“Where the hell have you been?” Rose asked the moment I stepped in the front door of our sorority house.
“I was at the library,” I lied.
She scoffed. “Right. Your hair is a mess and your cheeks are flushed like they get after you’ve just fucked a guy. Tell us… who was it?” She patted the seat next to her as she grinned but I stayed where I was.
“You wouldn’t know him,” I lied again.
“Speaking of guys,” Bridget started, “You never told us how that loser was in bed. Ryan said you succeeded and he was pissed to lose out on two hundred bucks.”
My heart sank in my stomach. I didn’t want to talk about this with them, but I knew they’d suspect something if I didn’t.
“Oh, he was pretty damn good for being a loser.” That word hurt to come out of my mouth but I had a part to play here.
“How good are we talking? I mean, the guy is a total creep. I’d be surprised if he lasted for more than ten seconds.” Rose waved at me. “Especially being with a girl like you. I’m also surprised that he isn’t following you around like a little puppy.”
I couldn’t stop the memories of my sexcapades with Damon from entering my mind and the ache between my legs returned.
“Like I said, he was good. No complaints here and I got some money out of the deal.” I wanted this conversation to end right now. “So, what’s the plan for tonight?”
Rose clapped and I knew I won that distraction. “There’s going to be a bonfire tonight.”
I rolled my eyes. I hated it when the Frat boys put on a bonfire. They were super lame and everyone just sat around making out all night.
“The dorm guys are putting it on,” Bridget added, probably seeing my face.
“Oh? Cool. I’m going to go get ready for that then.” I spun and ran upstairs before they could keep talking.
The area in the woods where they decided to have the bonfire was packed with all sorts of students. The Greek Row kids were here in droves and then I noticed all of the other dorm students. It was a really nice mix and a breath of fresh air from the frat parties I was used to going to.
The guys walked up to us then and Tommy was still being hesitant with me. I apologized earlier, what more did he want from me?
He handed me a drink and I gulped it down, knowing I’d need several of these to get through the night. But then my eyes landed on Damon and I froze.
What the hell is he doing here? And, what the hell is she doing with him?!
He was with a small group of people, talking and laughing when I noticed his arm was around this girl’s waist. She was all giggles and kept leaning into him. My blood was boiling.
I ripped the glass from Rose’s hand and chugged that down too, realizing it was straight vodka. Fuck, that’s going to hit hard.
My eyes were still trained on Damon as he began to look around with a stupid grin on his face. I was glaring at him, but the moment he saw me, his smile died and he held my gaze. We stared at each other for a long moment before I did something really fucking stupid.
The jealousy running through me was real and I wanted Damon to feel how I was feeling. I grabbed Tommy by the collar and slammed my lips onto his. They didn’t feel right, but they’d do the trick.
Tommy reached out and grabbed my hips, pulling me tightly to his chest as he deepened the kiss. Our friends cheered for us but I ignored them, keeping my eyes open and glued to Damon.
His jaw was tight and the look of pure anger on his face made me feel triumphant.
Tommy grabbed me then and lifted me into his arms, my legs wrapping around his torso.
It was then that Damon pushed away from his date and group of friends and stormed off into the woods. And my heart sank into my chest. Fuck, I’m an asshole.
I jumped off of Tommy and shoved him away, wiping my lips off because they felt tainted. He cursed at me but I ignored him, grabbing another drink and heading in the direction Damon ran off in.
I’m a fucking idiot.
