Canadian Roman Isles

The digger judders across the floor of the uneven grassland where a white and black mansion once sat. It was derelict for many years, forcing the councils hand making them have to knock it down to create space for new homes.

"To your right, to your right, straighten up, forwards. Perfect." One of the builders shouts to his colleague as he moves the digger to the center of the the land ready to lift up the grass so that the foundations can be placed down. The builder holds his hand up telling him to stop the digger from moving.

"What's this?" Picking up the black leather a4 book, he wipes his hand over the top of it dusting the dirt off with his palm.

"Kenzo Robernero." The builder mumbles to himself before pushing the book inside his yellow hi-vis coat. The sun is shining brightly above him, making him boil as he wipes the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand. Using signals, he tells his colleague to carry on as normal.

You may have heard of him, there again you may not have. The man who made Arlington what it is today. The biggest fucking nutjob of them all and it all stems back to his past. What made him turn out the way that he was? Reserved and arrogant, making those around him drop to their knees in his presence? Nobody knows, but we will now. His personal journal has been found by a builder when him and his colleague were digging out the floor of his old plot of land. His home went directly to the council because none of his family had any connection to his personal island in the Canadian Roman Isles, an island that he got when he was just a kid. Nineteen to be exact. So, how is it possible that Kenzo could keep this island away from the rest of his family? Nobody knows.

I'm just a builder who's lived on this island since I was born and I'm working day to day to provide for my family. I never thought that I would find this rare gem. This rare jewel could also get me killed, so it's now time for you to keep my secret.

I've heard of the Roberneros and would never want to cross paths with them. There was a movie made about Kenzo when I was fifteen. I remember sitting there and thinking he's a crazy bastard who doesn't give two fucks about anybody around him. All for one and one for all. I can admit that he's an influencer now with books being printed about him. As I say, he's got a movie based on him and how his life was with his wife Rebecca. He was heavily into the world of sadism, but nobody could figure out why. His mother was barely mentioned and his father Vixen was always playing dirty games until he was killed.

Who is Kenzo Robernero truly?

The builder sits down on his chair in his living room. His family have gone to bed and his house is now silent. Opening the book, he turns the first page to see neat handwriting. Turning the lights down, he relaxes back and starts to read.

HerTears14: They premise may seem cliché at first, but this story makes up for it in its execution. Characters are realistic in their motives, and the main characters have nice chemistry. The world itself is a nice modern re-imagination of “hell”, with odes to its mythological basis. Would recommend reading.
