Chapter 27 Can't I Tease You

Caroline stepped closer to him and repeated, “give me my phone” Liam placed down the mug once again and looked at her. He stood up and said, “I’m not giving you your phone.”

“Then I’ll take it.” Caroline placed her hands on him and tried to feel her phone through his suit. As she pressed her hands on his body, he tried stopping her. He took a hold of her wrists. Then she snapped. “What are you planning? Why are we in the middle of the ocean?”

“You have been avoiding me since we met again. You will not get off this boat until you tell me why you keep avoiding me.”

“I’m leaving.”

“You can’t. I won’t let you. We can stay here for over four weeks. I can take care of my work from here. We’ll go wherever the ocean takes us, princess.” Caroline pulled her hands back and he let go of her wrists as she said, “we’ll see about that.” Caroline went down the stairs.

Liam waited a few seconds before going after her. Caroline was going to the swim platform. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. It is very dangerous to swim at night.”

“I don’t care.”

“There might be sharks there.”

“I don’t care.”

“Stop being so stubborn, Caroline.”

“Aren’t you being stubborn as well? All I ask of you is to take me back to the dock. Since you practically kidnaped me, I’ll escape even if it is through swimming.”

“Caroline, wait.” He followed behind her and grabbed her arm. He pulled her closer to him and held him in his arms. “Do you really hate me that much, enough to want to jump into the water? Caroline, tell me. Do you really hate me that much?”

Caroline looked into his eyes and remembered all the terrible things he has done to her. All the times he has hurt her came flashing through her mind. She recalled how many tears she shed. She looked at him dead in the eye and responded, “I hate you more than words can express.” Enraged, Caroline walked away and went back up the stairs, Leaving Liam alone.

Thousands of miles from the yacht, Elizabeth was sitting in the dining room with everyone sitting on their seats but Caroline. “Where is Caroline?” She asked. “She didn’t say she was going to be late,” Taekyung responded. “Maybe she is stuck at work,” Mark followed up. “I called her earlier, but she didn’t respond. She might be busy,” said Persephone. “Alright, we can call her again after dinner.”

Back at the yacht, Caroline was sitting down as she watched Liam pilot the luxurious boat. She turned to look at her surroundings and saw a fishing boat passing by. She glanced at Liam and then she stood up. She stood next to him and started shouting. “Help me! Help!”

“Don’t bother. They can’t hear you.” Caroline continued looking at the boat that was passing right in front of them. “Help! Help me!”

“Don’t waste your energy.”

“Help!”

“You want to scream? I can think of better ways you can do so.” Liam added a hint of cockiness to the end of the sentence. Caroline glared at him and said, “It’s not funny.”

“Who said I’m trying to be funny?” Caroline rolled her eyes. Liam stopped the yacht and turned to look at her. “Listen, princess. All I want is for us to talk. Can’t we talk like civilized people?” Caroline crossed her arms. “Sure, because kidnapping me is part of you being civilized.” Liam stayed silent.

Caroline looked out to the sea and said, “fine. If you want to talk, let’s talk. Let’s go back to land and we could go to a restaurant and have a nice little chat.” Liam chuckled. “You are a terrible liar, princess.” Caroline clicked her tongue and walked away.

After Caroline was sitting down, Liam turned his head to look at her and asked, “are you hungry?”

Back at the mansion, after having dinner, Elizabeth called Caroline’s cellphone again and again. “Why isn’t she answering? Did something happen to her?”

“Have you heard from Caroline?” Asked Persephone as she stepped inside the living room. “No, her phone seems to be turned off. I wonder where she could be.” Mia walked closer to Elizabeth and tugged on the hem of her dress. “Abuela, do you know where mommy is? I miss her.”

“I know you do, Mia. Mommy should be here any minute now. Don’t worry.”

“Why don’t you try calling her assistant? He might know where she is,” Mark suggested. “Do any of you have his number?” Both Mark and Persephone shook their head. Then, Taekyung remembered he had done business with Caroline and had Joseph’s phone number. “I have it,” said Taekyung as he took out his cellphone to dial Joseph’s number.

Joseph answered the call and Taekyung asked, “is Caroline still at the office?”

“No, Mr. Choi. She left at six, like usual.”

“Do you know where she is?”

“No, I don’t.” Taekyung hung up the call and looked at Elizabeth. Her assistant said she left work at six.”

“Did he tell you where she was?”

“No, he said he didn’t know.”

“How strange,” Persephone commented, “Caroline is not the type to not come home.”

“Although that has been happing a lot recently,” said Charles. Mark instantly remembered the time Caroline did not come home and then the next day he found her getting off Liam’s car. “Could it be that they are together? Did Caroline go back to him?”

“What are you think about, Mark? You seem to be lost in your thoughts,” Charles spoke. “It’s nothing,” Mark responded. “Abuela, where is mommy? I want her to read me a book before going to sleep.” Elizabeth crouched down to be at eye level with the little girl. “Mommy is busy right now, but why don’t you let abuela tuck you into bed?” Mia looked down and uttered in a low and sad tone, “okay.” Elizabeth stood back up and grabbed the little girl’s hand.

“Charles, Persephone, please get Ian and Achilles. It’s time to get them ready for bed.” Persephone nodded and started making her way to the playroom. Persephone was walking down the corridor as Charles followed behind her. He smirked and grabbed her wrist. He pulled her close to him and then pinned her against the wall. “What are you doing?”

“Can’t I tease you a little? It’s fun to see you flustered like this, blondie.” Charles reached out his and placed it under her chin as he brushed his lips against hers. “You look cute when you blush like that, blondie,” he commented before locking his lips with her into a passionate kiss.

In the middle of their kiss, Achilles and Ian walked out of the playroom and saw Persephone pinned against with her arms around Charles as he held her hips. He bit her bottom lip before kissing her again. “Mommy?” At the sound of the child’s voice, Persephone separated from the kiss and pushed Charles away. She cleared her throat and walked closer to Achilles. “Hi, my little devil. It’s time to go to bed.”

“Mommy? What were you doing?”

“Nothing. Let’s go to bed.” Persephone reached out both her hands and held Achilles’ hand and Ian’s hand. She started walking towards the stairs, completely avoiding Charles’ gaze.

At that same time in Mark’s bedroom, he was completing an assignment for his business class when Taekyung walked inside his bedroom. Mark looked up from the thick book he was reading and looked at Taekyung.

Mark felt his heartbeat rise as he saw Taekyung enter his bedroom. He stood up from his chair and uttered, “what’s up?”

“When we were downstairs wondering about Caroline... You were spacing out. You know something, don’t you?”

“What are you talking about?” Taekyung stepped closer to him and asked, “what do you know?”

“I- I know nothing. I also haven’t heard from Caroline.” With his hands in his pockets, Taekyung stepped closer to Mark. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure.” Taekyung raised his eyebrow. He leaned in and Mark looked down. “What are you hiding, Mark?”

“Nothing.” Mark took a step back and met Taekyung’s gaze. “About a week ago I saw Caroline get off Liam’s car.”

“And you think she is with him now?”

“It’s most likely. She is not answering her phone; it’s probably because she is with him.” After a long pause, Mark looked at his work on the table, and then he looked back at Taekyung. “I have to continue studying.”

“Okay,” said Taekyung. He leaned in a placed a peck on Mark’s lips. “We’ll continue this later.” Taekyung started walking towards the door. He had placed his hand on the door handle when Mark called out his name. “Taekyung.” He turned back and walked closer to him.

Taekyung cupped Mark’s face with his hands and kissed his lips as he pinned him against the wall. Taekyung separated from the kiss and pressing his lips against Mark’s neck. Mark let out a whimper when Taekyung started kissing his neck. “Tae- Taekyung- ah. I have-.”

Taekyung cut him off with another kiss. Mark separated from the kiss and uttered, “you have got to stop kissing me like that.”

“Why you don’t like it? Or is it because you are bad at it? Don’t worry, you will become better with practice.”

“That’s not it- you kiss me out of nowhere.”

“It’s not like you don’t want it...” Taekyung’s eyes traveled from Mark’s eyes down on his body. He smirked and asked, “want me to help you with that?” Mark looked down and blushed even more. Without looking back at Taekyung, he exclaimed, “get out!” He was so embarrassed he could not even look at him in the eye. Taekyung paused for a second before saying, “good night.” He walked to the door and opened it. He left Mark’s bedroom and closed the door once again.

Back at the yacht, Liam was in the kitchen of the yacht cutting some vegetables to make a salad when Caroline passed by. They made eye contact and Caroline continued walking, completely ignoring him. She stood in the living room of the yacht, looking out the sea. She was lost in thought until she heard Liam groan in pain.

Caroline turned to look towards the kitchen, trying to see if he would walk out of there. She was able to make out the words he uttered as he groaned in pain. “I cut my finger.”

“What? Liam?” Caroline instantly hurried to the kitchen. “Liam, what happened?” She walked inside the kitchen and found him about the wash off the blood on his finger. He looked at her and said, “It’s a deep cut.” Caroline examined his finger and then looked around for a paper towel. She patted the paper towel on his finger as he looked at her worrying for him.

Once Caroline cleaned off the blood, she noticed the cut wasn’t deep at all. She looked at him as she said, “you didn’t cut yourself that deep... you lied to me.” She wrapped his finger on the paper towel as she applied pressure on her hand and gripped his finger tightly, making him hiss at the pressure on the fresh wound. “You’ll be okay.”

“You worried about me. If you really hated me, you wouldn’t have worried about me.” Caroline glared at him before walking away. Liam smirked and grabbed the plates with food already prepared that were on a silver tray with a silver food cover over them. He walked out of the kitchen and went to the living room, where he found Caroline lost in thought. He walked past her and went out of the dining room. He placed the tray on the table and set the table. “Come here,” he commanded.

Caroline looked at the designer watch on her wrist and instantly thought of the twins. ”They should be asleep by now. I miss them so much. My little angels. They must be wondering where I am.” Caroline looked up after being lost in thought and glared at Liam. She turned her head, avoiding his gaze. “You’re not going to eat?” Caroline said nothing. “This looks so delicious. Are you sure you don’t want anything?”

After a few seconds, Caroline glanced over at the table to look at the food. She bit her lip and her mouth watered at the sight of the medium-rare filet mignon on the plate. She turned her head once again when Liam was turning his head. He caught a glimpse of her staring at the plate in front of him.
