Chapter 28 I Have No Other Choice

“Are you sure you don’t want to eat? It will get cold,” said Liam. Caroline looked at him then at the plate on the table. She walked to the table and sat in front of Liam. “I’m not hungry. This situation has taken away my appetite.”

“Okay, whatever you say... I do think this will satisfy your taste buds, but it doesn’t matter. You are my guest and you should relax, yet you seem tenser than usual.” Caroline scoffed. “Guest? Liam, please.”

“Yes, you are my guest.”

“You do realize you kidnaped me, right? Do you seriously think you can do whatever you want?” Liam put down his fork and knife and looked at her. “Princess, I don’t think I can do whatever I want, I can do whatever I want.” Caroline rolled her eyes. Liam looked down at the plate in front of him and continued eating.

Just then, he received a phone call from his assistant. He fetched his cellphone from his pocket. “Excuse me,” he said as he stood up to answer the call. Once he was away from her sight, Caroline eagerly picked up her eating utensil. She cut a small piece of the meat and ate it. She did not know if it was because she was starving, but she felt like this was the most delicious meal she has ever had.

When Liam walked back, he slowly approached her as he asked, “do you like it? I had my chef make it.”

“I’m only eating because I can’t let food go to waste.” She took another bite and then she responded while showing no emotion, “it’s alright... But you don’t have to fire your chef. I’m sure he can improve.”

“I’ll keep that in mind for next time when we eat together.”

“There won’t be a next time.” Caroline put down the fork and knife and looked away. “You know, you are not as stubborn as you are gorgeous.” Caroline gave him a death stare and said, “I’m not stubborn.”

“Only a little.” His lips curled up into a faint smile. He looked at his buzzing phone that was on top of the table and said, “I have to take this. I will be right back.”

After Liam left, Caroline continued eating the delicious meal. As soon as she finished, she came up with a plan to get Liam to take her back to the dock. When she heard him get off the phone, she exclaimed, “Liam!” She let out a groan as he hurried to her. “What happened?”

As she groaned in pain she answered, “I’m not sure. My stomach hurts. It really hurts. I think it was the food. We should go back to land and go to the hospital. It really hurts.” She continued groaning in pain, trying to seem more convincing. He helped her walk to the couch in the living room. “Are you alright?”

“It really hurts, Liam.” He gave her a sympathetic look and said, “alright, I’ll take you to the hospital.” He looked around and said, “you must be cold, I will bring you a blanket. As Liam walked down the stairs, Caroline continued her act.

Once he was out of sight, she chuckled and said, “I’m not a bad actress. At least I will be going home now.” Liam walked back to the living room with a blanket in his hands. “Better now?” Caroline’s eye widened. She paused for a second then she continued her act. “No, Liam. I thought I was better for a second, but it hurts really bad.”

“Great acting, princess. This time I almost believed you.” Liam walked out to the table and Caroline let out a sigh. “So close,” she murmured, “I guess I’ll try again later.”

Back at the mansion, Persephone and Elizabeth were pacing back and forth around the outdoor lounge, worrying about Caroline. Charles just watched them walk from one side to the other. Charles looked at Persephone and uttered, “can you stop walking around? you’re making me dizzy.” Persephone gave her a death stare before continuing her pace. “You know, if you continue worrying about her like that, you will get wrinkles and if you get wrinkles, no man will want you.”

Persephone stopped and looked at him dead in the eye. “Bite me,” she said before pacing back and forth again. “Gladly,” he responded, making her stop. Persephone rolled her eyes and continued walking around. “Charles, could you at least act as if you were worried about your cousin?” Elizabeth asked. “Why would I worry? It’s Caroline we are talking about. She is fine.”

“What if she got kidnapped?”

“Caroline? Kidnapped? That is less likely than her going bankrupt.” Elizabeth turned to look at him and raised her eyebrow. “Remember what happened when she was young.” Persephone just stood there, looking at them, confused as ever. “What happened?” She asked. Elizabeth turned to look at her and responded, “nothing, dear. You don’t have to worry about that... Come with me, dear. Let’s drink a cup of tea.”

Persephone walked past Elizabeth and went inside the house. Before following her, Elizabeth looked at Charles and demanded, “find her.” Elizabeth and Persephone walked to the kitchen of the mansion where Elizabeth asked a maid to make them some raspberry tea.

Out in the outdoor lounge, Charles took out his cellphone from his pocket and opened the Newser application. The first thing that popped up was a post of Caroline and Liam. The post portrayed Caroline and Liam leaving the auction together. The post also portrayed them together outside of Caroline’s company. “Found you, Caroline.” Charles read the caption of the post. “Liam Sabbatini’s affair with Caroline King.”

Charles opened the comments of the post and read the comments where users were insulting Caroline and Liam. Since Liam and Rebecca had already made their engagement public, Caroline was portrayed as the mistress and Rebecca a victim of their affair.

Charles continued looking through the posts on Newser, which were all about Caroline and Liam. “They sure have great influence over the public. Well, it’s only natural since they basically own the world.”

Back at the yacht, Caroline was leaned back against the couch with her arms crossed as she glared at the man in front of her. “Am I that good-looking?”

“You haven’t taken your eyes off me. It must be because I’m handsome.” Caroline rolled her eyes. “So cocky.”

“You know, you have rolled your eyes at me many times today, but I will let it slide.” Caroline was about to roll her eyes, but she didn’t because she knew that what he just told her was a warning. He warned her that if she were to roll her eyes once again, he would punish her.

“Why do you hate me so much?”

“Are you seriously asking me that? Liam, you used me. How could I not hate an asshole like you? You lied to me.”

“Too bad you hate me that much, princess. You can’t get rid of me.” Caroline stood up and was ready to insult him. “You asshole! I never asked for you to be in my life. Hell, I never asked you to appear once again. I thought I was very clear when I left you four years ago. I don’t want anything to do with you.” Liam stood up from the couch and walked closer to her. “All I wanted to do was have a new life, a clean sleight. But all you want to do is fuck around and drive me insane. Is life really that boring to you that you have to go and turn someone else’s upside down?”

Liam said nothing. “Answer me!” Caroline hit his chest and added, “why the fuck are you still insisting on pestering me? Why don’t you get a hobby since you have so much time in your hands to kidnap me?” Caroline continued to hit his chest as her tone rose and her anger escalated.

When Caroline was about to hit him once more, he grabbed her wrists and tightened his grip. “Where were you when you disappeared for two years?”

“Answer me.”

“Why are you bringing this up now? This has nothing to do with the argument.”

“I stopped the ‘argument’ to ask you a question that has been bothering me for a long time.” Caroline chuckled and said, “why, is it bothering you? I am not your wife nor your property. You don’t need to know what I do and not do.” Caroline pulled her wrists back when she felt her blood stop flowing through her hand. She rubbed her aching wrists and added, “is it bothering you because your minions weren’t able to report where I was?”

Liam said nothing, letting Caroline know she was right. Caroline held her head high, despite the way he was treating her. That is something he loved and admired about her. He was always used to seeing people get frightened by his fierce eyes. He was used to people lowering their heads when speaking to him.

“I’m not going to lie, I was always curious of what your face looked like every time you ran after me, only to find out I had already moved on to another place.” Caroline placed her hand on his cheek and added, “you spent two years going after me. Didn’t you ever get tired?”

Liam smirked and responded, “Of course not, princess. I held on to the hope of seeing you again. I wanted to see that beautiful face of yours once again. I wanted to keep you as my plaything once again.”

Caroline slowly moved her hand from his cheeks as he said those words. She was taken aback by the words, but she did not let it show. She needed to seem strong. If she showed the littlest bit of weakness, she would have fallen into another one of his traps.

“I’m guessing you were jumping with happiness when you found out I went to New York. Did all those years looking for me feel rewarding when I fell right into your trap?” Liam said nothing once again. Caroline had to fill the awkward silence with another one of her nasty comments. She walked to the couch and took a seat as she graciously rose her head and looking into his piercing green eyes. She crossed her legs as she wore a smirk on her face.

“Tell me, Liam, how does it feel to pester a woman that doesn’t want you? How does it feel trying to cling to the littlest bit of hope that she will someday say she has fallen in love with you after all your pestering?” Caroline leaned back against the couch and crossed her arms. “You know, hope is a funny thing. Actually, it is a ridiculous thing. It only gives false optimism. I never imagined you to be the type of man that would waste his thoughts on something so useless.”

“You’re wrong, princess. I do not cling to the hope of you running into my arms once again.”

“And why is that?”

“Because I already have you wrapped around my little finger.” Caroline’s expression changed completely. She was truly dumbfounded by his words. Then she laughed and said, “Liam, you are the richest man in the world, if you are so desperate for a woman’s embrace, why don’t you buy one?”

“How much do you want?” Caroline scoffed. “Are you seriously treating me like an object?” Caroline rolled her eyes and added, “well, it wouldn’t be the first time. Though I do find your mere efforts pathetic. I can’t believe you are offering money to me. I don’t need it, nor want it.”

“Why do you insist on defying your feelings? Why do you insist on denying the truth? Caroline, you love me. You can’t live without me. So, why don’t you come back to me?” Caroline laughed. “Is something funny?” Caroline stood up and stepped closer to him. “Yes,” she responded, “your stupidity. I have lived almost my entire life without you, so I don’t know what makes you believe I need you. If anything, it’s you who needs me. And just so you know, I don’t love you.”

“Lie,” she thought to herself. “I would never love you again.” Once again, her mind said, “liar.” Liam raised his eyebrow. “Your lips say one thing, yet your eyes say another thing.”

“You must be seeing things. You should get your eyes checked.”

“You can’t fool me, Caroline. I know you better than anyone.” Liam picked up a strand of her hair and reached it close to his lips. He placed a peck on her hair and added, “I can see how you are aching for me to apologize. I can tell how much you want me to tell you it was all a lie and that I actually love you.” Caroline laughed. “I don’t think you have ever made me laugh this much, Liam. You should consider becoming a comedian.”

After that, Liam said nothing. His hesitation was driving her angry. The only thing she could think of was how much she wanted to go home. Caroline looked into his eyes and waited for him to say something. “Whatever. I’m taking us back to the dock.” Caroline turned around and started walking towards the stairs.

Liam grabbed her wrist. “You cannot escape me.” He pulled her closer and pushed her on the couch. “You will not be going anywhere.” He let go of her wrist and sat on the couch in front of her and they intensely stared at each other.

Neither of them said anything else. Caroline looked to the side to avoid his gaze. She looked at the watch on her wrist and it was already the next day. She knew her family was worried sick about her.

At this point, she aching to go home and see her little angels. She wanted to hug them and never let them go. She truly missed them. She missed them so much, she was not thinking straight. She fabricated another plan to get Liam to take her back to land.

Caroline let out a sigh as she stood up from the couch. “I guess I have no other choice.” She walked closer to Liam and sat on his lap with her thighs on each side, making her white mini skirt ride up, revealing half of her ass. She trailed her hand up Liam’s muscular chest as she guided her lips to his ear. “Tell me, Mr. Sabbatini. What do I have to do in order to go back to land?”

Caroline traced his ear with her warm tongue, waiting for his response. At first, he was confused, but then he knew what she was doing. Of course, he decided to play along. Caroline stared into his green eyes as she brushed her hand on his chest. “If you love me so much, why don’t you take me back to land?”

Liam reached out his hand to the back of her neck. Caroline leaned in and brushed her lips against his before kissing his soft lips. As the kiss heated, Caroline separated from the kiss and looked into his eyes. “So, what do you say, Liam? Will you take me back to land?”

Liam smirked and said nothing. Instead of answering, he pulled her into another passionate kiss. He moved his hand from the back of her neck to her chest. He cupped her breast in his hand and then untoned a couple of buttons of her blouse.

Liam continued the passionate kiss as he stood up from the couch whilst hold Caroline in his arms. He carried her to the master bedroom in the yacht and found it all disorganized from when Caroline was searching for the key.

Liam stepped closer to the bed and laid her on the bed as he got on top of her. He finished unbuttoning her blouse and took it off. He threw her blouse on the floor. He cupped her breasts in his hands. His lips went straight for her neck. As he kissed her neck Caroline began to feel his teeth sink into her skin. Caroline uttered between breaths, “don’t leave any marks, okay?”
