Edward, Bella, and Renesmee/New Beginnings

By Kayla Axenie

Romance / Action

Chapter 1

Bella sat down content. She couldn't believe how complete her life had become. Not only did she have a wonderful husband, but a beautiful daughter too. It was hard to believe that not only a few months ago she was living a normal life. Well, as normal as it could be with Vampires and Werewolves. She rolled her head to the left to see the people she loves walk through the door. Edward, Renesmee, and Jacob all made their way to the couch where she was sitting.

"Hey Jake. Hows your dad?" Ever since the showdown with the Volturi his dads health hasn't been doing well.

"He's doing better thanks Bells." He smiled and Bella smiled back giving him one of my smiles she reserved only for him. Ever since Jake imprinted on Renesmee things between the Cullens and the Werewolves have become a little less strained. Alice and Jasper decided to go on a vacation and would be back sometime today and Bella was so excited. She missed Alice. She was helping Bella work through her new power, along with Edward since Kate returned home. Finally able to control her shield long enough to let Edward read her thoughts helped them to grow closer. So, working on projecting her thoughts into someone else's mind was the next step, and was slow working. The point was to see if Bellas shield worked both ways, letting thoughts in and out into someone else's. Bella looked down at a tapping on her arm.

"Mom, daddy let me get my own rabbit today!" Renesmee says excitedly bouncing up and down. She smiled. She has been working on him for weeks to let her try it herself once.

'That's wonderful Renesmee! Did you have fun?'

"Oh yea it was great! I can't wait to move onto something bigger." She smiled. She shook her head, she was so much like her in that area. Always trying to rush through things. Edward gasped. She looked up alarmed wondering what was wrong.

"Edward whats wrong?" She stood up moving to his side.

"Do, you realize what you just did?" She looked at him blankly not piecing it together. "You just projected! You just projected to Renesmee!" She shook her head in disbelief.

"No, you must have been distracted, I answered her. Didn't I Renesmee?" She nodded. "See, I told you. Right Jake? You heard me answer. "

"Sorry Bells, I didn't hear anything either." He wore his smug look he liked to wear when she was in denial.

"But I've been trying for so long why would I all of a sudden be able to do it now when I wasn't even trying?" She looked to Edward for some sort of an answer.

He smiled down at me. She loved that smile. She felt some of her worry melt away. "Bella, you were able to do it because you weren't worrying about it or forcing it, and probably because you love Renesmee. Maybe that's the key to accessing it. "

"I love you, and I couldn't project to you." She was overwhelmed that she had actually done it but confused on why she did it without even trying.

"What were you feeling when you were...well, projecting...to Renesmee?" Jacob asked. She turned away from them to look out the window, trying to pinpoint the exact feelings she had been feeling. She took a deep breath, even though she didn't have to breath, and let it out slowly. It was still a human habit she hadn't completely let go of yet.

"I was feeling...content, relaxed...happy. Like everything in that moment was perfect. Three of the people I love most in the world all together. How much Renesmee is like me." She smiled and turned to them with the same feelings she had earlier.

Edward walked over to my side in front of the window. "I love you Bella." My breath caught. No matter how many times he told me that. It would always feel like the first time.

'I love you to Edward. From now until forever. As long as we both shall live.' I remembered the way he looked when I first saw him in the sunlight. How beautiful he was. Then us in the field, laying there talking. Our wedding, how nervous I was then how all my nerves dissappeared after I saw Edward, the mountain top and fighting Victoria, how scared I was but yet safe because I knew Edward would protect me.. Our wedding night. (I blushed and grinned)Then us protecting what was ours against the Volturi. It all flashed by so quickly and with such an intensity it was like I was actually there going through it all again.

Edward stood there staring at me with an odd expression on his face. "Edward whats wrong? Edward?" He finally broke his gaze and looked at Jacob.

"Jacob did you hear or see any of that?" Edward asked in a soft voice. Jake shook his head. "Can you take Renesmee to the kitchen and get her cleaned up? Give us a moment." Jake nodded and took Renesmee to the kitchen to help her clean up from her earlier hunting trip. Bella stood there completely confused, and quickly losing patience.

"Edward, will you please explain to me what is going on? What is with that look on your face? " She asked exasperated.

He looked at me with an amused and amazed look on his face, as if he couldn't decide which one to feel. "You have no idea do you?"

I threw up my hands as if in surrender, and stalked across the living room.  "Apparently not as I keep asking you whats wrong! Which you have yet to tell me by the way."

"Bella... Bella." She slowly turned, when he didn't continue. " You projected again..."his voice grew louder and more excited..."Not only words this time but images. Thoughts...memories..." He shook his head as if in disbelief. Even though she had done it before it still shocked him after not being able to read her thoughts for so long. "Bella I not only saw what you remembered but I felt how you felt when you experienced them." By this time he had made his way across the room and encircled his arms around her waist. "By channeling what you felt with Renesmee you were able to project to me easier."

Bella was shocked, but also thrilled that she was coming into this new gift so easily. Edward leaned down to kiss her tenderly, but as their lips met it quickly became something more. She lifted her hands to wrap around his neck. His arms drew her closer. The kiss deepened and they were lost in the moment. After a minute Edward pulled back enough to rest his forehead on hers. "Sorry. I meant that to be lighter." He quickly kissed her again and chuckled. "Its just that your emotions came across so strongly that I was overwhelmed. I had no idea that you felt like that."

Just then someone burst through the front door. "Bella? Bella?!" The sweet voice rang like a bell. I turned just in time to see Alice come bursting through the doorway into the living room effectively interrupting our private moment.

Ben Gauger: Kudos to Bryan Laesch, author of Remnants of Chaos:Chaotic Omens for his use of the Gothic style of writing and in addition the footnotes and endnotes at the end of each chapter, a welcome accompaniment to be sure, though his use of grammar could use a little improving, but his use of punctuation...

Ro-Ange Olson: Loved it and couldn't put it down. I really hope there is a sequel. Well written and the plot really moves forward.

ga1984: I really enjoyed it! Characters were deep and plot was pretty complex. A bit on the violent side but it doesnt detract from the story. Very dark but situations make sense. Ends kinda abruptly and later chapters will need some editing work. I'm assuming there's more in the works?

taosgw74: If this is the authors first attempt at writing, I'm floored. I was engrossed in the plot from the get go.

Jenn Deering: This is a go-to story for when you're needing a little happiness in your life. It's well-crafted, and characters are true to their show-selves. The pace is right, there are minimal grammatical errors, and the plot is fresh.
