Chapter 60 Men Are Truly Disgusting

The next day, Persephone woke up in Charles’ arms. She slowly opened her eyes. He looked at her as he continued to move his hand up and down on her bare back. “How’d you sleep?” She sat up and hummed as she stretched out her arms. “I don’t think I have ever slept this good.”

“Yeah?” She nodded. He leaned closer and pressed a peck on her lips and commented, “you are so cute, blondie.” She smiled and he smiled back. They looked into their eyes and said nothing else.

Just at that moment, Achilles tried to open the door. They both shifted their gaze towards the door. “It must be Achilles,” Persephone spoke. The toddler nocked on the other side of the door. Persephone let out a sigh. She stood up from the bed and her bare feet touched the cold marble floor. She tippy-toed to the closet as Charles leaned back against the headboard and watched her make her way to her closet.

After getting dressed, Persephone walked into the bedroom, where she found Achilles and Charles playing with Achilles’ toy cars on the bed. As she got dressed, he also got dressed and let the poor little boy into the bedroom.

“What are you two doing?” She asked. “Good morning, mommy!” Persephone walked closer to Achilles with a smile on her face. She leaned down and pressed a peck on his head. “Let’s go have some breakfast.” She picked Achilles up and she looked at Charles. “Let’s go.”

Charles stood up from the bed and walked closer to her. He grabbed Achilles and the toddler instantly went from her arms to his. “I will carry him,” Charles said. They went down to the dining room, where breakfast was already served.

After having breakfast, Charles went back to the mansion. As soon as he opened the door, he found the twins giggling and running from Caroline. He walked further into the house and Caroline ran past him as she continued to run after her children. “Hey,” Caroline spoke. “Hey,” he responded.

Caroline continued running around behind the twins until she caught them. “I caught you!” She exclaimed as both children laughed from Caroline’s tickling. Charles began to walk up the stairs and Elizabeth stopped him. “Hello, Charles.”

“Elizabeth, hey.”

“Where have you been?”

“Work. I had a lot to take care of last night.” Elizabeth nodded. Charles continued going up the stairs and went to his bedroom.

In the living room, Carline sat on the floor with her children. They were playing together as the butler walked inside the living room and handed Caroline her ferret. Caroline watched her children play as she petted the ferret resting on her lap.

Chocolate eventually joined them in the living room and sat down next to Caroline. He laid down and Caroline patted his head. Caroline gently petted both pets until she received a phone call. She stood up from the floor while carrying Brownie in her hand. She grabbed the cellphone resting on the couch and walked out of the living room, leaving all the noise the twins were making.

Caroline walked out of the outdoor lounge and took a seat as she answered the call. “Hey, Care,” spoke the woman over the phone. “Hey, Sephie. What’s up?”

“There is something I have to do tonight. Do you mind if I take Achilles to you?”

“Not at all. I would love to have all the kids with me tonight since I don’t have anything to do.”

“Well, I will see you later. I will leave Achilles with you tonight.”

“What? Where are you going-?” Right at that moment, Persephone hung up the phone. Caroline looked at the cellphone in her hand and let out a sigh. “What am I going to do with her?”

“Going to do with whom?” Charles asked as he stepped closer to Caroline. He sat on the armchair next to her and Caroline responded, “with Persephone. I think she is going out tonight. She just called me to ask me to take care of Achilles.”

“Did she tell you where or with who she was going out?” Caroline shook her head. “Why the sudden interest.”

“Nothing, little cuz. Just curious.” Caroline raised her eyebrow. She stood up from the couch and looked at the man sitting on the armchair dressed in comfortable clothes wet hair from the shower he had just taken. She leaned down and looked at his neck. “Is that a hickey?”

Charles turned to look at her and smirked. “Yes.” Caroline looked at him dead in the eye. She rolled her eyes and commented as she stood up straight, “no wonder you didn’t come home last night.”

Caroline turned around and said, “just make sure you stop playing with women’s feelings and start an actual relationship, Chuck. Because time will pass and then you will be single forever.” Caroline said nothing further and walked back inside the house.

Caroline spent the rest of the day playing with the twins. She about to begin a movie with them when Taekyung walked inside the theater. “Caroline, what are you doing?”

“What?” Caroline uttered while eating popcorn. “We have to go.”

“Go where?” Taekyung let out a sigh. “Edward and Camile’s wedding.”

“We did business with Edward a few months ago. They invited us to their wedding.”

“I make many deals daily. Do you seriously think I remember everyone?”

“I don’t care. Let’s go. We’ll be late.” Caroline grabbed a handful of popcorn and ate it as she looked at Taekyung. “Can’t we just send a letter?”

“No. We have to go. There is going to be free food and free booze.”

“You’re a millionaire,” Caroline countered. “I also have a deal to close with Edward.”

“That makes a lot more sense. But I must refrain from going. I will spend the rest of the night with my little angels.”

“It’s fine. I’ve already talked to Elizabeth; she will take care of them. Now let’s go. I’ve called your stylist.”

“Why can’t you go alone?”

“Because you promised you would go with me.” Caroline looked at the children by her side and said, “I’m sorry, my little angels. We’re going to have to do this again tomorrow. You will have to blame your uncle for this.” Mia looked at Taekyung with her lips pursed and crossed her arms, making him laugh with how cute she looked.

As Caroline made her way to her bedroom, there was a knock on the front door. She stopped in her tracks and walked to the door. She opened the door and found Persephone standing in front of her whilst holding Achilles’ hand.

Achilles let go of Persephone’s hand stepped closer to Caroline. He hugged her thigh and exclaimed, “aunt Caroline!” Caroline smiled. She crouched down and picked him up. She pressed a peck on his cheek and said, “how are you, Achilles?”

“He’s good,” Persephone spoke, “I will leave now. Bye.” Caroline looked at the woman leaving in a hurry-scurry. “We will talk about this later,” she shouted as she watched the woman leave. Caroline closed the front door and looked at the little boy in her arms.

“Ian and Mia are in the playroom. Go.” She let Achilles down and he hurried to the playroom. She chuckled as she watched the little boy leave her sight. She went up the stairs and walked inside her bedroom.

As soon as Caroline went to her bedroom, Charles casually made his way down the foyer. He had already told Elizabeth he was leaving. He opened the door of the mansion and walked out the driveway, where the chauffeur had already parked his black Audi. He walked to his car and got on the driver’s seat.

Charles drove away to a flower shop. He picked up the medium-sized bouquet of roses in the form of a teddy bear. He then got back inside his car and drove to Persephone’s mansion. He got off his car once he pulled up to the driveway. He walked to the front door and rang the doorbell.

After some time of waiting, the door was finally opened by one of the maids. Charles walked inside the mansion and found Persephone walking down the stairs. “Wow,” he uttered, “you look beautiful.”

Persephone smiled as she continued stepping down the stairs. Charles grabbed her hand and made her do a slow spin. He then handed her the roses in the form of a teddy bear. “Thank you.” He smiled and said, “let’s go.”

They walked out of the mansion hand in hand. They stepped closer to the car and Charles opened the door for her. He closed the door once she was inside the car. He walked to the driver’s seat and got in the car.

As Charles drove north, he looked at the woman sitting next to him. “Where are we going?” She asked. “Dinner,” he responded. Persephone looked at the giant green signs portrayed above them. “Where exactly?”

“Paris,” he calmly responded. “What?” She exclaimed. “We’re borrowing Caroline’s jet. I’m kidnapping you for the weekend. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Why didn’t you tell me of this earlier? How could you tell me this now? I don’t have any clothes.” Charles glanced at her with a smirk on his face. “Don’t worry, blondie. You will not need any clothes.”

After getting styled for tonight’s event, Caroline went down the stairs, she found Taekyung waiting for her. “I’m ready,” she said as she went down the stairs. She was dressed in a short lilac one-shoulder satin dress with a long, detachable, lilac tail. The tight and short dress accentuated her perfect hourglass figure. Her hair was styled in a half-bun-half loose style.

Taekyung looked at her and said, “you look beautiful.” Caroline smiled and answered, “thank you. You look dashing in that tux.” He smiled and commented, “I don’t think Camile invited you to steal the spotlight.”

“Well, that’s too bad.” They both chuckled and made their way out of the mansion. On the driveway, was the chauffeur waiting for them. He opened the door of the white Roll Royce and Caroline got in the luxurious car. Taekyung walked to the other side of the car and got in as well.

When they arrived at the venue, they walked past the media reporters, posing in front of the cameras. They made their way inside the venue, where they began saying their hellos to business executives they had met before. Amongst all the women inside the venue, Caroline stood out the most. Men were throwing themselves at the chance of getting to converse with her.

Caroline grasped Taekyung’s arm and tightly squeezed his strong bicep as men continued bombarding her with questions. He saw her uncomfortable expression and decided to walk away from the men throwing themselves at Caroline.

They stood in the middle of a deserted hallway. “Men are truly disgusting,” Caroline sighed. Taekyung chuckled. “Has this never happened to you?” Caroline shook her head. “Usually they are too intimidated to even look at me.”

Then, the doors leading further into the venue opened. The guest started going inside the venue. Caroline watched the guests go inside the venue and without making eye contact with Taekyung, she said, “close that deal and let’s got out of here.” She met eyes with a familiar face and the man she met eyes with, began to walk towards her.

“Caroline King, what a pleasant surprise.” Caroline smiled. “Likewise, Mr. Williams.”

“Please, call me Harry.” Caroline looked at Taekyung and said, “Harry, this is Taekyung. Taekyung, this is my knight in shining armor, Harry. He saved me from working on a project with Liam Sabbatini.” Taekyung extended his hand to shake Harry’s hand. “Pleasure to meet you,” they both said.

“Shall we go inside, then?” Caroline proposed.

The three of them walked inside the venue where all the guests were seated, and the groom was already standing at the altar. They sat on the last row as they waited for the ceremony to start. Caroline was looking around the venue and saw two other rather familiar faces. She sneered at the sight of the woman next to the man her heart pounded desperately for.
