“What do you mean you don’t like spaghetti?” I ask Nicolas as he was only playing with his food.

“No mama.” He said and pushed his plate forward.

“But it’s your favorite? Are you not feeling too good?” I asked him as I walked over to the table and felt his head. He did feel a little warm, but nothing that alarmed me. “What would you like to eat?”

“French fries.”

“French fries?” He nodded his little head at me. “Do you promise to eat them?” He nodded again. I grabbed his plate and went back into the kitchen. I threw some fries into the oven. Nicolas grabbed his toy airplane and started to play on the floor next to me.

“What’s going on in here?” I heard Owen say as he came in from the living room.

“Playing airplanes,” Nicolas announced. “And mama is making French fries.”

“Can I have some?” Owen asked. Nicolas just looked up at him and both Owen and I burst out laughing. “What do you have planned tonight?” Owen asked me.

“Well, I’m going to get this kid here to eat and then put him to bed, and if that wasn’t exciting enough. I’m going to sit down there in the living room and find something scary to watch.” Owen just smiled.

“Sounds like a blast.” I smiled as I was putting dishes away.

“What are your plans for tonight? It’s like your first night off in months.” I asked him.

“I’ve got a date.” I turned and looked at him.

“What do you mean really? I’m cute.” I laughed.

“I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant your life is so busy watching me. I didn’t think you had time to date.”

“Draco is going to start to give me days off. Things are going good here and I don’t think he feels like you need to be watched all the time.” It’s true, I’m almost seven months along. I have no desire to try and take off anymore. All the crap that used to go on with Draco and his men was gone. None of that was here in this house. It stayed quiet and kind of normal.

“Where is Draco tonight?”

“Last time I saw him he was in his office, but I think he said something about leaving tonight.” I nodded at Owen and then his phone started to go off. “Excuse me for a minute.” I watched him walk outback. I pulled Nicolas fries out and covered them in ketchup, just the way he likes them. He took his plate to the table.

“Hello, gorgeous.” I heard Draco’s voice before he walked up behind me and placed his arms around my waist. He kissed me behind the ear.

“Are you hungry?”

“Yeah, what did you make?”

“Can you make me a plate?”

“Of course, why don’t you go have a seat and I’ll bring it to you.” He nodded and walked over by Nicolas. I fixed him a plate and a glass of milk. As I was setting his food in front of him. Owen came walking back in from the outside. I didn’t like the look on his face, but as soon as he saw Draco. He smiled and walked over towards Draco.

“Why are you still here Owen? I thought I gave you the night off?”

“My date called and canceled. I don’t really have anything to do. Are you still leaving the house tonight?”

“I didn’t have to. I planned on staying here with my girl tonight.”

“That’s good, I’ll just get out of your way. I’d like to catch up on some sleep.” Owen and Draco nodded at each other and Owen left the room. I got Nicolas all cleaned up and got him into bed. I found Draco sitting in the living room. I cleaned up and once I was done. I felt tired and joined Draco in the living room. I took a seat and closed my eyes.

“How are you feeling?” I opened my eyes and looked over at him.

“Tired and fat.”

“You look beautiful.” I smiled. “Give me your feet.” I stretch out and he started to rub my feet. I don’t know when it happened, but I fell asleep. When I opened my eyes. The house was dark. I knew right away that something wasn’t right. I mean the house is normally dark at night, but this was really Dark. No lights were on what so ever. Normally the light above the stove was on. Or little lights around the house, but this was can’t see type of dark. I reached out thinking I would find Draco next to me, but I was alone.

I felt the fear and all I wanted to was to get to my son. It could be something as simple as a blackout, but Draco always carried me to bed. Any other night that I fall asleep here in the living room. Draco takes me to bed. For him to leave me alone out here. Just didn’t feel right. I tried to listen to see if I could hear anything out of the ordinary. The house was quiet. I got up and started to feel my way towards the stairs. I wanted to get to my son. I also didn’t want to bump into anything.

I reached the staircase and started to head up. Nicolas’s room was right across from mine and Draco’s. I stopped in the hallway thinking I heard a noise. I stayed quiet and listened. Still, I heard nothing. Right before I reached Nicolas’s door. A bright huge flash went off outside and lit the entire house up. It was loud and knock me to the ground. I scrambled up and ran into Nicolas’s room. I closed the door behind me and grabbed my son and hid inside his closet. I held my hand over his mouth and told him he needed to be quiet. He stayed in my arms as I tried to listen for anything. I could hear gunshots and explosions. I push myself into the corner of the closet and covered us in a blanket.

The closet door opened and I closed my eyes and held Nicolas closer to me. “Danica?” It was Owen.

“Owen, oh my god. Thank god.” He rushed over to me.

“Are you and Nicolas okay?”

“Yes, yes. Please get us out of here.”

“No, I need you to stay right here.”

“No buts, stay put and don’t move.” I just nodded and Owen started to leave.

“Your safe here.” He said as he closed the door. I heard more noise and realized Owen was still in the bedroom. The other voice belonged to Draco.

“Where is she?” Draco said. “What the fuck are you doing?”

“Just stay put and don’t fucking move Draco.”

“You had better kill me you fucking trader. Or I promise you will be ripped apart.” Draco snapped. What the hell was going on? I said to myself. Did Owen have a gun on Draco?

“The only one who’s going to be ripped apart is you Draco.” Who the fuck was that? Why did it sound so familiar? I still didn’t move.

“Fuck you, Jason, you ain’t shit without Ryder,” Draco said. I almost ran out of the closet. Could it really be Jason? But I stayed still.

“Fuck me? No sir, fuck you! You dirty fucking piece of shit. This time you fucked up and now you have been caught.” Jason hissed out.

“Fucking kill me then!” Draco yelled out. Jason and Owen started laughing.

“You honestly think you will get out of this that easy. You’re sadly mistaking.” Jason said.

“What you going to do little boy? You are not going to do shit. Just fucking shoot me already. You fucking coward.” Kill him, I kept repeating over and over again in my head. Please just end this already. “Your nothing without your leader,” Draco yelled out.

“Are you talking about me?” My heart stopped. I had to listen again. Because I didn’t think I heard that voice right. It can’t be? “You won’t be dying today. That’s for sure.” That rough deep voice sent tears to my eyes. It can’t be.

“Ryder, no you’re fucking dead,” Draco yelled out. I couldn’t stand it any longer. I sat Nicolas down and told him to stay put. I got up and went to the door. I opened it slowly. I stepped out and the scene in front of me was unreal. Draco stood in the middle of the room. With five guns pointed at him. Owen had a gun, Jason and two men I didn’t recognize also had guns pointed at Draco. I then turned and looked at the man standing by the doorway. I had all eyes on me and I moved to Owens side. I cocked my head.

“Ryder?” I said softly. “Is... is it really you?”

“Fuck you bitch he will never have you!” Draco screamed out and jumped towards me. I closed my eyes and held my ears as gunshots went off. When it was quiet. I opened my eyes to Draco on the ground. His legs were bleeding and looked as though they didn’t have much left to them. He let out a small sound and laid there. I looked up has Ryder, with a small limp. Came over to me and picked me up into his arms.

“Is it really you?”
