FIFTEEN

“We know that Draco was killed, but his brother Cane has since taken over Draco’s gang. I know you know the truth about Anna.” I nodded my head. My father just sighed. “He has her believing we took her from them.”

“How do you know all of this?”

“I have someone on the inside.”

“Who?”

“We’re not going to worry about that right now. Just know that we do and Anna is okay. She is not being hurt or held down in any way. She is safe right now and she believes that. It needs to stay that way. I have been able to watch her from afar. The problem is that if Cane gets any indication that we are close to her. He picks everyone up and moves. They were let on that you were there and that’s why they moved her again.”

“So it’s my fault.” My father just looked at me. I shook my head.

“You couldn’t have known and don’t worry about it. He won’t hurt her.” I stood up feeling pissed off again.

“This is fucked, when do we go after her? She doesn’t belong with them. She belongs with us.”

“Your right son, she does belong with us, but if we just go in and we don’t do this right. We could get her killed and ourselves as well. These people are smart and Sneaky. Plus I promise you she will not come near us. My spy has told us the story she has been feed. We also know what she went through the first year she was gone. I believe Cane had that done to her on purpose to make her believe I had this done to her. She fears me.”

“What happened to her?” I asked and my father looked over at Jason. “Well?”

“I really don’t think now is the time.”

“Now is a perfect time. No more secrets. If we’re going to work together then we have to be on the same page dad.” Ryder looked at Jason and Ethan again. Both of them came to my side. My heart started to beat. “What the fuck happened to her?” I snapped out. My father started to explain how this Cane guy got others to come into our home and take us all out. These people took Anna and held on to her for a year. The man that watched over my sister while she lived in a cage. Hurt and raped her. Then Canes men came in and killed everyone including this man. Cane brainwashed Anna into believing he saved her and my father had this done to her. Now she is scared of us.

My blood boiled and I understood why Jason and Ethan stood next to me while my father told the story. My anger went down to the pit of my stomach. Because the pain that I felt for my sister became stronger and I felt the tears sting my eyes. I had to excuse myself. My girl was stuck in a hospital bed and my baby sister was being held with lies. I knew I needed to protect Aurora. If anyone found out what she meant to me. She would be in more danger than she already was. The women in our family need to go into hiding. Including my female members. I can’t take a chance of any of them being in harm’s way. I stood on the porch and lit up a smoke.

“Hey man, do you want to go take a shower and then head back to the hospital?” Ethan said while standing next to me. A tear fell from my eye.

“Did you hear what my father said about Anna?”

“I did and I’m sorry. Anna didn’t deserve that.” I just sighed.

“How am I going to fix this? I feel lost Ethan. I feel powerless.”

“But that’s far from the truth, and now Ryder is back. You have to work together on this. We all have to work together.” Ethan took my smoke.

“Your my best friend and all, but I will still

Pound your face in.” I said as I snatched my smoke back from him. Of course, Ethan laugh. “I’m going for a shower. Tell my father that I want a meeting with him in an hour.” Ethan nodded his head and I headed back inside.

An hour later my father sat in the study waiting for me. “I think we need to put our women into hiding.” My father looked up at me.

“I hear you and Aurora have gotten close.” Of course, he has.

“I don’t want to get into that now. I want to get them all protected. I can’t handle it if these people get their hands on any more of us. Aurora is already in the hospital.” Ryder nodded his head at me. He stood up and turned to look at me.

“I’ll get everything set up and make sure we get protection on them. We have to have Aurora moved now. I will set up a doctor to take care of her in hiding.”

“I will be the one to move her. Just find the place and get this going.” He nodded at me and left the room. I got dressed and headed back to the hospital. I knew Aurora was upset with me and didn’t want me around, but she was damn well going to listen.

“But Nick, I don’t want to go,” Aurora said crossing her arms. She was being stubborn and I knew she wasn’t feeling good, but I had to get her out of here. She was refusing to move. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the yelling.

“Do you not trust me?” I snapped at her. She didn’t say anything. That’s it, I walked over to her and picked her up into my arms bridal style.

“Nick!” She yelled out. Only it hurt her and she grabbed her ribs. I walked out of the hospital with her in my arms. Ethan walked up to us and covered her with a blanket. I sat in the car with her still in my arms.

“You’re my responsibility.” Aurora just sighed and kept her mouth shut. We pulled up in front of Jason’s home. Men were moving things and getting ready to close the house down. Aurora’s mother waited outside an SUV for Aurora. I walked her over and placed her inside the car.

“Where are you going?” Aurora asked me before I walked away. I took a seat next to her.

“You are going into hiding baby. I need you to be a good girl and just do as your told for now.”

“This is bad right?” I nodded my head at her. I took her hands into mine and kissed them.

“I know you’re mad at me and you think I don’t care, but you would be wrong. If anything else happens to you. I won’t forgive myself. I need you safe.” Aurora looked sad. I ran my finger across her cheek.

“But I want to help you.”

“You can’t help anyone right now. You will help me by going into hiding where I know you will be safe.” Her eyes filled with tears and I couldn’t help but place my lips to hers. She kissed me with force. I knew she cared and wanted to be with me. I just needed her safe. “I love you.” Words that I haven’t spoken. Came pouring from my mouth. Aurora’s eyes got huge. I kissed her again and got out of the car. Aurora just watched me as the car took off. There were two men to each woman. Needless to say, they were heavily Guarded. I hung my head and headed to find my father.

I’m not sure what angel was watching out for us. But once we were all ready to go and loaded into the cars. We all heard a loud rumble. Just as we were moving. The house exploded behind us. Thank god everyone was gone. It was a message to let us know they were a step in front of us. To let us know to back off. Only want they didn’t know understand was. I was out for blood and nothing was going to stop me.

We kept moving and I was lost in thought when my phone started to go off. The number was unknown and I was not going to answer it at first. Then I changed my mind. “Hello?”

“Nick?”

“Anna? Anna is that you?”

“It’s Izzy, not Anna. Nick, I need to talk to you.”

“Where are you? Let me come to you?” That’s when I heard her hang up the phone. “Damnit!” I yelled out. My father’s eyes were locked on mine.

“Was that Anna?” I looked up at him.

“Yes, but she hung up. Do you think she is being put up to something? Maybe a way to draw us out?”

“I don’t know son, but if she called once she will call again.”
