Last Kiss Goodbye

Last Kiss Goodbye

"Amos?" she asks timidly.

"Yes?" he says taking in her emerald green eyes.

"I-er – promised Alice I'd go to the Three Broomsticks with her tonight."

He notices the pause in her sentence and the fact that she can't look him in the eyes. It's been happening a lot lately.

"Is Marlene going?"

"No, she's tutoring first years in Charms."

"Alright, have fun. I'll wait up." He says kissing her, the kiss ending far too soon as she pulls away and waves as she walks out of the Heads common room.

He sighs, looking at the clock on the mantle that reads one thirty in the morning. He told her he'd wait, but he didn't think she'd be so long. He looks around the Heads common room taking in the bits of scrap parchment and quills that are scattered around, no doubt Potter's mess.

Speaking of Potter, shouldn't he have gone by already? After all, this is his common room.

He gets up off the couch and makes his way towards Lily's room. He opens the door and sees that her bed is made and everything is in its place. He looks around at the photographs, some moving and some not. One on her nightstand catches his eye. It looks like it was taken during the summer. His heart clenches painfully as he sees Potter sitting on a muggle swing with Lily sitting on his lap, her fiery red hair curly and her smile infectious as she looks up at Potter and he looks down at her, emerald meeting hazel.

He hears giggles coming from outside the portrait and he goes back to the common room closing her bedroom door behind him. Just as he reaches the armchair by the fire Lily stumbles through the Portrait hole. She pauses when she sees him standing there and her smile fades. Her emerald eyes meet his guiltily and he sighs as he says,

"Come on Lil, let's get you to bed."

As he tucks her in he notices that her lips look bruised, as if she'd been snogged. His eyes go to the picture on her nightstand and she notices and whispers,

"I'm sorry Amos."

He just nods, kisses Lily on the forehead and leaves the room.

As he's walking towards the portrait hole, in comes Potter, his hair more ruffled than usual, his eyes betraying a happiness that states he's done something he shouldn't have and he notices the faint red mark near his collarbone.

"Potter." He nods.

"Diggory." He can smell the Firewhisky on Potter's breath and knows that she wasn't with Alice, or at least not alone with her, and perhaps all these nights were spent with him, over the months. He thinks that he should feel worse, being the one to lose her, but he can't feel animosity for either of them, after all, the whispers around Hogwarts have always included Potter and Evans.

"Take care of her."

"I will."

He nods at Potter once more, exits the portrait hole, and doesn't look back.

Alex Rushmer: Chapter One: Not much is happening in this chapter, but I was absolutely fascinated by the depth of your character development. I love how you just sat there with the reader and explored Eddward. Usually, that sort of thing gets boring very fast, but this was actually really cool! He's so unique ...

Katy Rayne: i really enjoyed this book. i have to say i didn't know what to expect, but with every chapter that came something crucial to keep you reading happened. I was disappointed with the ending if this is for another book i will defiantly carry on reading the next book.

Atractivo Sumit: The story is an amazing blend of what we call natural, plain romance along with subtle emotions and interesting twists. The plot is so beautifully interwoven.

263Adder: Okay so I adore this story. I only knocked one star off plot for historical inaccuracies because I'm a bit of a stickler for that. The ending broke my heart though, considering you already changed history couldn't you (SPOILER) change it a bit more and have them together!!!! I want an alternative...

A.O. Chika: I loved the storyline. The characters, the settings, and the overall plot was great. I love how it started sweet in the beginning and then the angst set in. I did feel like the author writing style could use a bit of change as the book reads more like a YA novel than an Adult novel (I.e grown up ...

sanbyra: This story is very well written and flows beautifully. I became engrossed in the romance element as well as the impending war. The action scenes are also depicted very well. I can't wait to read what happens next!

Alex Rushmer: This was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it a lot Malfoy was always one of the characters that I liked a lot, so I like that a lot of this happens between him and Colette. I read the first couple chapters, and I enjoyed your writing style and am excited to see where you take this story. My com...

Natalie Summers: This book has its twists and turns to keep you invested. I loved the characters and was rooting for them. Their is so much heart in the story that it makes it difficult to put down. I haven't read a lot of books with LGBTQ characters, but I love it when I do. It makes it so much easier for me ...

Ethan Hawke Branom: What a story!!!! From beginning to end you didn't want it to stop. Renee is a feisty woman who will stop at nothing to make things right. It is a story that could actually happen, and makes you stop and think of how the world works and how one persons desire can drive them to get what's theirs. M...

SPepper: I had a hard time putting this book down even to go to sleep. The story is compelling and beautifully character driven. I hope author will make this a series.

bansodeyari: The story is really wonderful. It has details (sometimes which are not needed). The story is plotted well. It's lengthy though, but worth reading. It is based on realty which normal people face. Overall I loved it. Peace✌️.

Hudson: Your story was fantastic Erin! The Rising Sun was one of the first stories I read on Inkitt, and I have to say I don't regret the three to four days I spent pouring through the story.Probably the biggest strength I see in your writing is your characterisation of Eliana, Oriens, and the rest of th...

bhodges11: I like the concept of the story, but there were things that I felt could use more detail. I like the back stories created, but was left wanting more from parts of the story. I like the cadence of the author's writing style - it was a very easy, enjoyable read. I felt like it ended on, not a cliff...

Books17: This is my first book review.I found the story to be very intriguing. The beginning of the story starts and you are immediately thrown into wanting to know what will happen next, The action, or intrigue is established early, so there isn't the feeling of the story dragging on, or thinking about wh...
