't do this."
Kyle threw another punch and my lip tore. “Don’t fight with me. You won’t win.” He cackled. “Don’t worry about anything. I’m going to give you a night you won’t forget.”
