Jane had slowly become what others would call a professional after SHIELD gave her funding for her research: hair was always in place, her reports were clear and precise and not in cursive. Everyone could read print, she would reply when someone remarked about her lack of a scientist’s scrawl. Even when running around with reports and her mind going a million miles an hour, her footsteps were sure and she never missed a word someone said, be it relevant to something she was working on or not.

Members of the scientific community were starting to take her more seriously, and those she admired most were starting to contact her. She nearly fainted when man in an odd sort of wheelchair called and said he when he tried some time before, he could not get a proper connection due to a destroyed cell tower, or find another way of contacting her when he attempted again shortly before the disaster at Manhattan.

Loki liked her best at home.

There, she would walk barefoot, her jeans rolled up so they didn’t get scuffed on the floor. She would stretch and yawn and let her hair get into her eyes.

She would slouch and slurp her coffee, after adding extra cream and sugar, steal an extra donut to munch on while she read a book or caught up on the most recent events of the scientific community. Sometimes, if work had dragged on late the evening before and she had a day off the next, she would sleep in until noon or so and not let go of him until he agreed to do the same, curled up under their sheets and mismatched blankets.

She did not need to impress any other scientists or prove to SHIELD that she was more than brilliant. At home, she could offer Tony Stark a drink and not need to worry about any glares, save for the ones he and Tony gave to each other from time to time (New York was still a touchy subject, five years after the fact). Thor could drop in and a million alarms would not go off, nor would people point their guns.

Windows would be opened, something might be cooking in the oven, Darcy would dance around with her I-pod and pull others into it, and a multitude of other small details.

At home, she could be herself around him… and so could he.

Sandra Estrada: I loved every minute of it and I thank my lucky stars that brought me to the story, it's been a whirlwind of emotions, plot twist after plot twist but I never got tired of them. SandraHan1: This story is very descriptive, with vivid scenes from the very beginning, which made for a good scene setting. I love the symbolism in names, such as “Naysayers”, “Hadd”, etc . The story itself is revolutionary, intriguing, emotional and exciting. I was very pleased to see that there is a happy ...

Stephen Warner: To start off, I am thoroughly impressed. The writing style is somewhat unique, and the plot seemed to move at a nice and steady pace. However, I was not expecting this to be a vampire book! I am usually not one for novels about vampires, but I was pleasantly surprised! You wrote with such grace a...

annie08c: I really like this story, I can relate to it a lot and with how she feels, the boyfriend and the events that happened but I'm a little bit younger. Samantha Speed: There were several punctuation, grammar, and missing word problems but it did not detract from the story. This story was very well done, enjoyable, and had an interesting enough plot. Shreya Biswas: Finally god...... I was tired of Charissa doubting Frederick's love... yes.. All's well that ends well.... i was getting really downright agitated at the author because the suspense was held really well on how things will work out in the epilogue and i just wanted them to have a happy ending.. An...

Sabrina Ettey: The story plot is great. I loved it. Just the grammar punctuation and writing style was kind of distracting. But with the smooth polishing, it may shine like a pearl. :)

OpheliaJones: This story took a different kind of spin on the "normal girl lives with definitely not normal guy" plot. The plot points of Frey's father, Liam's family, and Frey's view of Liam's world were good to read. She did not fall in love with him in the first couple weeks. Their lives were not smooth in ...

Ruby0h: Overall I thought your story was really good! It drew me in right away and kept me interested as the story progressed. Alani Foreigner: I absolutely loved how you created this story. It isn't like the other cliché stories I've ever read. I had just started reading it yesterday and just had to finish it.
