Red Rose Thorn

Notes And The Prima Donna Is Back

3rd POV

Erik was sitting in front of his organ as he was trying to write more music for his opera Don Juan. However, no music or lyrics were in his head right now. All he could think about was his angel Brie. He was furious that she ripped his mask off his face. How dare she do that to him! Nevertheless, what shocked him the most was that she apologized for what she did to him. He even remembered what she said to him.

Brie was looking right into his eyes as she said, "I shouldn't have taken the mask from you. I was so stupid and I wasn't thinking straight. You were so kind to me and I really messed up. I hope you can forgive me?"

Never in his life had anyone apologized to him. Why should she apologize to him? Perhaps she was scared he might do something drastic to her, so she thought if she apologized to him he wouldn't hurt her. He remembered the horror and sadness in her eyes. Erik sighed as he placed his head into his hands. How can he make things right again and not have his angel scared of him? He was getting more frustrated every second thinking about Brie and how he scared his angel. His temper got the best of him as he slammed a candle stand down. Papers scattered and flew everywhere. Erik took a deep breath to calm himself down and think. He looked to his right to see the model of the next production called "Il Muto." He smirked as a brilliant idea came to him. He knew exactly how to launch Brieanna's career even more.

Brie's POV

It felt like hours since Erik brought me back to the Prima Donna room. Currently I was sitting on the very pink prima donna bed drowning in my thoughts. I kept remembering what happened down in the lair and I felt like I made it worse. I mean, think about it! I took Christine's place; Erik is interested in me and not her. There is no love triangle and I am ruining the story plot! Plus I keep remembering my family and friends from my world. I really miss my mom, dad, and Amber. Half of me wants to stay here in the phantom's world and half of me wants to go home. What am I going to do?

All my thoughts were interrupted when there was a knock at the door. I jumped up from the bed startled.

"Who is it," I asked meekly.

"Brieanna, are you in there," I heard Christine call out.

I immediately ran to the door and opened it. Standing behind the door was Christine, Meg, and Madame Giry. I noticed that Christine and Meg were relieved to see me, but Madame Giry had a look like she knew what had happened. I remembered she saw Erik lock the Prima Donna room in the movie, so she most definitely knew what had happened.

To my surprise, a body slammed into me and two arms warped around me. Christine was hugging me like she thought I was gone forever.

"Thank goodness you are ok. I was so worried about you," said Christine as she kept squeezing the life out of me.

"I'm sorry I scared you, but Christine… I… can't… breathe," I barely said.

Christine immediately let me go and apologized as she lowered her head in shame.

Meg gave me a quick hug and said, "You've been missing all night and most of the morning. Christine and I have been worried about you."

I looked up to see Madame Giry walk up to me. She looked right into my eyes to see if something had happened to me.

"Are you alright my dear," she asked.

I gave her a smile and said, "Yeah, I'm fine."

Giry raised her eyebrows and stared at me hard to see if I was lying. I couldn't tell what she was thinking. She nodded her head and turned to her daughter.

"Come Meg, we will leave Christine with Brieanna for a moment."

Meg nodded her head as she understood. She gave me another quick hug before leaving the room with her mother. When my "sister" and I were alone, Christine took my hands, lead me to the bed, and we both sat down on it.

Christine stared right into my eyes and asked me worriedly, "What happened to you last night? I thought you were supposed to join Raoul and I for dinner, but you never showed up. And when I got back, I couldn't find you anywhere."

I sighed before I looked back at her. "I'm so sorry to worry you. I just had a… let's say an interesting night last night."

"You have to tell me what happened," Christine pleaded as she squeezed my hands.

I gulped and started to panic inside. What should I say to her; that the phantom of the opera took me down to his liar or lie to her? I didn't know what to say to her. I took a deep breath and said the first thing that came to my head.

"I wanted you and Raoul to have some time alone at dinner and I left to go to the roof for a while. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, I was back here in bed."

Christine's eyes widen as she suddenly placed her hand on my forehead.

"Um Christine, what are you doing," I asked.

"You were up on the roof and you fell asleep! You might be catching a cold. I'll go to the cook and get you some water and some nice hot soup," she said.

Before I could say anything, she stood up and walked out of the room. I smiled to myself as I thought, it's so cool that she cares so much for me and is such an awesome sister. After sitting on the bed for a while, my eyes widen when I remembered the songs "Notes" and "Prima Donna" are next. I placed my slippers on my feet, grabbed my robe, and ran out of the prima donna room. After searching for a while, I found the entrance to the opera house. I heard two male voices singing and talking to each other. I looked up to see Firmin and Andre on the second floor. I didn't want to be seen, so I hide behind a pillar. I knew they were already singing the song "Notes". My ears heard the verse they were at in the song.

Firmin looked at Andre as he sang, "These are both signed 'O.G.'"

"Who the hell is he," asked Andre.

Realization hit them both as they turned to each other and exclaimed, "Opera ghost!"

Firmin was furious as he sang, "It's nothing short of shocking."

"He is mocking our position," Andre agreed.

"In addition he wants money."

"What a funny apparition."

They continued to sing, "To expect a large retainer! He is clearly quite insane!"

I nearly jumped when I heard a new voice. I took a peak from my hiding place to see a very angry Raoul marching into the opera house.

"Where is she," he asked in frustration.

Firmin looked at him all confused as he asked, "You mean Carlotta?"

Raoul nearly glared at Firmin as he answered back, "I mean Miss Brieanna Daae - where is she?"

Whoa wait a minute, me? Raoul is looking for me? Well this is a new thing.

"Well, how should we know," asked Firmin.

"I want an answer - I take it that you sent me this note," he said as he showed the managers the note in his hand.

Firmin and Andre looked at each before Firmin answered Raoul, "What's all this nonsense?"

"Of course not!"

Firmin shook his head as he said, "Don't look at us!"

Raoul looked confused and shocked to hear what the managers had said.

"She's not with you, then," he asked.

Firmin shook his head as he said, "Of course not!"

"We're in the dark..."

Raoul stopped Andre from speaking as he replied while holding up Erik's note, "Monsieur, don't argue - Isn't this the letter you wrote?"

Firmin rolled his eyes and looked completely exhausted. "And what is it that we're meant to have wrote?" He stopped himself as he realized what he had just said and corrected himself. "Written!"

Raoul handed Andre the note and Andre started to read the note out loud. "'Do not fear for Miss Brieanna Daae. The Angel of Music has her under his wing. Make no attempt to see her again.'"

After Andre finished reading the note, Raoul still looked confused and concerned as he asked, "If you didn't write it, who did?"

Then the next sound I heard was one person I didn't want to see or hear from again.

"Where is he?"

I rolled my eyes and silently groaned in frustration. And here comes more drama! Great, Carlotta is back. Oh man, why did she have to come back?

Andre eyes lit up when he saw Carlotta and said with what it looked like a force grin, "Ah, welcome back!"

She ignore the "happy welcome" as she marched right up and asked, "Your precious patron - where is he?"

Raoul sighed as he walked down the stairs and asked, "What is it now?"

"I have your letter - a letter which I rather resent!"

Firmin looked at Raoul and asked, "Did you send it?"

Raoul looked at Firmin with annoyance and answered, "Of course not!"

"As if he would!"

Carlotta looked at Raoul in shock and asked, "You didn't send it?"

"Of course not!"

Firmin looked even more confused now. "What's going on...?"

Carlotta held up her note and sang, "You dare to tell me, that this is not the letter you sent?!"

"And what is it that I'm meant to have sent?" Raoul takes the note and reads it out loud. "'Your days at the Opera Populaire are numbered. Brieanna Daae-"

Carlotta glared at the managers as she spat out, "Brieanna Daae!"

Raoul continued to read the note out loud. "Will be singing on your behalf tonight. Be prepared for a great misfortune, should you attempt to take her place.'"

Everyone was so quiet; you could have heard a pin drop. Carlotta looked like she was going to lose it, so Andre and Firmin decided to try to get her mind off of it. They both grabbed Carlotta's arms and lead her up the stairs.

"Far too many notes for my taste - and most of them about Brie! All we've heard since we came is Miss Daae's name..." sang Andre and Firmin.

I looked to my left to see Madame Giry and Meg walking into the entrance. I was happy they didn't see me.

"Miss Brieanna Daae has returned," announced Madame Giry.

Everyone turned to look at Madame Giry and Meg when they heard the news that I was back. Some look relieved, some looked concerned, while others looked like they wanted to kill me.

Firmin sang, "I hope now worse for the wear as far as we're concerned."

Andre walked down the stairs a little bit and asked, "Where precisely is she now?"

"I thought it best she was alone with Christine..." sang Madame Giry.

"She needed rest," said Meg before she bowed her head from being embarrassed, I guess.

Raoul walked down the stairs to Madame Giry and asked, "May I see Brieanna?"

Madame Giry raised her hand and said, "No, monsieur, she will see no-one except Christine."

Carlotta nudged Piangi before they both sang, "Will she sing? Will she sing?"

"Here, I have a note," Madame Giry sang as she held out her note.

"Let me see it," everyone demanded, however Firmin was there first.

"Please!" Madame Giry handed Firmin the note that she had received. He unfolded the note and began to read it out loud. "'Gentlemen, I have now sent you several notes of the most amiable nature, detailing how my theatre is to be run. You have not followed my instructions. I shall give you one… last… chance…'"

All of the sudden, I don't know if it was just me, but the voice of Erik, aka the phantom, was heard.

"Brieanna Daae has returned to you, and I am anxious her career should progress. In the new production of "Il Muto", you will therefore cast Carlotta as the Pageboy, and put Miss Brieanna Daae in the role of Countess. The role which Miss Daae plays calls for charm and appeal. The role of the Pageboy is silent - which makes my casting, in a word, ideal."

HE WANTS ME TO PLAY THE PART OF THE COUNTESS!? He was supposed to say Christine, not me! Now I really feel like I am ruining the story of the phantom of the opera. My thoughts were interrupted when Erik's voice was back.

"I shall watch the performance from my normal seat in Box Five, which will be kept empty for me. Should these commands be ignored, a disaster beyond your imagination will occur. I remain, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, O.G."

I nearly jumped up in fright because of Carlotta's outburst, and boy was she pissed.

"Brieanna," she screamed.

Andre shook his head in dismay. "Whatever next...?"

"It's all a ploy to help Brieanna," snarled Carlotta.

"This is insane," said Firmin.

Carlotta marched down the stairs and spat at Raoul saying, "I know who sent this: The Vicomte – Christine's lover and Brieanna's brother!"

"Indeed? Can you believe this," said Raoul sarcastically.

Carlotta growled at him before she marched away. Everyone, especially the managers, were chasing after her and trying to calm her down.

"Signora," I heard Firmin plead.

When I saw everyone was gone, and I knew they were going to the prima donna room because Carlotta was packing up, I ran out from my hiding place to find Christine. I walked into the kitchen, surprised to see she was still there ready to retrieve my soup and water. Maybe it took a while to cook the soup. Christine was surprised to see me.

"Brie, what are you doing here? You should be resting right now," she said.

I gave her a weak smile before replying, "I was going to, but I heard something."

Christine looked curious as she walked up to me and asked, "What, what did you hear?"

"Carlotta is back."

Everyone in the kitchen stopped what they were doing and gasped. Even one of the cooks accidently dropped her pot.

"No, please tell me you are jesting Miss Daae," pleaded one of the cooks.

I sadly looked at her and said, "It's true, the wicked witch is back."

Christine eyes widened and shushed me. "Brieanna, you can't say that."

"Why not, she is a witch and everyone knows it," I insisted.

"But I don't want you to get into trouble. You have to promise me not to cause trouble or try to make Carlotta angry."

"But I-"

"Promise me."

I sighed and promised her, even though I had my fingers crossed. After I finished eating my soup, Madame Giry and Meg found Christine and I. Madame Giry sadly told us that since Carlotta was back, she would be playing the Countess, Christine was a maid like Meg, and I would be playing the Pageboy. I could tell Madame Giry was upset that the managers did not listen to Erik's instructions and feared something bad would happen. Of course, I knew that because it was supposed to happen in the play and movie. At least one thing stayed the same. On the bright side, I got to wear pants instead of a dress in the performance. Now if only I could get rid of that stupid corset. Those things are killers.

After Christine, Meg, and I got dressed in out costumes, we followed Madame Giry down a hallway. Christine placed her arm around my shoulder as to somehow comfort me. I think she thought I was upset that I had a silent role. I really didn't care; I was used to it back at home and I can definitely see Megan as Carlotta now.

I knew they were already singing the song Prima Donna because the next thing Madame Giry and Meg sang was, "For if his curse is on the opera."

We finally reached the stage to see the cast in their costumes, the crew getting ready for setting up the show, and the musicians setting up their instruments. I looked to the center to see someone wearing a bright pink dress, a tall massive white wig on her head, and a powdered white face, neck, and upper chest just above her breast. I rolled my eyes when I realized it was Carlotta. I kept thinking in my head two things; one, I promised Christine I'd behave (even though I wanted to scream at Carlotta) and two, Carlotta would get what she deserved thanks to Erik. All of a sudden, everyone including me sang the last verse of the Prima Donna Song

"Prima Donna the world is at your feet. A nation waits and how it hates to be cheated. Light of the stage with that age old rapport. Sing Prima Donna…" We all took a deep breathe. "Once More!"

Now let the show and fun begin… or a big mistake and nightmare begin!
