“Handle you? Not when I’m sober,”
“So, that’s why you’re drinking so much tonight?”
He clearly didn’t get my joke.
“Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Even drunk, I’m sure you wouldn’t be able to handle what I can offer.”
Now you’re just being an ass.
“So, don’t offer it Tyler,” I smiled, confident he wasn’t extending anything to me at all. Not his sexy mouth I wanted between my legs. Nor his hands which I imagined skimming over every inch of my fired-up body while that deep voice whispered dirty words in my willing ear.
He was here with someone else, even though I noticed his attentiveness towards me.
Tyler’s interest in me dwindled when his date casually strolled over and whispered something in his ear. I was curious what sweet words rolled off her tongue that made him blush that way.
“Time to go,” Tyler said. “It was really nice to meet you, Summer.”
“Same to you.”
There was a clear attraction I felt towards him. He reminded me of the carefree person I used to be, and even though that person was lost, sometimes I would get glimpses of memories which thrived my need to satisfy it.
I made my way to the firepit while attempting to shut out my thoughts about my brother and his asshole best friend who dumped me and went off overseas without a second thought.
“Everything okay?” Liam asked as I sat down back next to him.
“Yeah, all good. My brother just called and he’s overseas at the moment.”
For the rest of the night, I continued to eat, drink, chat with my friends and drink some more until it was time to say goodbye to Liam.
“It was great meeting you, Summer. I hope we can get that coffee soon.”
Unexpectedly, he leaned in and pressed his warm lips against my cheek. It was at that exact point; I knew I was attracted to both Tyler and Liam.
For the rest of the night, I continued to chat, eat and drink with my friends until it was time to say goodbye to Liam.
The following morning, I woke with my head thumping against my skull. It was a struggle to get changed into my workout gear, but I knew I needed to go for a run to clear my head.
With whatever energy I had left in my blood---which wasn’t much.
After treading downstairs slowly, not to wake anyone up, I stepped outside into the crisp fresh air to do my morning routine. My attention shifted to Tyler who was on his front lawn which look freshly mowed, bending down to collect a newspaper. He didn’t notice me, but I sure as fuck noticed him, in those grey sweatpants and white t-shirt which hugged his ruffled sleepy hair. Suddenly I found the energy I needed to finish my stretch, but for the life of me I didn’t want to turn away until he went inside his home.
My breath hitched the moment our eyes locked in place. Flustered for even getting caught perving at my best friend’s neighbour, I tucked my earphones in my ears at the same time he walked towards me.
Not today, Tyler.
My feet carried me away through the bustling streets towards my favourite place before I finally landed at the local park. The track went around the entire greenery and I spotted a few others running and riding their bikes. On the weekends, parents were with their kids if I ever started my jog later.
On my way back, I stopped by a café and picked up coffees to take to Ellie and Adrian. Not surprisingly, Tyler was no longer outside his home, and I wasn’t sure if I was relieved or disappointed.
“Morning, Ellie,” I greeted when I stepped into their chef’s kitchen. “I brought gifts.”
“Morning, Summer,” Ellie beamed.
She was always so chirpy in the mornings. I loved her to bits, but it was moments like those I wanted to strangle her.
Did I mention I loved her?
I placed the coffees down on the island, only realizing that my two best friend’s weren’t alone.
Why the fuck is Tyler here and why does he look so damn good?
“Hi,” Tyler winked and my lips slightly parted, but it took a while before anything could come out.
“Hi,” I replied. “Sorry, Tyler. I didn’t know you would be here. I just got coffee for the three of us.”
“Don’t sweat it.”
I handed over the throwaways to Ellie and Adrian before taking my own Styrofoam to my lips. As soon as I took the first sip, the bitter coffee coated my tongue
“Oh, God. This is fowl. Here you go, Tyler. All yours.”
“Thank you,” he took it without hesitation, and pressed his lips on the same spot I had just pressed my own, thinking about how nice it would be to actually have him taste me. “I needed this after last night.”
Fuck. His smile is insane.
Went for a run?” Ellie asked, grateful she did because there was no way I was going to look away from Tyler anytime soon.
“Mmhm,” I muttered.
“A lot on your mind, huh?”
Ellie knew me too well, but I wasn’t prepared to dish out the issues I had with my ex-boyfriend getting married while Tyler was still in the room, staring at me the way he was.
“You were wasted last night,” Tyler pointed out. “How much did you drink?”
I stretched my lips, widening my eyes, forgetting the exact number of beers Travis handed over at my request. “I lost count.”
After the phone call with my brother, that was it. My lips hugged the neck of countless bottles at my own expense, trying to drown out the thoughts of the first guy I ever really loved.
Suddenly feeling hot from Tyler’s eyes burning right through me, I opened the double-door stainless fridge and stood in front of it.
“So, tell me about Drake,” Ellie said. “I got a message from Alex last night.”
I’m going to kill you, Alex.
I sighed, feeling defeated, grabbing the first cold bottle of water I could reach from the side pocket before I closed the door again.
“Of course, my brother told you,” I huffed, taking my first sip to cool me right the fuck down.
I sighed, and grabbed a cold bottle of water from the side pocket of the fridge before I closed the door.
“Are you okay?”
I loved Ellie and how she always looked after the people she cared about, I just wish she knew when not to push things, and right now I was already on edge about to fall into a void with no one willing to find me in the darkness that was sure to swallow me whole.
“I’m fine,” I lied.
But I really wasn’t.
“You went for a run at five thirty in the morning. I’d say you’re not fine,” she retorted. “You only go for a run when you’re stressed out and need to clear your head.”
Yep. She knew me too well.
“I’m not upset about it, Ellie.” I growled. If I couldn’t convince my brother there was no way in hell I was going to convince my best friend, who knew me better than anyone.
“Not upset? Your brother tells you that your ex is getting married and you’re not upset by it?” Ellie scowled.
Tyler’s gaze caught with mine briefly and his expression was unreadable, though there was a subtle hint of sympathy flecked through his browns.
“Ellie, he left me a year ago. I’ve had time to deal with it. Drake has moved on and I need to do the same.”
Finally, Ellie took the hint. “Okay, but if you want to talk about it.”
“I really don’t. I’m going to have a shower.”
Without giving any of them a chance to say something else, I slammed my bottle on the island and bolted upstairs to the guest bedroom. Piece by piece, I peeled my clothes, throwing them onto the floor before I turned on the faucet to the shower. Checking the temperature of the flow before I stepped in completely. The moment the hot water gushed against my skin; I released the breath stuck in my throat. My heart steadied and I moved under the cascading water to wash the angst away.
But my thoughts betrayed me and travelled to Drake, and all I could think about was how quickly it moved on and what that could have meant.
He didn’t love me as much as I loved him.
What a fucking waste of two years.
After scrubbing the thoughts away, I turned off the water and stepped outside, realizing there was not a towel on the heated rack.
Completely naked, and dripping wet, I found myself in the bedroom; my mouth gaped open the moment I noticed Tyler placing a towel on the mattress of my temporary bed.
His lips parted, delicately, and his eyes bulged before they flickered up and down my naked form, whispering a curse beneath his breath. “Damn…”
“Tyler! What the fuck? Get out!” I screamed and flung my hands to shield the rawest parts of my body, but there was only so much I could hide.
Surprised by my outburst, Tyler apologized then made a beeline to the door before slamming it shut. I frantically wrapped the spare towel around my body to dry off before getting dressed. After flying down the stairs with my overnight bag in my hand, my furious eyes locked with Tyler, whose cheeks were as red as my own. The only difference was he wore a soft smirk on his lips.
“What’s with the yelling?” Ellie asked.
“I got out of the shower naked only to find Tyler in my room!”
Ellie stretched her lips, looking as guilty as sin. “Oh, shit. I asked him to take a towel up to you. He was going up there anyway. I thought you’d still be in there since you normally take an hour!”
“Well, I got out of the shower naked only to find Tyler in my room!” I growled.
“I do not!” I rebutted, never being more embarrassed than I was at that very moment.
“Don’t be like that,” Ellie said, calming her voice right down. “You’ve got a hot body, right Tyler?”
He went to say something, but noticed the warning stare I had given him. “Never mind.”
“You still okay to house sit?” Ellie asked.
“Depends. Is it safe with this guy next door?” I pointed to Tyler who immediately stood defensive.
“I should remind you that you walked in on me last night, too.”
How could I forget?
My mind drifted off to his body, and the way the water glistened down the terrain of his chest; teasing me to lick every drop off that magnificent form.
Stop it Summer.
“I didn’t even know you were in the room!” I bellowed.
“You still okay to house sit? Ellie asked.
Tyler’s lips curved up the slightest, knowing he was going to get a reaction from me with his next words. “You couldn’t keep your eyes off me.”
He was right though. It took a lot of strength to pry my eyes away from him.
“Oh, please,” I rolled my eyes.
“What’s happening here?” Ellie raised her brow, shifting her attention between Tyler and me with her arms folded tight against her chest.
“Nothing,” Tyler and I said in unison.
Fuck. I need to get out of here.
I bent down and grabbed my overnight bag from the floor. Droplets of water from my hair landed against my shoulder, clearly still wet from scurrying to get changed. “Well, I’m heading out.”
After saying goodbye to my best friends, Tyler offered to walk me outside.
“So, you’ll be my neighbour for two weeks, huh?” Tyler beamed, tucking his hands in his pockets.
“Yep,” I replied.
Two whole fucking weeks.
“Don’t get any ideas now,” he winked, removing his house keys.
“What ideas would they be?”
“Oh, you know. Finding excuses to come over.” He said, spinning the keys around on his finger.
“Believe me. If there’s something I need, you’ll be the last person I ask for help.”
Tyler’s expression changed, then he stepped closer to my body while coating his lips with his tongue.
“I know one day you’ll need help with something,” he said. “And I’m going to make you beg for it.”
It was 6:30 in the morning, and I felt the crisp air blow in my face as soon as I stepped out of Ellie and Adrian’s house. It had been a few days since they left to go interstate, and I was surprised I hadn’t seen their overly friendly neighbour.
I stretched my arms and took a deep breath when someone from next door called out my name. My attention shifted and I noticed the girl Tyler was with the night I met him.
“Tyler needs some help in there,” she winked, and threw something at me which I caught with ease. In my hands were a tiny set of blue keys.
I glanced back up and noticed the girl was gone. Looking at the entrance to his house, I noticed his door was left ajar. Believing Tyler might need help, and because I was curious about his house, what he liked and pretty much everything about him, I decided to check in on him.
Making my way to the front door, I called out to him. “Tyler?” I yelled. “Are you home?”
With courage on my side, I pushed the door open and gazed around the single-story open plan house, which was modern and clean. A dark painting hung at the entrance hallway of a young boy alone on a beach which caught my attention, and somehow left an ache in my stomach.
Nice place, Tyler.
“Hello?” Tyler yelled. “If that’s you, Rachel. This isn’t funny anymore.” His voice echoed from one of the rooms at the end of the hall.
I treaded lightly, and made my way over, my courage diminishing by the second.
“Tyler? Everything okay?” The door creaked when I slowly pushed it open. “Tyler?”
“Summer? No!” he yelled. “Wait!”
But it was too late.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
I closed the door shut and rested my head against the frame.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“Summer? Are you there?”
It took a little a while, but I finally replied. “Yep. Still here.”
“Um, what are you doing here?”
God, is he really asking me that right now?
“I was going to go for a run when---I think her name is Rachel handed me some keys and said you needed help,” I explained. “She wasn’t lying, was she?”
“No, definitely wasn’t lying,” he muttered. “Wait. Did you say she gave you keys?”
My heart rate increased as I knew what he was about to ask me.
“I’m gonna need you to come in here and unlock the cuffs.”
I was far from calm. Tyler was naked---completely and cuffed to the bed. His hair was ragged as though he had just woken up. He called out to me again until a sudden calm washed over me.
A smile played on my lips when his previous words rang in my ear.
I know one day you will need help with something, and I’m going to make you beg for it.
“Okay, Tyler. I’ll help you,” I shouted through the door.
“Thank you,” Tyler sighed.
“But I’m going to make you beg for it.”
“What!” he cried. “Are you serious, right now?”
“You have to beg me to come in there to help you,” I snickered. Completely satisfied I had one over him. “Isn’t that what you told me yesterday?” I reminded Tyler.
“Yes, but---ugh,” Tyler grunted. “Okay, fine. Come in and help me,” he whispered, as though he didn’t want me hear those words.
“You can do better than that, Tyler. I need those specific words.”
There was no way I was going to let him get away with what he said.
No fucking way.
“Fine,” Tyler defeated with a sneer. “I beg you to come and help me.”
“Good,” I said. “Now that wasn’t hard, was it?”
“Can you please hurry? I’m getting cold,” Tyler pleaded.
“Do you have a spare blanket, Tyler?”
“Well, if I could warm myself up, Summer, I wouldn’t be needing your help.”
No shit, pal.
“Not for you, smartass. You’re naked. I want to cover you before I take off the cuffs.”
There was a brief pause before his next words. “Oh,” he muttered. “Spare bedroom down the hall.”
After grabbing a blanket from the spare bedroom. I made my way back to Tyler, warning him I was going to enter. With slow and steady steps, I placed the thick fleece in front of me to shield my view from the gorgeous naked guy who was cuffed to the bedrails.
Normally I would find this shit a complete turn on. I mean who wouldn’t want take control of a naked guy who had no means to touch any part of your body he was desperate to touch. To have him beg, and plead, and whisper dirty things in your ear, while you tease the fuck out of him.
Oh, yeah. I wanted to do that, and wanted to do it to Tyler.
I shook my head from the filthy thoughts and threw the blanket over his body, opening one eye before the next when I realized he was completely covered.
“Can’t breathe, Summer,” Tyler muffled beneath the covers.
One tug and it loosened from his face. Tyler took in a deep breath.
“Thank you. Now please uncuff me.”
Reaching into my pocket to search for the keys, my eyes bulged as a look of horror swept across my face.
“Fuck. I’ve lost them.”
“What!” Tyler freaked. “Are you serious?”
I chuckled. “Relax, I’m kidding.”
“Either get on my cock and ride me or uncuff my hands!”
Oh, you ungrateful ass!
Within seconds I climbed on top of Tyler. His breath hitched before he bit his bottom lip. The thick blanket was between us, but there was no mistaking the bulge which was pressed up against me.
And it was fucking huge.
“I didn’t know riding you was an option,” I seductively muttered beneath my faltered breaths, leaning over to uncuff one of his hands. Once it was free, he moved his wrist around and I used the opportunity to whisper again. “I think you’ve got it from here.”
“What is it, Tyler?”
“I can’t reach the other one.”
I rolled my eyes, moving to the other side of the bed before I uncuffed his other hand. Before I could leave, Tyler pulled me onto the firm mattress, pinning my arms down then climbed on me.
“What the hell are you doing, Tyler?”
His gaze reduced me to a puddle. “
Do you know how dangerous it is flirting with me?” he mumbled.
“I wasn’t flirting with you.”
“What do you call it then?”
“Teasing,” I said, my lip slowly releasing between my teeth.
“Teasing me is dangerous too.”
And it felt dangerous. Seductively dangerous, but I was willing to swim in unsafe waters if it meant I got just even a little taste of him. I was acutely aware of how my body reacted, turned on, and the way he stared into my eyes made it harder to breathe.
“Tyler,” I dipped my voice low. “Get off me.”
Even though part of me wanted him. The other part was hesitant and protective of who I was, and the girl I used to be. Tyler was the type who wanted a fling, and that just wasn’t me anymore.
“Are you going to behave?” Tyler asked.
I shook my head slowly. “No. Are you going to thank me for uncuffing you?”
“Nope,” he smirked.
I let out a small chuckle. “Maybe I should put the cuffs back on you.”
Tyler raised his brows, and pushed my hands tighter against the mattress, pinning me down and turning me on even more.
“You think you can do that?” he asked. “Get out from underneath me and cuff me to the bed again?”
“I know I can.”
“Oh, Summer. I’d love to see you try.”
I held his gaze, staring into his eyes and for a moment I thought he was going to kiss me. A slow smile spread on my lips before I struggled beneath him---pretending to of course. Tyler couldn’t help but laugh, but that sweet sound faltered when I maneuverered away from his grasp, flipped him over and climbed back on before doing as I promised and cuffed him to the bed.
“What the fuck? How did you do that?”
“I’m going for my run now,” I winked, and got off the his bed for the second time.
“Wait! Can you let me out first?” The desperation in his voice had made me laugh.
“Are you going to behave?” I repeated his words.
“I never do,” he replied. “Are you going to stop teasing me?”
“You said it was dangerous to tease you right?” My tongue coated my lips. “So, I won’t be topping anytime soon.”
Very briefly, and I almost missed it, Tyler’s eyes landed on the curve of my breasts. “That’s not a bad thing, Summer. Can you uncuff me now?”
“No,” I said firmly.
He grunted and used the exact words he knew I wanted to hear. “I beg you to uncuff me.”
Satisfied with his response, I uncuffed Tyler and threw the keys onto the mattress, wondering how the hell he got into that position in the first place. “Enough drama for one day. I’ll see you around.”
He smiled, watched me walk out of the room then yelled out to me. “Oh, I hope so!”
The next morning, after my routine workout, I made my way to the office with Tyler still on my mind.
We were two different people, yet I still felt a connection with him. Sleeping with someone without knowing them, was something I stopped myself from doing for the past five years. One-night stands, the drinking, partying---all of that used to be part of my life, but I had changed.
After finding myself in the coffee break room trying to get my morning energy fix, my colleague explained the managers had hired someone new, and we’d be introduced to him in the weekly meeting in a few minutes.
“I heard he’s insanely hot,” Dale chimed in.
“You think everyone’s hot,” Lisa chuckled.
I grabbed my mug and collected my notepad before I stood from the meal table. “We’ll find out soon enough.”
The entire office---every floor and division had packed into Boardroom 2 which was filled to the brim. The news of the hot new employee circulated the office and piqued the interest of every employee.
After taking a seat next to Lisa and Dale, Finlay, the boss, strolled into the room.
“Good morning, everyone. I’m going to make this meeting brief as I know we have a few things to do today. There’s just one thing on the agenda. I’m sure you’ve all heard we have a new employee starting with us.” Finlay gazed around the room. “He’s transferred here from Billy and Sons, and he’ll be taking over from Roger. I’ll let him introduce himself, though I can’t see him here just yet.”
Everyone’s attention shifted to the meeting room door when it creaked open. “Ahhh, here he is,” Finlay beamed.
My eyes flung wide and I suddenly felt dizzy, grateful I was already seated down. The room went quiet yet the voices in my head made it hard to distinguish my own thoughts.
I knew the person who walked in, and this was not good.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
