Willow's Bonds

Chap 1

Using the scythe and her previous tapping of the slayer line, Willow had awakened them all. Every girl, every woman who had the potential was now fully empowered and intricately connected to each other. Willow knew there had to be a balance, there always had to be a balance. She had just tipped the scales in their favor but she couldn't bring herself to worry about that at the moment. Laying on her side, hair white from the shock of magic she'd wielded Willow felt connected, not just to the slayers but to everyone.

This time the pain and torment was forefront and the witch was filled with hope. She found herself giggling even as her heart pumped wildly, it wasn't until an odd burning sensation spread through her that she quieted. Her awareness flared white hot and Willow gasped for breath as the familiar family bond burned within her.

The bond itself was one she had created as a teen when she had resouled Angelus. Although she had used the gypsy curse she had done so with no ill intent and the outcome had been slightly different. The bond had been created in those few moments she had invoked the spell, calling his soul to her. And though it seemed to remain rather dull most of the time Willow had been granted an odd awareness of Angel and his immediate line. An awareness they could feel as well, that was why Spike had always singled her out, why he always found her when he needed help.

Generally the bond was so lax it wasn't easily discerned but now Willow could feel them all. Spike was the brightest, directly beneath her, his excitement and fear mingled with her own. Willow felt the heat begin within, felt the moment when he realized what was happening. She wanted to scream, to beg and cry for him to be spared. Even as a soulless demon Spike had been filled with such humanity that the world would truly be a lesser place without him. But all she could do was steal his pain and pray that his sacrifice, a champion's sacrifice, would somehow save him in the end.

Willow was dimly aware of movement, of hands hoisting her off the floor. She paid no mind to herself as she sank deeper into the family line. He knew she was there then, the demon within him finally realizing the odd connection that drew them together. Willow could feel Spike's emotions in those last moments, so similar to her own thoughts at times, and she prayed reverently that he would find himself somewhere safe, somewhere he wouldn't be alone.

She lost consciousness finally and the next thing Willow knew she was on a school bus, slumped across one of the seats. Faith was there then, helping the witch to stand and Willow stumbled off of the bus in no way prepared for the sight that met her eyes. The hellmouth, her hometown of Sunnydale, was just a cater now, everything she'd known was gone. For a moment Willow swayed on her feet but the bonds, slayer and vampire family both, flared, still strong within her. Willow grasped them tightly, using them to ground herself and she slowly joined her friends.

Staring at the giant hole Willow felt something then, a stirring within her and Spike's presence warmed slightly, like embers in a dying fire. The redhead smiled then, exhausted but satisfied that her prayers had been answered. Her friends- no her family was safe, they had survived.

End.

Please Review. So what do you think? At the moment this is going to be a one shot, but if enough people ask I could probably write a bit more. Though you should know that anymore chapters will have the Angel gang in them. Please let me know if you would like more.

LouiseJ2: I enjoyed the detail you went into with regards to the case. It made the UNSUB appear believable. The crisis in the middle of the story was my favorite part, very dramatic but not over the top. I feel like sometimes pairings can be overdone but I liked that some of the relationships were a little...

chloe: This story is so beautifully written! The characters have gone through so much character development. The plot itself is amazing and it's nearly impossible to not get emotional while reading. It's very realistic and the unique writing style only adds on to the effect of the story altogether!

ianwatson: The comedy is original and genuinely funny, I have laughed out loud many times reading this book. But the story and the plot are also really engaging. The opening two or three chapters seem quite character-dense but they all soon come to life and there is no padding, filling or wasted time readin...

Dina Husseini: It was a great hook. I do not like reading scifi because they end up being like all the rest but this one kept me wanting more.

Dru83: This is probably the fourth time I've read this one. I read this a few times on fictionpress as dru83. This is a wonderful story. It still needs a lot of shining up as there are many instances of punctuation issues, grammar issues, and issues with using the wrong word. But all that still can't ta...

Sandra Estrada: I loved every minute of it and I thank my lucky stars that brought me to the story, it's been a whirlwind of emotions, plot twist after plot twist but I never got tired of them. Abby and Kade's story is a hard one to understand but once you're submerged in their story and love, you can't help but...

marklurch1: What an unexpected pleasure! I usually avoid modern gothic stories as the zombies and demons shown on TV seem so one-dimensional. But the demons in this story were truly menacing as their powers grew and transfigured as the story progressed. But then, great heroes require great villains. There we...

Leah Brown: This was an amazing read! I was hooked from the very first chapter, holding my breadth to see what would happen next. The characters are rich and vibrant, and the world Danielle has created is fascinating. If you love YA, you MUST read this book. Such a smart, brilliant debut novel. I loved it!

ga1984: I really enjoyed it! Characters were deep and plot was pretty complex. A bit on the violent side but it doesnt detract from the story. Very dark but situations make sense. Ends kinda abruptly and later chapters will need some editing work. I'm assuming there's more in the works?

romboili000: As I read this book it made me realize the importance of trusting big God. And believing that you can love even when it feels impossible. This story definitely has made me what to become a better person in Christ and just life. So thank you that's all I have to say because you wrote this story so...
