Chapter 26 I'm Being Kidnapped

When Caroline arrived at the company, she went to her office as Joseph followed behind her. She sat on her chair and Joseph handed her some documents. “Here are the background checks you asked for. I found some other information on Miss Breanna Rees and this is Mr. Luis Gomez, her boyfriend.”

Joseph handed Caroline the document, then he handed her the iPad he held in his hand. “I have created your Newser account, just like you instructed, Ms. King. I’ve already followed your family and friends. You are already verified, as well.”

Caroline looked at the profile Joseph made, and it only had one picture. The picture was from the auction hosted by C&K International. Caroline looked at the number of followers and then she looked at the few people under “following.” She scrolled past the few people until she found an account that caught her attention.

“Why is Liam Sabbatini here?” Joseph glanced at the screen and then responded, “we are currently doing business with him. I thought it was okay to-.”

“Our partnership is not announced to the public yet. There is no need to be doing such foolish things.”

“Yes, Ms. King.” After a pause, Joseph added. “If you want, I can remove-.”

“No need. I will leave him there for now. You may leave.” Joseph bowed his head and left her office. He let out a sigh of relief as soon as the door closed. He fixed his tie that was suffocating him along with the air inside Caroline’s office. He truly couldn’t spend much time around his boss without feeling anxious.

Inside the office, Caroline clicked on Liam’s profile. She looked at the pictures and there were no pictures of her. She chuckled when she remembered she hacked into Newser and deleted everything related to her and Liam, erasing any trace of their relationship. She looked through the few pictures Liam had, which were mostly about business.

Caroline looked at a picture and tried to zoom in on Liam’s face, but accidentally ended up licking the picture. She instantly panicked and deleted the like. She exited out of the app and turned off the iPad. She resumed her work, pretending nothing happened.

In the CEO office on Sabbatini Group, Liam was signing a document when he got a notification from Newser. He put down his pen and looked at his phone. Normally, he wouldn’t get notifications, but when he found out Caroline made an account, he instantly followed her back and turned on all of her notifications, to see when she posted a new picture, comment, or what posts she would like or comment on.

Liam’s account had millions of followers, but he was only following one person, Caroline. He looked at the notification and saw Caroline had licked one of his pictures where he was alone, but unlike his other pictures where he showed no emotion, he wore a smirk on his face.

Back at C&K International, Caroline was finally done with her work and was ready to go home. She stood up from the chair and looked out the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the beautiful sunset. She thought of the twins and rushed to grab her designer handbag and leave her office.

When she reached the entrance of the company, the sun had already set. She was waiting for the valet to arrive with her SUV when a black Rolls Royce parked in front of her. A man wearing a dark suit with perfectly polished shoes stepped off the luxurious car. He walked closer to her and she refused to react. She only planned on ignoring him and wait for her SUV and then go home.

“Are you just going to ignore me?” Asked the arrogant man. Without looking at him, Caroline continued to stand her ground. She watched as her Lamborghini approached her and she got ready to get on and leave.

The man from the valet got off and approached her. “Have a good evening, Ms. King.” Caroline was about to walk to the driver’s seat when Liam took a hold of her wrist. He pulled her closer to him and pulled her into his arms.

Caroline struggled to get free from his grip. “What are you doing? Let go of me.” Liam leaned close to her ear and hovered his lips over it before whispering, “don’t make a scene, princesses. You wouldn’t want to be attracting attention towards us, would you?” Caroline looked around and saw some employees around. She stopped trying to get free and pressed her face against his chest to avoid getting recognized or even worse, getting her picture taken. Liam looked at the woman in his arms and showed a faint smile on his face. He looked at the valet parking employee and said, “have a good evening.”

The man was left so speechless, he couldn’t even respond. In the past four years, Caroline has never seen in such a way with a man. Liam walked Caroline closer to the SUV and made her get on the back seat. He closed it with the child safety lock and walked to the driver’s seat.

As he passed by the back door, Caroline opened the door and he got in the middle, preventing her from getting off. He locked the door with the child safety lock and closed it. He got on the SUV and drove away, leaving the valet worker wondering about what he had just witnessed.

“What are you doing? Where are you taking me?” Liam remained silent. “I’ve already told you I want nothing to do with you! Get out of my car!” Still, with Caroline hitting his shoulder and insulting him as he drove, he remained calm as he drove through the streets of Miami.

When they arrived at a red light, Liam turned his head to look at her. Before they made eye contact, Caroline looked out the window and sat back against the seat with her arms crossed. Liam stared at her and chuckled. He looked back at the road and started driving when the light turned green.

When they arrived at the dock, Liam got off the SUV and opened the back door. He looked inside and commanded, “come on. Let’s go.” Caroline gave him a death stare and then she looked away. “Fine.”

Liam grew impatient of waiting and closed the door. He walked away, leaving by herself inside the Lamborghini. “This bastard is not planning on living me here, is he?” She watched him walk away and she grew angrier. “This asshole. How could he let me locked inside my own car? I will kill him when he lets me out!”

Caroline fetched her cellphone from her handbag and unblocked Liam’s phone number. She gave Liam a call. The call went straight to voicemail. She redialed his number until the call finally went through after the eighth time. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Why did you leave me here? Open the fucking door, you asshole!”

“I’m sorry, who is this?”

“I think you have the wrong number, Miss.” Caroline paused for a second and then said, “my mistake.” She instantly hung up the call.

The captain of Liam’s yacht handed Liam his smartphone back. “Here you go, sir. Would you mind if I ask you why you had me answer the call?” Liam looked at the man in front of him and said, “my wife was mad at me and blocked my number. I was teaching her a lesson.”

Confused by what Liam just told him, the middle-aged man just nodded and said, “oh, okay.” Liam looked at his yacht and asked, “is everything ready?”

“Yes, you’re all set.”

“Thank you.” Liam said goodbye and walked back to Caroline’s Lamborghini. He opened the back door and Caroline got off. “Where the fuck were you? You left me in there for an hour! Why the fuck are we here? Answer me!” Caroline hit his chest as she spoke, channeling all her anger into her palms. She was hitting him so hard it got to the point where she was almost pushing him.

Liam grew enraged with Caroline’s behavior and grabbed her wrists. “Let me go!” Caroline tried to pull back her hands, but Liam did not let go. “No. I’m not letting you go.” He let go of one of her wrists to pick her up. Caroline took the perfect opportunity and slapped him with her free hand. He looked at her with his fierce eyes right after the harsh slap. She was taken aback by his enraged expression. She should not have done that.

Liam picked her up and carried her over his shoulder. He closed the door of the Lamborghini and started walking. Caroline move her hands and kicked her feet, trying to get free. “Help!” She screamed, “help! I’m being kidnapped!”

“You’re only wasting your breath. There is no one other than us here.” Caroline refused to give up hope. “Help! Help me! I’m being kidnapped! Help!” Despite all of her screams and hitting his back, Liam would not let her go.

Liam carried her all the way to his luxurious yacht at the end of the dock. He carried her to the master bedroom and threw her on the bed. He grabbed her cellphone which was sticking out through the pocket on her blazer. He walked out of the bedroom and closed the door.

Caroline hurried to the door. She heard the door being locked through the outside. She tried opening the door, but it was locked. She banged on the door and exclaimed, “open the door, Liam!” She continued banging loudly against the door. “Liam, open the fucking door!”

On the other side of the door, Liam placed his hand on the cheek she had slapped earlier. “When did she get so strong?” He wondered.

A few minutes later, Caroline had given up on banging on the door, instead, she was looking around the bedroom for something to open the door with. She then looked out the window and saw that they had already left the dock.

Caroline continued to look around the room for the key. She looked all over the bedroom and spent a long time looking for the key. When she finally found the key under the mattress, she walked to the door and opened it. She went up the stairs all the way to the top of the yacht, looking for Liam.

When Caroline reached the top of the yacht, she found Liam looking out the sea and turning the helm. “Liam.”

“You finally got out. It took you longer than I expected... Look, it’s a beautiful evening.”

“What the hell are we doing here? Why did you bring me here with you?” Liam put the yacht on autopilot and stood up from the chair. “Take the helm.”

“What?” He walked away and went down the stairs. “Where the hell are you going? You need to take me back to the dock! Liam!” Liam went to the kitchen, completely ignoring Caroline’s shouts. “Liam!” Liam shouted back, “just make sure you don’t crash against the other boats!” He grabbed a coffee mug and served some coffee from the batched he had made earlier.

Caroline, who was looking at all the buttons surrounding the helm, found that Liam placed the yacht on autopilot. She turned off the autopilot and started turning the yacht around. Liam, sensing the yacht change course, walked back up the stairs. He looked at Caroline moving the helm and she looked at him to see if he would say anything about her changing their course. “Coffee?”

“You know I don’t drink coffee.” Caroline looked back in front and Liam commented, “you pilot pretty well. You should be a captain. In fact, why don’t you wear this.” Liam grabbed the captain hat he wore on his head and placed it on Caroline’s head. “It looks good on you.”

“Instead of making fun of me why sipping your coffee, you should be taking us back to the dock. I have to go home tonight.”

“No can do.” Liam sat on one of the couches nearby and quietly sipped his coffee. “Do you even know where we’re headed?”

“Of course, I know.” Liam stood up and walked closer to her. “Really? Because it seems to me, you’re taking us north instead of going back to the dock.” Liam put down the coffee mug and sat next to her. He placed his hand on top of hers and slowly moved the helm.

Liam was so close; she could feel his breathing brushing against her ear. Liam turned his head and brushed his lips against her ear. Unconsciously, Caroline tilted her head to the side. Liam smirked and placed a peck against her neck. Caroline instantly brought herself to react. She slipped her hand from under Liam’s and stood up.

Caroline stood a few feet behind him. She searched her pockets for her cellphone and then remembered Liam had taken it. “Give me my phone,” she demanded. Liam had already stopped the yacht. He was sipping his coffee as he looked out the sea.
