Romance

Always

So there's this angel. She came to me one night after I'd been drinking. I think I'd drank too much because she looked worried. The angel had needed to resuscitate me after I'd stopped breathing on the couch.

I'd never seen her before that night, but something just clicked between us, and we soon became good friends. That was until one day when she didn't show. I'd waited all day and all night for her to show, but the house was silent. It wasn't until 4AM the following morning that I found her, unconscious on the floor in the front room, blood pouring from wounds that covered her whole body.

"Y/N!…Y/N!…" I shouted, shaking her gently in an attempt to not disturb the gashes. Hovering a hand over her mouth, I felt the slightest whisp of a breath lightly tickle it. Releasing a breath that I didn't release I'd been holding, I smiled. "You're a tough son of a bitch, you know that."

"Need to be to look after your lame ass…" Came a mumble before Y/N smirked.

I laughed.

Y/N began to cough, raising an arm weakly as she began hacking into the cuff of her shirt.

I quickly got to my feet and grabbed a bottle of water from the desk before returning and holding it to her lips. "Drink slowly." I advised as I gently tipped the bottle, allowing the cool flow to soothe her burning throat.

"Thank you."

"Don't mention it. You saved me a dozen times, I'm just repaying the favour." I paused. "Y/N, what happened to you?"

"My superiors felt that I was getting too close to you. That my feelings for you were clouding my judgements. They believe that I would not make the correct decisions if the circumstances arose." Y/N explained. "They told me that I had to end my relationship ties with you, or I would be relieved of my post as your protector."

"And that what?"

"I told them, as those friends of yours so poetically phrase it, where to shove it." Y/N smirked once again. "They didn't respond to that very well."

"So what happens now?" I asked, worried about what the angels would do to her.

"As per regulation, you will be assigned a new protector. One more capable than me."

"No." I shook my head. "They can't do this."

"They can and they will."

"What about you?"

"What about me?" Y/N furrowed an eyebrow.

"What will they do to you?"

"Nothing."

Now it was my turn to be confused. "I don't understand."

Y/N went to speak but paused for a second briefly. She then began once again. "I'm not an angel anymore."

My eyes widened. "Y/N…what did you do?"

"I fell…" Y/N took a breath. "I don't know much about human emotions, but from what I do know, I think that what I'm feeling right now, in my heart…is love, for you Chuck."

A tear trickled down my cheek as a smile beamed across my face. "I love you too, Y/N, and I always have." Reaching out a hand, I gently placed it on her cheek as I closed the gap between us. Y/N look up at my with her bright Y/E/C eyes, and leaned closer. Our lips touched a few seconds later, and everything felt so right. It was perfect, in every way.

"I love you, Y/N." I smiled, as I pulled away slightly to look at her.

"I love you too, Chuck. And I always will."
