Blae POV

Thayer grabs my face and looks me over, “are you ok,” he asks.

“Yes, I’m fine, are you ok.”

“I’m fine. I need you to do something for me ok. Call your dad and tell him that the calls coming in about gunshots will be us so stand down.”

“My father helped you,” I gasped.

“Yes, now do it.”

He grabs two big ass silver guns with pearl handles from the back of his pants and steps out the car shooting. “Oh my God!!” I grab my phone and call my dad. I tell him what Thayer said and hang up.

“It’s done Thayer.”

He nods. Now stay down and no matter what you hear don’t get out of this car.

I nod. For once I don’t want to know what’s going on.

Thayer’s cousins are in a shootout with two SUV’s. Vlad, Ian Thayer are in hand to hand combat with five guys. I’m a little worried for them, because it’s so many. But I didn’t need to. Thayer and his team move so beautifully, almost like choreograph dancing. Thayer swings his legs and kicks one guy in the chin and then drives another guy head into his knee, and he blocks and punches, then drops down to do a leg sweep at the same time picking his gun off the ground and shooting the rest of the guys they are fighting. It’s all fascinating until I’m grabbed by my hair and pulled from the vehicle. He’s trying to drag me away, so I start to kick and scream for Thayer.

All the attention is on us now. The cousins are done with their guys.

“Nobody moves or she gets it.”

“Don’t you need her alive,” said Thayer.

“Not if my life is in danger.”

I look at Thayer and he stares at me intensely, I feel like he’s trying to tell me something, but what I really want to know is why this guy needs me alive, is this my kidnapper. Then an idea comes to me.

Suddenly out of nowhere I sag so hard that I almost drop to the ground. He’s so busy trying to keep me as his shield that he doesn’t see Thayer pull a knife from its holster.

“Sit up here bitch,” was the last words he said before he hit the ground with a knife sticking from his forehead.

Thayer ran to me and pulled me into his arms.

I started crying, becoming emotional. Thayer says nothing, just let me cry as he holds me.

“This is tear jerking and all, but can we get the hell out of here? They might have a damn sniper somewhere,” said Thayer’s cousin Parlon.

“Yes, and Joseph can only hold them for so long,” said Calder.

“Is anyone alive,” said Thayer.

“No, I don’t think so.”

Thayer curse. “I want some news, anything damn it.”

“Thayer,” I place my hand on his chest, let’s go home.”

He nodded, “call the cleaners,” we got in the car and drove home.

When we make it home it’s dark and I’m ready to get in the shower and sleep.

“Thayer, I’m going to take a shower.”

He nodded, I kissed him and went to get in the shower. I shower for a long time to get the stench of death from my body.

I walk out the room and Thayer is sitting on the bed looking calm, but I come to realize that is only a façade.

“What is this,” he held up my phone and I saw my missed call list.

I cursed.

“Thayer, that’s only the bookers, that’s how I tune in to my meetings without actually being there, you said I could have this remember.”

“Why is Scott’s name on here so many times.”

“He’s just worried about me, that’s all as well as the rest of them.”

I walk to my dresser and pull out my cream silk nightgown and put it on. I refuse to hold a conversation with him while I’m naked.

“Let’s take a walk.” He grabs my hands and leads me down the stairs and out the front door toward the woods out back.

“Thayer where is ash,” I ask.

“Ivan has him, he’s grown on him.”

“Thayer, where are we going.”

“To the lake.”

I start to panic, “Thayer are you mad at me? I won’t facetime them anymore. I just want some semblance of normalcy in my life like I used to have.”

“So I’m fucking up your life, is that what you’re saying, I’m taking everything from you.”

I try to snatch my hand from him but he squeezes it tight.

“No Thayer, I would rather have you, but I still want my own life.”

We go further into the woods and approach the lake and I just know he’s going to shoot me and throw me in.

I start crying, “what is this.”

He tilted his head to the side, “what do you think it is.”

“Thayer please tell me what’s going on, whatever it is I’ll fix it please, I don’t have to attend my book club meetings, I’ll find another one with all women.”

“I want you to marry me, you could already be carrying my baby, I want us to be a family.”

Damn, I walk right into that one. I remain silent, that is not what I was expecting.

“I thought we already talked about this.”

He starts to advance on me, and I take a step back.

“Thayer please.”

“This motherfucker calling your phone and texting you about your whereabouts, who’s your fucking man Blae, who you answer to.”

“I answer to you Thayer, please, we are supposed to be talking and working things out, remember.”

He snatched me suddenly and grabbed the back of my neck and pushed me down to my knees.

I catch myself with my arms, I focus my eyes and start to struggle.

“Thayer that’s an ant bed, you know I’m allergic to ants!”

“I want you to marry me Blae or your ass will be in the ER tonight. Say yes damn it.”

I scream. “ Thayer, they are in my hair,” since my hair is hanging low. That is the first thing they climb on.

“Yes, yes I’ll marry you. Please help me!!!.

He picks me up, runs and jumps with me in the lake. I come up spluttering and swinging.

“Thayer, why did you do that,” I say, hitting him.

“It was the only way to get the ants off you, so you’ll marry me.”

I look into his eyes and see the insecurity. He’s afraid that I’ll leave and is looking for any way to make me stay. He thinks I’ll leave him for Scott or any other man and this is his way of tying me to him.

“Yes, Thayer I’ll marry you, ” I said and kiss him right there under the moon.

“I love you Blae.”

I put my pinky finger in my ear and wiggle the water out to make sure I heard him right.

“You love me Thayer.”

“Yes Blae, I love you, these feelings I’m feeling have to be love. The thought of you in danger makes my pulse rate speed up and I’m scared for you, when you are not around me I think about you constantly.”

I kiss him again.

“Oh Thayer I love you too, so much I.I.. c..can’t bel.”

“Hush a minute baby,” Thayer turned his ear towards the woods and out of nowhere a shot rang out. Thayer grabs me and covers me. I hear a grunt and see blood in the water.

“Oh my God!!, Thayer you’re shot,” I say looking at his arm.

“Blae hush baby and calm down,” he says pulling out his guns.

He closes his eyes and focuses on something in the woods. He holds his gun up and fires. We hear a scream far away.

Damn!. Thayer is a fucking ninja, he kick people ass with his bare hands and shoot people in the woods in the dark with his eyes close. I don’t stand a chance against him and I see now that he has been holding back, he could have been killed me.

All the shooting has brought his cousins and team out.

“Did you find someone in the woods bleeding,” asks Thayer.

“Nope. You’re the only guy we see bleeding,” said Parlon.

I rip my nightgown and tie it around his arm to stop the bleeding, “it looks like it scrapped you. Thayer, can we go back to the house; I’m not feeling well. I want to lay down.”

“Yes, we can, guys can you take over here Blae is not feeling well.”

“Yeah go ahead we got this,” said Casper.

We make it back to the room. I go to the bathroom and grab the first aid kit and bandage Thayer’s arm.

“Thayer, can you hold me while I lay down,” I say, stripping from the wet clothes.

“In a minute Blae I need to talk to you about your blackouts.”

“You’re going to take me to a doctor.”

“No baby, I know why you’ve been having blackouts. Sit down, let’s talk.
