It only took a week and my brother had a house set up for Sebastian and I. Ethan stayed behind with us while Nick and Aurora went to take care of business. I had literally put all my trust into my brother. My only rule was that Ryder knew nothing. At least not until all lies were layer to rest and I knew the truth.
Sebastian and Ethan have seemed to become friends. They have a lot in common. There was even one night where I was sitting outside on the porch. It was hot but there was a nice breeze. I had made a fresh pitcher of strawberry lemonade. Ethan decided to join me. “I like him, Anna.” He said as Sebastian passed us and went inside the cabin. I smiled at him and took a drink.
“Yeah, I kind of like him too.” Ethan smiled.
“I love him and I believe he has been fed the same bullshit that I have. I don’t believe he has anything to do with any of this.”
“I agree with you. He loves you. I don’t mean to step on any of your boundaries, but your brother is telling you the truth. I know you have heard this already. I just want you to know it’s true.”
“I believe my brother, Ethan. That’s not the question at hand. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be putting myself, my baby, and my man in his hands. What’s still bothering me is that fact that maybe even Nick has been fed bullshit and even he doesn’t know the whole truth.” I could tell that I had the wheels in Ethan’s head turning.
“I understand Anna. Can I ask you a question?” I nodded at him. “Izzy?” I just smiled and shook my head.
“It’s what my father Draco apparently wanted to name me. Everything I have been told has come from my uncle’s mouth. He is the one behind everything and has been very convincing. Considering that he has always seemed to know everything. He never once told me my mother was killed. Even before I contacted Nick. I was already having my own suspicions. It’s the reason I asked Sebastian to run with me. He has risked his life to hide me.” Ethan stood up and patted my hand.
“You’re going to be safe now. Even if for some reason I have to step in and protect you myself.” I stood up and have Ethan a hug. Once upon a time, Ethan and I were close. We were both only fourteen years old, but we thought we loved each other. Of course, we were just kids and knew nothing about love. I’ve always felt that even though I knew that. Ethan had always cared about me.
It’s was close to three am when Sebastian’s phone started to go off. I have always been a very light sleeper. I heard it right away. I sat up and so did Sebastian. I watched him grab his phone. “It’s your brother.” I calmed down and laid back. I heard Sebastian say a few words and then he hung up. “I need you to wake up baby. We are being moved tonight.” I nodded at him as he left the room to get Ethan going.
I felt my anxiety rise. Please god, let me be making the right decision. I said to myself as I started to get dressed. My baby moved and I could feel it. I touched my stomach and set on the edge of the bed. “Are you okay?” Sebastian said as he rushed to my side. I smiled at him and reached out to touch his face.
“Everything is okay. Our baby just moved around. I love you Sebastian and if I have been wrong and we are hurt or even worse killed. I just want you to know how much I love you and what you mean to me.” He closed his eyes and pressed his face into my hand.
“I believe we are on the right path. I may only know what you know, but I know more than you think.” I wanted to question him but I knew that was a conversation for a different time. After about twenty minutes and me sitting on the couch watching Sebastian and Ethan going to town getting everything in order. There was a light tap on the door. Ethan pulled his gun and Sebastian opened the door. Nicolas came walking in. He came to my side and asked if we were all ready to go. We headed outside and Nick put us all into a black SUV. Our first stop was the airport and that alone was a four-hour drive.
It took almost sixteen hours but we were finally there. Nicolas had a house set up for us that looked almost the same as our cabin. Only this wasn’t a cabin. The house was two stories and placed in the middle of the woods. We were two hours away from any town. The home had everything you could need and out back was a huge pond. I had a covered porch on both the front and the back of the house. The home had Central heat and air conditioning. We also had two guards that Nick hired outside of the family. The two guards, Nick and Sebastian were lost in conversation. There was a second smaller house by ours and it belonged to the guards. They were being paid very well to watch over us. Even though Sebastian really didn’t need the help. I think in the long run. It will help him to relax better.
“I want to show you something,” Nick said. I took his hand and followed him. He took me up the stairs and then opened a door. The room was decorated as a nursery. “I’m not sure how long any of this is going to take. I wanted to have this for you and my niece or nephew.” I smiled as I felt tears sting my eyes.
“It was more Aurora than myself.” I turned and looked at him.
“You love her don’t you?” Nick smiled and scratched his head.
“I do, but...” I cut him off.
“Don’t do that Nick, Aurora has always cared about you. Don’t overthink how you feel.”
“I know how I feel about her, but I’m worried.” I cocked my head at him and took a seat in the rocker that was in the room.
“Worried?” I questioned him. Nick walked over to the window.
“Look at what has happened to all the people I love. Our own mother went through hell knowing our father. I’m just worried something will happen to her.”
“Nick, that’s always going to be a factor. This is the life we live. We will always have to look over our backs. You can’t base your life on worry or you will never have one. You deserve to be in love and be happy and I know Aurora will love you with all she has. She has always been that type of woman.” He smiled at me.
“How did you get so smart and kind?” I giggled at him.
“I’ve been through a lot and it has taught me so much.”
“Anna, finding you has been such a lift off my back. You have been my goal for years. I’m so glad you are trusting me.” I knew all of this has been hard on him. Nothing he could say would make me think otherwise. I’m didn’t want them to go but to keep any suspicions down. They couldn’t stay. I of course cried and Nick promised me he would be back. He didn’t want us to leave and they had to bring supplies. The guards however were left with a vehicle in case there were any emergencies and we all had cell phones and weapons. The house was loaded with guns. You couldn’t see them but they were there. Nick also promised to phone or text us at least once a day. Aurora and I couldn’t stop hugging. Sebastian just shook his head.
“You would think someone died,” Sebastian said. I rolled my eyes.
“Women,” Ethan said. All Nick could do was smile.
“I’ll see you soon,” Aurora said and I hugged her tighter. I stood at the door and watched them drive off. The area was quiet. Just like back at the cabin. I watched as the guards set up point, by their cabin. Sebastian came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
“How are you feeling baby?” He asked in my ear. I was still a little nervous, but I didn’t want to worry him.
“You promise?” I nodded at him. “Do you want to come and help me unpack and you can start nesting?” The house was completely furnished with all new items. Only Sebastian knew I would go in and make it all my own. Nesting was a huge deal to me. I had to make changes so that I was comfortable. Only at that moment I was tired and wanted to lay down. It was only eight in the morning, but the trip didn’t allow me to rest much. I could feel it hitting me hard.
“I’d like to lay down.” Sebastian nodded and picked me up bridal style. “I can walk you know,” I said to him still smiling with my arms around him.
“I know but this is our new home and I want to carry you over the threshold.” Sebastian could be the sweetest man when he wanted to be. It only made me love him that much more, and I hoped my brother would feel this love someday.
