CHAPTER 25 - FAMILY
Everyone around me had disappeared in a heartbeat throughout the past hour and I wasn’t even sure what I was doing in this elevator. I needed a friend. I needed someone I could trust and she was the only one I could think of. I had called her from the taxi to let her know that I was coming over. She had told me that I could come whenever I wanted so I had decided to seek shelter by her side.
When the elevator door opened and Eliza stood in front of it. I couldn’t help but feel relief. Her calm smile spread a sense of relief inside of me and I walked in to hug her. Her hug was warm and welcoming and I could just stay here and feed on the positive energy she was radiating.
“I am sorry to call you this late,” I said and her arms tightened around me immediately.
“Don’t you even dare to say that again. You are always welcome here,” she said and released me. Her eyes drifted over to the couch where a man was seated and I looked at Eliza a little confused.
“Let me introduce you to Archie,” she said and I couldn’t believe that I was finally going to meet the man in her life. I had heard so much about him that I almost felt like I knew him.
“Honey…” she said and Archie turned his head around immediately with a smile. Standing up from his seat he approached us. He looked like a real Rockstar with his tattoos and I finally understood why Eliza was concerned about his fans. He was a fine piece of man with his handsome face and tall but muscular body.
“This is my friend, Blue,” Eliza said gesturing towards me.
“It is so nice to finally meet you Blue,” Archie said and his deep voice surprised me.
“Nice to meet you too Archie. I have heard so much about you from Eliza,” I said and smiled.
“I hope she have only told you the good stuff,” he said with a wink and I knew exactly why Eliza was worried. Archie was a natural flirt. Shoving him playfully, she smiled while gazing at him with loving eyes. He pulled her into a side hug and placed a kiss on her head. Their love radiated warmth and I couldn’t help but feel jealous. I have had a taste of what love felt like with Liam and I wasn’t sure if we would be able to survive this anymore. It was messed up.
“Would you like some privacy?” Archie asked and I nodded. I wanted to talk with Eliza in private. I wanted her opinion on this whole thing. “Got it!” he said with a smile and placed another kiss on Eliza’s head before he walked towards the hallway where the bedrooms were located. Taking my bag from my hand, Eliza put it next to the couch and gestured me to take a seat.
“You look drained,” she said the moment I sat down and I let out a heavy sigh.
“I feel like I have lived a lifetime during those past three weeks,” I said and looked at her.
“I understand…” she said brushing her hand on my knee lightly.
“Thank you for letting me stay here,” I said and she stared to shake her head.
“I told you not to mention this. You are as close as family to me Blue,” Eliza said with a smile. I nodded feeling grateful. The contrast between Eliza and Lisa was huge. I couldn’t even compare them.
“My mind is a mess. I don’t know what to do anymore,” I said and looked at her hand resting on my knee.
“What’s on your mind?” she asked calmly and I looked up to meet her eyes.
“When Liam confronted Lisa, she told things that made me doubt Liam and his true intentions. She talked about a girl named Amelia that killed herself because of Liam,” I said and Eliza’s eyes widened in shock.
“Are you sure about this?” she asked and I shook my head.
“No but Liam wasn’t denying it either,” I said feeling the tears blur my vision.
“You should ask Liam in private. I am sure he can explain if there is anything you should be concerned about,” Eliza said trying to calm me down.
“I don’t know if I trust him. I want to but I can’t. Thinking about the previous months we had spent together. Liam wasn’t exactly a prince charming. He was devoted to ruin my life and I can’t stop thinking about what Lisa said,” I said and looked away to avoid Eliza’s eyes.
“What did she say?” she asked and I took a deep breath before I started to talk.
“She implied that Liam could have been the one who had leaked the video to hurt me,” I said and met her eyes.
“Why would he do that?” Eliza asked and I shrugged.
“I don’t know. He changed so fast that I have doubts about his feelings towards me. It could all have been a game for Liam. I don’t know what to think,” I said and Eliza sighed.
“Have you tried talking to him?” She asked and I shook my head.
“I asked for a break. We are not together anymore. I need time to think and I can’t do that when Liam is next to me clouding my judgment,” I said and Eliza nodded. “However, I can’t stop the doubt inside of me. How can I expect to be loved by someone? Even my parents gave up on me and left me to myself when I was just a little baby,” I said and avoided Eliza’s eyes.
“Don’t say that Blue maybe they didn’t have a choice,” Eliza said and I looked up to meet her eyes.
“How can you know that?” I asked annoyed. She had told me that she was an orphan like me but why was she so sure about what my parents had felt giving me away.
“I just know…” she said and her voice started shaking.
“How can you know?” I asked persistently. I was annoyed by the way she acted right now. She took a deep breath and looked into my eyes. That was the moment my heart skipped a beat realizing how similar our eyes shapes were. We had the same shade of dark brown wavy hair and something about her felt familiar. She took my hand in hers and smiled.
“I am your sister,” she said and I felt a lump in my throat. Was this even possible and how could she be sure about this? I thought looking at her.
“How?” I asked and her gaze stayed on mine.
“I spent years with a faint memory of you Blue. When my nightmares about that day started hunting me I knew I had to look for you,” she said and I couldn’t believe what she was telling me.
“Don’t joke about something like this,” I said and she shook her head.
“We were both very small when the accident happened. We were on the road when it all happened. Our parents were on the front seats when we had a frontal collision with a truck. It all happened so fast that I couldn’t even register what had happened. When I woke up from the coma in a hospital room, I couldn’t remember anything at all. I was little child and was afraid. I had lost it all in a matter of seconds and I wasn’t even aware of what I had lost,” she said with tears in her eyes.
“I was transported to an orphanage afterwards and went through treatment to regain my lost memories. I started getting these faint flashbacks but I never regained my memories until a recent episode triggered old memories from the accident. I talked with Archie about those memories and my past. He helped me locate you and the rest is history,” she said and I still couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I had a sister? How was this even possible?
“What if I am not the one you are looking for?” I asked and she shook her head.
“When you were admitted to the hospital I told Liam about this. He didn’t believe me at first so we did a DNA-test while you were unconscious,” she said and I was shocked to know that all this had happened while I was fighting for my life.
“How could you even get it done without my consent?” I asked and she smiled at me with a knowing look in her eyes.
“We are both surrounded by men who are capable of moving heaven and earth Blue. Archie and Liam are both the same. Men with power and enough money to make everything possible,” She said and I sighed.
“But I am no longer with Liam,” I said and she smiled.
“But you can’t stop your heart from getting worried about him. You want to know how he is doing and you can’t stop your heart from wanting him,” she said and I nodded. She was right. Despite every doubt I had inside of my mind. My heart was still beating for that blue-eyed monster. Realizing the news, she had just given me I couldn’t hold back anymore. Looking into her eyes I pulled her in for a long hug knowing that I finally had someone I could call family.
“I can’t believe this is real… I can’t believe I have a sister,” I said and tightened my grip around her. I had finally found something to hold on to and I wasn’t going to let go of her.
“It took time to locate you but when I found you, I knew you were the one I was looking for,” she said and her voice was shaking. “I looked at your eyes and remembered them immediately. In all those years we had been apart, I had remembered those blue eyes,” she said and I couldn’t keep the tears inside anymore. Sharing a moment together we poured ourselves into this hug.
“How did you end up in LA?” I asked knowing she had grown up there.
“I was adopted by a couple who were trying to save their marriage with a child. It didn’t work out and I ended up living with my ex-boyfriend for some time,” she said and I realized that there were so much we didn’t know about each other.
“I can’t believe we have grown up not knowing about each other,” I said and she nodded with teary eyes.
“Do you remember our parents?” I asked and she shook her head.
“I only remember their silhouettes faintly. It took me so long to even piece your memory together Blue,” she said and my heart broke for her. We had both suffered in our very own way.
“Now that I know the truth, I understand why you stuck to my side and supported me at the firm. You were the only one who were by my side when people turned their back to me,” I said and she smiled.
“Of course! You are my sister and no matter what have happened to you in the past you will always be my baby sister,” she said and I smiled. I had for the most of my life thought that I had an ordinary life but the past weeks had proved me wrong. I had gone through the worst possible a human being could imagine. I had lost but I had also gained at the same time.
“You will from now on stay with me and we will figure this out together,” Eliza said and I nodded. I had a sister. A fucking badass sister who was ready to move heaven and earth for me and I couldn’t wait to get to know her.
