TWENTY FOUR

Ryder’s POV,

“Are you sure this is right Nicolas?” My father, the big tough gangster looked scared. My sister looked just like my mother I knew this was going to be hard on him. I knew he was worried about how this was going to go down.

“It’s what needs to be done. She needs to know you had nothing to do with her kidnapping. She needs to know you never sent her away to be brutalized. She needs to know how much you loved her.” Ryder just sat there looking at the ground.

“I miss her so much and I have been keeping an eye on her for years.”

“She needs to know this, and now she is willing to see you.”

“What if she is scared of me?”

“She is scared of you. You have to do this gently. Dad, Anna is seven months pregnant and has a fiancé.” My father’s eyes grew big.

“I know about her fiancé. I didn’t know she was pregnant.” I just looked at him.

“We need her, she knows more about Cane than any of us.” My father nodded his head at me. Then he stood up.

“Let’s go.”

Anna’s POV,

I paced the house over and over. The man I loved as my own father. The man my uncle said had me kidnapped and hurt was on his way to me now. My heart wouldn’t calm down. My body was alive with worry. Sebastian and Aurora both tried to calm me, but it wasn’t working. Even though in the back of my head and my heart. I somehow knew he wasn’t responsible. I was still filled with fear. I didn’t know what was the truth and what was lies anymore. All I knew was I missed my parents and I would never see my mother again. All I had was Ryder, but then my head would fight with my heart. Did I have Ryder? The man that I was lead to believe had me taken and hurt?

“Baby, I made you some ice tea. Why don’t you come sit and have a drink?” I knew Sebastian was trying and I loved him for it, but my stomach was too upset for food or drink. “I’ll rub your feet.” I looked over at him and smiled. Poor Aurora had worry written all over her face. I just sighed and took a seat on the couch. Sebastian handed me my glass and then he sat down in front of me and started to rub my feet. I only gave in so they would calm down, but I was still scared.

Nicolas called to let us know they were on their way. It only takes them an hour to get here. I started to panic and it showed. “Maybe this is not a good idea,” Sebastian said and sat next to me. I took a deep breath.

“No, I’m fine. I need to do this. Otherwise, I’m going to constantly question everything and that’s going to drive me crazy.” Sebastian pulled me into his arms. “I promise you I’ll be okay.” Sebastian kissed my head.

“I know this is hard, but I can promise you are in no danger,” Aurora said and she took the seat next to me. I sighed again.

“I won’t let anyone hurt you,” Sebastian whispered into my ear. I knew he would die for me and our baby. It had been just a little over an hour and I must have fallen asleep. Sebastian was trying to wake me. “Baby they are here. Nicolas wants to speak to you.” I looked over at my brother. He looked worried. I looked around the house but I didn’t see anyone else.

“He is outside waiting for you to be ready. Do you want him to come in? Or for us to go outside?” Nicolas asked.

“Is he alone?” I asked.

“Ethan is with him. It’s only us, no others came.” I took a deep breath. I stood up and everyone had their eyes on me. Like if they were ready to catch me if I fell. I shake my hands and told myself to just breathe. I started walking towards the door and everyone followed me. I opened the front door and about two hundred yards was a long black limo. I walked out to the porch and stood there just looking at the car. I could feel everyone behind me. I bit my lip and walked out to the steps. That’s when I heard a door open. The man I only ever knew as my father stepped out of the car. Our eyes met and something came over me. I started to move towards him. He stayed still and didn’t move from the car. His face was full of pain. The others started to follow me.

“Stop,” I said and put my hand out to them. They all stopped. I nodded at them. I turned to face him again and still he hadn’t moved. The man I had been afraid of for years now stood in front of me. Completely vulnerable and looking sad. I moved closer to him. He moved a little closer to me. I stopped and stood there for a moment.

“I’ve missed you so much, socks.” His words hit me like a ton of bricks. Tears started to fall from my eyes.

“Tell me it wasn’t true? Tell me you didn’t hurt me, daddy.” Tears started to fall from his eyes.

“I would never hurt you. I love you, socks. They took you from me. Cane did this to you. He brainwashed you to keep you from us.” I moved closer to him.

“Do you promise?” He nodded at me and I went into his arms. He hugged me and started to cry.

“I love you. You are my daughter no matter what anyone says. I’ll never let them near you again.” My tears wouldn’t let up.

“I missed you daddy so much. I’m so sorry about mama.” He hugged me tighter. I knew his heart was broken over her.

“She loved you so much.” He whispered in my ear. “Please don’t fear me. I can’t take that any longer.”

“I don’t fear you.” Ryder went to his knees and wrapped his arms around me again.

“I would never in a million years harm you. I would die for you.” At that moment I believed him. All the pain and suffering I went through turned my hurt into anger. I knew my uncle had lied to me. How could he do this to me? All I could see was red.

“He needs to die.” The words came out of my mouth and I had to take a second to be sure it was me that said it. Ryder looked up at me.

“That’s not something I want you to worry about.”

“Oh, I’m beyond worried about it. He killed my mother and took my innocence from me. I will kill him with my own hands.” Ryder looked worried once again and the rest of them joined us.

“You will be going no way near him,” Nicolas announced. Ryder was now standing and Nick had his arms crossed. Sebastian was at my side. Aurora held onto Nick’s arm.

“He is mine,” I said through my teeth.

“So your pregnant ass is just going to what? Waddle up to him and take him out?” Nick said still crossing his arms. Sebastian, Aurora, and Ethan all had smiled on their faces. I took a deep breath.

“Not funny Nick!” I hissed out.

“Who’s trying to be fucking funny? You not going near him. I’ll lock your ass up myself.” I felt Ryder’s hand on my shoulder.

“He is right, there is no way that’s happening.” The tears started to come again, but only this time they were angry tears.

“You all have no idea why I went through. What he put me through.” Sebastian pulled me into his arms.

“I promise you, baby. He will die for this.” I looked up at Sebastian.

“Yeah, by my hands.” Nick just looked away and Ryder stayed quiet.

“Let’s all just calm down and have a seat and talk,” Ethan said trying to get us all relaxed. Over the next hour in front of all of them. I told my story. Some cried and some had looks of anger on their faces. My father looked the worse. I now knew Nick never shared my story with him. I moved closer to him and he just kept his head down.

“This is not your fault.” He looked up at me and gave me a small smile. I knew he was blaming himself and no matter what I said. He wasn’t going to stop.

“We will get him. That much I can promise you.” I leaned over and kissed his cheek.
