Thirst?

I woke up with a start. There was a heavy feeling over my waist. Maybe I had found a hotel and buried myself in the blankets like I always used to do. Only this pillow had a lot of weight to it. Groaning, I tried pushing whatever was on top of me to the side. When my hands made contact with the object, tingles erupted all over my arm. Focusing my eyes on the figure, I realized it was a man. A very attractive man.

I screamed, “Who the hell are you!”

He groaned in response, this time I didn’t give him time to respond and grabbed the object nearest to me. Which happened to be a lamp. I chucked it off of the side table right onto the strange man’s head. He got out of the bed in inhuman speed and held my wrists above my head.

“Now that isn’t very nice of you. Just because I know you’re freaked out right now, I’ll let that slide just this once. Otherwise, you’ll be bent over my knee and spanked.”

I looked at him as if he had two heads, “Who the fuck do you think you are? You won’t touch me or I will throw something else at you.”

“We’ll see about that.”

He stepped toward me, I took a step back. If I wasn’t so terrified and confused I probably would’ve jumped his bones. He was insanely gorgeous, but even that seemed like an understatement. I still didn’t understand why I was in bed with this man or how I even got here. Every time I tried to think about what happened after the basement I came up with a blank.

“Where are we? Why was I in bed with you? And who the fuck are you in the first place!” I felt my vision start to blur as another flash of anger ran through me.

He tried to step toward me again and brushed his finger tips at the palm of my hand. I practically tore my hand away from his and took two additional steps back. Only to be stopped by something hard behind me. I shifted my head behind me and took a glance. I was met with a wall and nowhere to escape.

By now he shuffled closer to me almost to where the tips of our toes were lightly brushing against each other. “I’m going to need you to calm down my love, and give me a chance to explain myself.”

“Why am I here? I don’t understand anything, I was in the car with these weird guys but I’m pretty sure I fell asleep or something. Next thing you know I’m chained in this dungeon thing and I ripped the chain out of the wall!” I chose to forget the part where I mutilated their bodies.

He put his finger to his lips and shushed me, “Now, now, let me explain all of this but I need you to answer a question for me.”

I nodded for him to proceed, “Do you know what you are?”

“Of course I do, I’m a human! You’re a human! Everyone in this world is a human.”

“Come here,” He ushered me with his finger as he sat on the bed. “You need to promise that you won’t speak unless I tell you to.”

I turned and walked toward the bed, purposely sitting as far away from him as I could. He didn’t seem to like this and reached across the bed and dragged me by my thigh and made me sit right next to him. With everything pressed up to him, my body hummed in an odd way. It felt too good to protest anymore.

“Fiona, I have no other easier way to tell you this so I might as well rip off the band aid as humans might say.” He planted his hand on my thigh and started to rub little circles with his thumb.

“We are creatures of the night, or some prefer the term vampires. We drink blood, we have fangs, and in your case wings. Though that isn’t very common among the majority. Currently, we are in the Castle of Speculo. And my name is Griffin.” Griffin? That name fit surprisingly well for him.

“I-I don’t think you’re right in the head. You see I’m truly sorry for hitting you in the head with the lamp but I have to leave now.” With that I sprinted to the nearest door, but I wasn’t fast enough. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me back into his chest.

“What did I say? You spoke out of turn and now I have to punish you.”

Struggling in his grip he picked me up at my waist and laid my stomach over his knees. I didn’t understand why he did this. Next thing I knew a slap noise was heard, crying out in frustration, I screamed, “Let me go you crazy bastard!”

Slap!

Slap!

“You need to close that pretty little mouth of yours before I give you something to shove in there.” He was satisfied with my silence and continued this humiliating punishment. “Since you don’t listen I’m going to spank you till you accept what you are. Now. What are we?”

“Humans.”

SLAP!

“Again. What are we?” I tried flipping over but he tightened his grip on my thighs and treated me with another hard slap.

“My love, this will stop all together if you just accept what I told you.”

It was impossible, and I wasn’t a vampire. I shivered at the thought. “I’m not a vampire and neither are you.”

Instead of another slap he manhandled me and threw me on the bed. I scooted as far back as I could until my back was met with the headboard. Great. Nowhere to go. But this didn’t stop him, not even a little bit. Snatching my ankle toward him with a tug, I was right back in front of his face. Tears started to aimlessly run down my face. Looking up at him through blurry vision, I mustered all the spit in my mouth and spit right into his face. Oh shit. If he wasn’t mad then, he definitely was now.

Wiping his face as if nothing happened, he looked at me through his long dark lashes. “Now, my love. That wasn’t very nice of you was it?”

I gulped in fear. That’s when I noticed his eyes turned into silvery slits. Barely any pupil was shown and he almost reminded me of a cat. He stalked toward me with a slow and sluggish crawl. I cried harder. I was too young to die!

Jumping off the bed as quickly as I could, I dashed toward the door yet again. He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me back to him. He slithered his hand around my throat and started to squeeze. Not in a necessarily threatening way, but enough for me to know that I was going nowhere.

He moved his mouth near my ear and eerily said, “If you think of running again, I won’t be very nice and forgiving this time.” This time? That was him being nice and forgiving? I was definitely dead now.

I squeezed my eyes shut and tried taking a deep breath, this resulted in him squeezing a little harder. I grasped his hand and tried pulling it off but it was like he was built of steel. Taking tiny little gasps, I wiggled in his grasp. This only caused him to squeeze harder.

“Choose your next words very carefully, or I will punish you in other ways. What. Are. We?”

I could feel myself starting to lose consciousness, black dots clouding my vision. My only way of getting out of this would be to admit the impossible. But to his eyes and the immensely strong grip, it was starting to all make sense. “Vampires. We’re vampires.”

Finally, he released me all together. I gasped for air, I coughed hard. I could already feel myself regaining consciousness again. It was a miracle that he let go. Collapsing onto the floor, I sobbed into my hands. Which were shaking like an alcoholic experiencing withdrawal. I heard his footsteps near me until they were practically right in front of me. I sobbed even harder.

“It doesn’t make sense! H-how are we vampires? I’m a human, my parents were humans! I thought I was going crazy. Why am I like this?” His only response to my questions was him picking me up and walking me over to the wall with the mirror.

“Look,” He said, grabbing my chin.

My eyes. They were gold! Just like when I stared at myself in my room a few nights ago. Everything started to make sense. The extraordinary sight, hearing, and strength. The fangs. I shivered at the thought of them. I thought I was a maniac or something. Maybe I was…

“From what I can gather you’ve changed recently. In a few days your body will complete the transformation completely. Maybe less. You’re extraordinary. No vampire I’ve met has ever changed this quickly, but your body could sense that it needed to transform.”

I turned my head, loosening my chin from his grip. Though the tingles continued to vibrate all over my body. “W-wait. What do you mean complete the change? Am I going to die-?”

“No. You will not be dying at all. Yes, your body will stop producing blood, breathing air, and the rest of your body will shut down. Your vampiric side will come out fully till you can control your thirst.”

All of the blood in my face drained, “Thirst?”
