Chapter 1
The captain’s voice echoed throughout the plane, and the only sound loud enough to mask the fear from the cockpit was the loud bang from the right engine which seemed to be engulfed in flames. High screams from the passengers caused my body to tremble. They were getting louder, but I soon realized it was because I was screaming too. When the plane dived, the lights flashed on and off in the cabin and the oxygen masks automatically released. Bags in the overhead compartment tumbled over the passengers, while the food trolley screeched down the aisle.
Lexi, my best friend, grabbed my hand and shifted her attention to me with tears in her eyes. “I love you, Kaylee.”
“I love you too, Lexi”
Suddenly, the captain yelled over the speaker. His voice filled with undeniable terror. “Brace! Brace! Brace! Heads down! Stay down!”
THE DAY BEFORE
“It’s our last night here. Let me take you out so you can forget about what happened.”
“I don’t think I can, Kay.”
“So, what exactly did you hear over the phone?”
“Moaning, and tons of it,” she croaked.
“I can’t believe she would do that to you. Have you spoken with her?”
I had met Lexi when I started working at the local popular restaurant in New York City, and from the first day, we became inseparable. She had been with her girlfriend for a year, and while we were on holiday, she decided to give her a call only to find out she was having sex with someone else.
“Nah. I’ll sort it out when we get back.”
“Fine, but we’re going out tonight.”
Lexi took a deep breath and sighed in defeat. “Sure.”
“How about that club we haven’t had a chance to go to? I think it’s called Eternity.”
“Oh, I’ve heard about that. Maybe we can find you someone decent so you can get laid,” Lexi winked.
I shook my head and widened my eyes. “Hey! I don’t care that I’m a virgin. I haven’t found someone I’ve wanted bad enough.”
“You’re too picky.”
I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest. “I’m so not picky.”
“Yes, you are. There was nothing wrong with Adrian.”
“I caught him kissing Chelsea at the work Christmas party. I’d say there was plenty wrong with him.”
Lexi’s jaw dropped and she lightly tapped my arm. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s forget about Adrian and Nicole. Tonight, we’re going to enjoy ourselves and have fun.”
“Deal. Now what are you going to wear?”
I chewed the inside of my mouth. “Ummm...”
“Come on, Kay. Put yourself out there a bit more. No one is going to notice you if you keep hiding.”
“Maybe that’s the way I want it.”
“No, it’s not. You’re twenty-one years old, gorgeous, and single. If you played for my team, I’d be all over you.”
A smirk played on my lips. “Maybe I should move over to the dark side.”
“Don’t tease me, girl.”
I laughed then opened my luggage and rummaged the contents to find a black laced dress I’d never worn. “I brought this just in case.”
Lexi’s mouth gaped open. “Kay. Why haven’t I seen this on you before? The dress is gorgeous.”
“I’ll try it on now.”
I peeled off my clothes before I slipped into the dress. Turning around, I stood in front of Lexi while she zipped me up.
“I’m officially turned on.”
“How do I look?”
“Honestly, Kay. You look gorgeous.”
Lexi changed into a stunning red number. The top curved down to her breasts and the length just sat above her thighs. “You look perfect. You’ve got such a great body.”
“Have you seen yours? Trust me, babe. Coming from the perspective of someone who likes chicks, you’re hot.”
The rest of the day went by quickly. After getting ready, Lexi and I made the leisurely stroll to the club, which wasn’t too far from our hotel. When we arrived, there was a decent line of people waiting to get in.
“I can’t believe how popular this place is.”
“At least it’s a warm night and we’re not freezing our asses.”
“Well that’s good, since we might be here for a while.”
As we continued to talk, two guys walked right by the both of us. They were definitely hard to miss. One of them laughed the moment he saw me. His eyes gazed up and down my body before he went straight to the bounces, who immediately let them both in.
“Prick,” Lexi and I said in unison before my attention shifted down to my dress. Second guessing my outfit, I thought there was something wrong with the way I looked.
“You’re fine, Kaylee”
“How did you know?”
“I know how you think, Kay.”
I smiled at my best friend. “Thanks.”
It took another forty minutes of waiting outside before we were finally allowed in the venue. We gazed around the space and noticed it was filled to the brim. There were people ordering drinks, and even more on the dance floor, grinding and making out.
“Oh, my God. Look!” Lexi shouted.
“What am I looking at?”
Lexi pointed towards the other side of the club. There was a large tube which led out to the dance floor.
“What the hell is that for?”
“I don’t think we should have gotten so dressed up,” she said.
“Why is that?”
“It’s a foam party.”
My mouth dropped open when I noticed more tubes that came from the ceiling right on top of the dance floor. “Wait. Seriously?”
“Most people strip down to their bra and panties. Don’t worry, our dresses won’t be ruined.”
“You expect me to take off my dress in front of all these people?”
“It’s our last night here. It’s not like we’re going to see these people again.” Lexi gazed around the room for a moment before she spotted the ladies bathroom. “I’ll be back. Do you want to get us some drinks?”
“Sure thing. Your usual?”
“Make it a double. I need it tonight.”
Lexi headed to the bathroom while I went towards the bar. Suddenly, someone deliberately pushed past me, almost knocking me down. “Ahhh! What the fuck?” I shifted my attention to the guy, who happened to be the same person outside the club.
His arrogant smile reached his eyes before the words expelled from his lips. “Excuse me. You’re in my way.”
