Don't Let Me Go

Poetry / Drama

Don't Let Me Go

Don't let me go.

You see my wrists you don't know my pain.

You see my heart breaking, you look away.

To obsessed with your own fame.

Friends gone, livin' their own lives

Forgetting about me and my pain.

I have this feeling in my gut now,

Waiting for an answer that I know I'll won't get.

I'm trying to surrender,

But please don't let me go.

I'm trying to surrender,

But please don't let me go.

I turn my back on them and they do the same.

I cry, because there's a feeling I can't tame.

Cut up, I can't feel my hands.

I fall hard on the ground I once stood, I land.

I won't black out.

It's too easy to give up and go out.

I'm trying to surrender

But please don't let me go.

My love was pure,

But you corrupted it.

You took it away, leaving me with a broken heart.

The virus infecting my love,

Killing it like a gun to a dove.

We're now worlds apart, no turning back now.

No Angel to hold me together intact.

I'm trying to surrender,

So I've decided.

So just let me go.

Just let me go.

My blood spilling on the floor, the razor tainted.

I cry happy tears and my decision is made.

Slow and torturous, but ever gratifying.

As I clutch the picture of the one I hope to meet.

I close my eyes.

Darkness surrounding me, blinding.

A white light comes toward me,

And I see the love I lost, my Angel.

She holds out her hand and as I take it,

It slips from me, disappearing like cigarette smoke.

I wake to a new light, sterile and clean,

With her no longer there.

My friends stand above me,

They care, and I see it now in their eyes.

The love was never gone, but it was me.

Sad eyes watched me.

"Collins, why?" they asked.

I have this feeling in my gut now.

Getting the answer I've been waiting to hear,

But not the one I wanted to hear.

"It's not your time. Another time, Another place.

Don't throw away your life,

It'll be yours you'll miss."

She whispered into my ear.

I look and she's not there.

I heard her, my guardian Angel.

Another time, another place she said.

Well I guess we'll meet again.

I was trying to surrender,

But she didn't let me go.

I had to let her go.

I was trying to surrender,

But she didn't let me go.

I let her go, let go trying to be with her.

Another time, another place,

Taking her words to heart.

I'll see her again, positive as the AIDS running through my veins,

But just not now.

I tried to surrender,

But they [friends] didn't let me.

I tried to surrender,

But she didn't let me.

So I cry happy tears because my decision is made,

I won't surrender.

I'll fight, so help me.

I won't surrender again.

I'll fight, so help me through it.

I won't surrender.

So help me, don't let me go.

Don't Let Me Go.

Tanya Daigle Rusheon: This book is a long and twisty tale full of sweet romance, adorable fluff, anxiousness, trust issues, mind games, things that don't make sense until suddenly they do, heartache and reconciliation just when you need it the most. If that all sounds a bit vague, it's because I really don't want to s...

ernbelle: When I first started this story I was a little unsettled by all of the information that appears in the prologue, and wasn't sure if I would continue. However, I am very glad I did. Ben Gauger: Kudos go to Liz Aguilar, author of To Have And to Hold a fast-paced, gripping, adrenaline rush from start to finish, one of perhaps the finest pieces of writing I've ever read, in particular because of its' telenovela-like feel, May she continually find success as an author. Bravo my dear, bravo!

Alex Rushmer: I like the intrigue that you introduce from the very beginning of the story. The idea of the girl waking up in the alley with no memory of how she got there and with injuries is very interesting. It was very well done. There were a lot of grammatical errors that need to be fixed though. I think t...
