"You could have told me," I finally said.
He snorted. "You're not my girlfriend so I don't owe you an explanation. Besides, it really was just studying."
"That's not what I was talking about. I don't give a shit who you decide to put your dick in. Just remember to wrap it." It was a total lie, but I couldn't let him see the jealous side of me right now.
He looked over his shoulder at me and for a split second, I thought he looked pained by my words, but then his brow furrowed and he was back to being angry Damon.
"I had two police officers approach me this morning. Do you know anything about that?"
His shoulders tensed but he continued to look forward. "I heard a rumor or two."
Okay, this beating around the bush was about to drive me mad. I jumped out of bed and let him have it as I shoved him from behind.
"You could have warned me!!" I shouted. "I was humiliated as they put me in the back of their squad car. And then I was questioned before they sent me to the hospital for a rape test! Do you have any idea what I've been through this morning?!"
He finally turned toward me, but the look of melancholy that he gave me stung the worst.
"Do I really mean nothing to you?! I know you're the one who tipped them off and gave them my things!"
"It needed to be done. You weren't going to do shit while that pretty, rich boy gets to walk! For fuck's sake, Taylor, wake up!"
I slapped him.
The room was eerily quiet as he stared into my eyes while his jaw tensed.
"You can slap me all you want. It doesn't change the fact that he deserves what's coming to him." He went back to putting his books away and it angered me.
"Stop!" I slapped the books from his hands and forced him to look at me. "Why do I get the feeling that what we had meant nothing to you?! I was all alone this morning! Do you have any idea how scary that was?! And then I come back here to find a bimbo crawling all over you while I went into the bathroom to take a Plan B to stop a possible pregnancy?!" I was shouting and didn't give a damn if anyone heard.
His eyes softened but I could tell that he was still mentally pushing me away.
I let out a small sob and stepped back from him.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be out of here before you get back from your date with Barbie.”
His lack of emotions had pushed me over the edge. I wouldn’t beg him to love me. It wasn’t like me to do so. I turned and started grabbing my belongings. I had no idea where the hell I was going, but I couldn’t stay here any longer.
“You don’t have to leave,” he whispered.
I scoffed. “Yeah, because staying here sounds like so much fun.” I started shoving things into my duffle bag. “Yeah, let me just sleep over here while I’m begging for you to forgive me. Let me just stay here so I can come home and find you in bed with another woman. It would destroy me.”
Tears filled my eyes as I continued to pack, but then I felt his warm body right behind me. He grabbed my arms and spun me around before he grabbed my face.
“You don’t have to leave.”
My bottom lip trembled as I tried to look away from him.
“I can’t stay here knowing you don’t want me. I’ve been worrying myself sick for the last two weeks wondering where you’ve been. I know I’ve screwed everything up, Damon. I’ve hurt you.” And I had. Not only had I hidden him from my fake friends and kept him my dirty little secret, I made out with Tommy right in front of his eyes during the night when he needed me the most.
He released me and started unpacking my things.
“What are you doing, Damon?” I whimpered before I inhaled a deep breath.
“You’re not going anywhere.”
It was sweet, but my heart was still hurting. He didn’t want me to leave. Did that mean something?
