Chapter 1

Seth was trying hard not to fidget at Leah’s side as they waited among the trees for the Volturi to come. His mind was swirling with nervous thoughts and, not for the first time, he was glad that he was no longer a part of Sam’s pack. Seth just knew this whole situation would be ten times worse if he had to listen to the terrified thoughts of the younger wolves - the ones who had never even met a vampire, good or bad.

‘Hell, even I’m scared,’ he thought. ‘And I’ve fought them before.’

‘Stop being such a wuss Seth,’ Leah returned. 'You and our precious leader here wouldn’t let us kill the leeches when we had the chance and now we’re all paying the price. We were too lenient, and now everyone’s going to die, including your precious bloodsuckers.’

Seth whimpered at his sister’s harsh words and Jacob growled from where he was waiting in the clearing with Nessie, ‘Shut up Leah! We all made a choice, and neither Seth nor I regrets it. You are free to leave whenever you want. You know I won’t force you to stay and fight for something you don’t believe in, but you have to stop taking your frustration out on Seth; he’s nervous enough as it is.’

‘Hey!’ whined Seth. ‘I’m not nervous… I’m just a little agitated is all.’

Leah scoffed but dropped the subject and after a few moments Jacob gave a mental head-nod in approval, his thoughts instantly switching back to Nessie.

Before Seth had a chance to begin worrying anew he felt Jacob’s attention being drawn away from his imprint once more, this time towards Edward, who had turned suddenly away from Bella to face the far end of the clearing. His face held a look of deep concentration and everyone fell silent, waiting for him to speak. Finally, after a few short moments that seemed to drag on forever, Edward turned to look back at Bella, uttering the two words that everyone, vampire and wolf alike, had been dreading to hear.

“They’re coming.”

263Adder: Okay so I adore this story. I only knocked one star off plot for historical inaccuracies because I'm a bit of a stickler for that. The ending broke my heart though, considering you already changed history couldn't you (SPOILER) change it a bit more and have them together!!!! I want an alternative...

Alex Rushmer: This was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it a lot Malfoy was always one of the characters that I liked a lot, so I like that a lot of this happens between him and Colette. I read the first couple chapters, and I enjoyed your writing style and am excited to see where you take this story. My com...

Hudson: Your story was fantastic Erin! The Rising Sun was one of the first stories I read on Inkitt, and I have to say I don't regret the three to four days I spent pouring through the story.Probably the biggest strength I see in your writing is your characterisation of Eliana, Oriens, and the rest of th...

romboili000: As I read this book it made me realize the importance of trusting big God. And believing that you can love even when it feels impossible. This story definitely has made me what to become a better person in Christ and just life. So thank you that's all I have to say because you wrote this story so...

ernbelle: When I first started this story I was a little unsettled by all of the information that appears in the prologue, and wasn't sure if I would continue. However, I am very glad I did. The plot was very well thought out and really interesting. There were not any page breaks or markers to acknowledge ...

KC_Ward: Black Mark was one of the most interesting romance novels I have read. I really enjoyed the fact that Mora has such a strong character and held her ground. Each character had a background story that gave clues as to what shaped their personalities. This novel was almost like two books rolled into...

Lizzie Upson: I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved how you took your time to let us get to know the characters and how you showed Matilda slowly falling for Knut. Is there a sequel? I need to find out what happens! Some errors in punctuation and spelling but they would be corrected in editing.

Jean Tryon: As a beta, I found this story outstanding!! Plot, grammar, phraseology, etc Rachel gives us it all. She takes the story into the future from where due South ends. She is an exacting and thoughtful author.

annie08c: I really like this story, I can relate to it a lot and with how she feels, the boyfriend and the events that happened but I'm a little bit younger. It was really good plot, really liked how you stuck to the topic and you had a new title for every chapter making me guess what's going to happen. Ma...

catd69: Karim is a very talented writer. When I started reading his journey it took me into the book and I was in the story till the end. I've never felt this way with any other writers stories. If you want to read a gripping adventure, this will be the one book I would suggest you pick.

LouiseJ2: I enjoyed the detail you went into with regards to the case. It made the UNSUB appear believable. The crisis in the middle of the story was my favorite part, very dramatic but not over the top. I feel like sometimes pairings can be overdone but I liked that some of the relationships were a little...

PaulSenkel: If you like Arthur C. Clarke's Odyssey, especially The Final Odyssey, then you will probably also enjoy this book. I definitely did.It does, however, address a more adolescent public than the above-mentioned book.I enjoyed the story and finished it in a few days. The overall situation on earth an...
