Poem for Cookie Monster
And it was on that day … happiness arrived
In a small bite-sized treat, I don't know how
To explain it, perhaps a gift from God,
It wasn't like anything I've tried or something I've seen,
No it wasn't carrots, not cucumbers, nor peas,
But in that moment I was hooked,
Like a fish caught and gutted,
I could not stray,
Addiction too over me,
No hope of return,
Before I was without a soul
And then it touched me.
I don't know what to say, my mouth
Is full
Of Heaven
My eyes were blind but now they are open wide,
A new world in sight,
Never to leave again,
Tasting
That fire as I took my first bite,
The start of an addiction,
So good
Yet so bad
Of someone who knows nothing,
I suddenly tasted
The cookie
On my tongue,
Cracking, crumbling
With each crunch,
Riddled
With multiple flavours,
Recipes from all over the universe.
And suddenly I am
Drunk off
The sugars of life,
Each bite a
Mystery,
Felt myself a pure part
Of the world,
Now I feel a sense of belonging,
Trying cookies of every sort.
