Man's Best Friend | Taekook

☾ 20 ☾

Coming to terms with everything wasn’t easy for Taehyung, being able to adjust to something that you believed was impossible was hardly ever going to be easy. But, with Jungkook by his side, he was able to at least able to stop himself from panicking about everything all the time. With his book writing finally coming to an end he at least had something to occupy him, keeping his mind free of all worries and focusing on actually doing his job.

“I need to see my publisher in a few days, are you sure it’s not obvious that I’m pregnant?” Taehyung asks Jungkook, the same question he’s been asking for three days now.

“Tae, you’re only a month pregnant, you’re barely even looking a little chubby,” Jungkook assures him calmly.

“A little chubby? I look like I’ve been raiding the cookie cupboard every night for a month.”

“That's because you have,” Jungkook teases, gaining himself a smack on the chest.

“It’s not my fault your child constantly makes me want to stuff my face,” Taehyung huffs.

“My child? Pretty sure that baby is both of ours.”

“I’m going to carry on referring to the baby as only yours until they stop making me throw up a hundred times every morning.”

Jungkook laughs at the statement, only holding Taehyung tighter to him and kissing the top of his head without another word. He loved how cosy everything had become ever since the initial shock of the pregnancy wore off, he didn’t think it was possible for him to feel more connected to Taehyung but this whole situation showed him that he was wrong. Sure they were still young and neither of them knew anything about raising a child, but he was more than happy to give it his all as long as he was with Taehyung through everything.

“I can’t wait to finally be done with this book, my brain definitely needs a mental break from being creative.” Taehyung sighs, setting his notepad to the side for the night.

Jungkook hums, he couldn’t agree more. The amount of times he’s had to hold himself back from pushing Taehyung into taking a break is becoming way too much for him to even handle, he doesn’t want to be an overly concerned boyfriend but he can’t help himself from always worrying.

“You should sleep, baby.”

“I can’t sleep, I’m so hungry,” Taehyung groans, rubbing his stomach for added effect. “I would go and make myself food but I have such a bad leg cramp.”

“What do you want to eat?” Jungkook sighs.

Taehyung smiles up at the younger, more than happy he didn’t have to fight to get his way. “Bacon sandwich please my angel.”

“You’re lucky I love you.”

“When you get back can you massage my leg? This cramp really is killing me.”

“Of course, your majesty.” Jungkook sarcastically mumbles as he slips out of the bed, not missing the way Taehyung giggles into the pillow behind him. He really was a whipped man.

Leaving the house to drive to his publisher's office is something Taehyung could’ve more than happily avoided, but knowing this was the very last time he had to do so for a long while was giving his the motivation to not complain. He decided to wear Jungkook’s shirt instead of his own when he got dressed that morning, hoping and praying that the bagginess of the clothing will distract from the fact he was clearly putting on weight in his stomach area. It seemed to work, his publisher not even looking twice at him as she looks over the ending of his second book.

“This is good, Taehyung. I think we’re more than ready to hand it over to the editors.”

Taehyung could not be happier to hear those words, sighing in relief as he slumps back into the comfortable chair he was seated in. “Does that mean I’m all done?”

“For now, yes. I’ll need you back in a couple of weeks to confirm artwork and everything but the writing portion is done.”

“Uh- sure, okay…” Taehyung mumbles, a little uncertain about coming back in a few weeks but he knows he can’t argue, he wants to make sure his book is completely perfect before it’s sent out for sale after all.

He couldn’t be more thankful when his publisher allows him to go, knowing all the writing for over and done with for now. He sighs in relief when he finally gets back into his car, smiling to himself when the sense of achievement fills him. The feeling of finishing a book was something that he loved, the overwhelming excitement he feels was something he used to consider to be the best feeling in the world, but that was before he met Jungkook. His smile only grows wider at the thought of the younger, how amazing and supportive he had been over the past two weeks was truly something he couldn’t thank him enough for.

As he’s thinking about Jungkook an idea pops into his head, something that will show the younger how much he truly appreciates him. He almost squeals in excitement at the thought of how happy the surprise would make him, how happy it would make the both of them. With a warm heart and a big smile, he drives towards town, eager to make everything perfect for the both of them.

“What took you so long? I was worried something bad happened to you!” Jungkook engulfs Taehyung into a tight hug as soon as he walks through the door, breathing out a long grateful breath now that he could finally breathe properly again.

“I’m sorry, I went to town to get something to surprise you…”

“Surprise me? I should be the one surprising you, you’ve finally finished your second book.”

Taehyung hums as he pulls back from the hug, cupping Jungkook’s face in his hands once he’s able to. “I wouldn’t have had the energy to finish it so soon if it wasn’t for you, you deserve a surprise.”

“Ugh, don’t make me blush.” Jungkook groans, attempting to hide his face but with the elder holding onto it so tight it was impossible to get away.

“I’m only being truthful. Shall we go for a walk? I’d rather say what I need to say when we’re in a more romantic place.”

Jungkook nods in agreement, wiggling himself out of Taehyung’s grip to slip some shoes on before they could head out. Walking in the woods in human form was not something he enjoyed doing, but his eagerness to find out what the elder was planning made it hard for him to even care about that small detail.

They walked hand in hand through the tall trees, leaves crunching under their feet filling the silence between them. They didn’t even need to communicate where they were going, both of them knowing there was no place that meant more to them then their special rock in the middle of the woods. It was only fitting that they went there, adding to the happy memories they’ve already made within the area.

Once they get there, Taehyung motions for Jungkook to sit before sitting down beside him, shifting nervously a little. “So, I had this thought. I know the bond between us is amazing and all, but as I spent most of my life as a human I thought it was only fitting that we kind of sealed it in a human way as well as a werewolf way…”

“How do we do that?” Jungkook raises an eyebrow, confused as to what Taehyung was referring to.

“Well, we get married.” Taehyung giggles, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a black box. “I know we can’t get legally married since you were born as a werewolf… but we can pretend, right?”

Jungkook nods in agreement, loving the idea of sharing this moment with Taehyung. “That sounds amazing.”

“It’s not perfect… I know we’re alone so it won’t be the same as an actual wedding, but I got us rings and I thought we could say some vows to each other whilst we give them.”

“It is perfect, Tae.” Jungkook softly takes Taehyung’s hands with a warm smile, urging for him to go on.

“Ok, so, uh- I know I haven’t always been the best person to live with, I work myself too hard and I snap at you when you only try to help me but I honestly couldn’t appreciate you more. You’re so kind and patient with me, you’ve helped me through all of this craziness without even a single complaint. I don’t know what I did to deserve to spend my life with someone as perfect with you, but I thank the universe every single second of my life that I’m able to. People will forever think I’m completely insane for saving an injured wolf and living with him even after he was healed, but I couldn’t even begin to care because all of the amazing things that have happened to me would have never happened if I didn’t. You’re my everything, Jungkook, thank you for being you.” Taehyung smiles as he opens the box and pulls out one of the rings, taking Jungkook’s hand in his own in order to slip it onto his finger.

“I’m going to try and not get all emotional but we both know that I’m going to. I thought I lost everything when I was banished from my pack, it never even crossed my mind that I was gaining everything instead. Finding my mate was something I used to dream about, seeing so many wolves around me who shared the bond with each other only made me want it more. I never even imagined that my mate would be someone as beautiful as you, someone as driven and caring and just all around amazing as you are. You say you haven’t always been the best person to live with but to me, that’s bullshit. Even when you’re yelling at me I still couldn’t be more thankful to be spending every day with you. You and that little pup you’re carrying couldn’t have made me feel more complete, you’ve made my life so full of happiness and love I’m almost convinced I’m still living in one of my fantasies.” Jungkook sniffles as he slides the other ring onto Taehyung’s finger, admiring how perfect it looks for a second before looking into his eyes and bringing him in for a kiss.

“Now you’re mine forever in both the human and the werewolf world.” Taehyung whispers in between kisses.

“As if I wasn’t already.” Jungkook whispers back, more than pleased that Taehyung had decided to do this.

The moment was completely perfect, after all the stress and shock they’ve been through over the past couple of weeks it was definitely something they needed to finally feel as if they were back to normal. Their life together was truly only just beginning, and as they sit together on their rock sharing small loving kisses they couldn’t feel more complete.
