A Fresh Start (Damon, OC, Klaus FanFic)

Chapter 22

I pulled the door open smiling at the person standing there. "Hi, you must be Joseph, come on in." I greeted him warmly. He looked confused as he entered the house, I quickly shut the door behind him as he began to speak.

"Hi, yeah I'm Joseph. I got a text message from Caroline... Caroline Forbes. She asked me to come over, said she needed my help with something."

I looked him up and down appreciatively. Joseph was on the school football team with Matt and Tyler and I had to admit he was very hot. Joseph cleared his throat when I didn't say anything.

"Well Joseph," I said stepping closer to him, "I'm afraid I have a little confession to make. See Caroline didn't send you that message I did."

He looked ever more confused and opened his mouth to say something but I grabbed his shoulders and forced him to make eye contact as I compelled him.

"You will not try and run. You will stay here and not be scared. Do you understand?" It took him a second to nod his head. "Good," I continued, "Because I'm starving."

I quickly pulled his head to the side and sunk my teeth into his neck. The warm blood poured down my throat and I could feel the strength returning to my weak body. I could feel the remaining few blisters on my arms healing as well. I stopped drinking and stepped back. Joseph put his hand to the wound.

"Ok, you just did... whatever... to me and I'm not running away. How the hell did you do that?" he asked, no fear in his voice. God I loved compulsion.

I walked past him into the library knowing he would follow. I also realised that for such a big house, we always seemed to only really use this room. shrugging I put that out of my mind for now and poured out two drinks. I held one out to Joseph but he still stood at the doorway holding his neck. I shook the glass at him and he walked over slowly and took it out of my hand, still watching me.

Ok, I may have been a bit savage when I bit him I realised as the blood was still pouring down his neck. Sighing I bit my own wrist and pushed it against his mouth, forcing him to swallow some. He gagged at first, but surprise covered him as he moved the hand from his neck, the mark gone.

"Oh don't look at me like that. If I kill you now what am I going to do for the rest of the day. Now to answer your question, I compelled you. It's a neat little trick that vampires like me have over humans." He opened his mouth but I cut him off, "Yes vampires are real and a lot of them live in Mystic Falls but don't tell anyone."

I laughed then, "Well that won't be a problem, as you won't be leaving this house alive. So what do you think of that?"

He lowered his drink before answering me, "Well it's got to be the craziest thing I've ever heard and yet weirdly it would explain all the animal attacks over the years."

I was surprised at his answer. I mean, I know I compelled him to not be scared but still, I was slightly impressed that he made the animal connection so quickly. He held out the empty glass to me and I quickly refilled it.

"What else can you do?" he inquired, this time just sipping his drink.

"Well, to be honest with you we have unbelievable hearing, we heal very fast and of course there's the speed." When I finished the sentence I ran to the other side of the room, Joseph spun trying to find me and when he saw where I was he laughed. He actually laughed. "That's kinda awesome." He said, still smiling.

What the hell was wrong with him? There's a difference between not being scared and being stupid. He knows I plan to kill him and he thinks this is awesome. Ah well, this should make for an interesting day. I smile back at him, "We need music."

Third POV

Damon had just dropped Elena and Stefan of at her house. Stefan was going to stay with her for the night. They hadn't thought it would take so long to get her back and it was already nearly seven o clock in the evening. He headed back to the boarding house himself, even if she hated him at the moment he needed to see Jessica. Killing that vampire today hadn't exactly been easy but at least they got it done.

Elena told them what Rose, the vampire who kidnapped her, had told her. His name was Elijah and he worked for Klaus and now they didn't have to worry about Elijah telling anyone where the doppelganger is.

He finally pulled into his own driveway and shut off the engine with a frown. Loud music was coming from the house. With the lack of blood and what they did to her this morning with the sun Damon was sure that Jessica would have just slept all day. He quickly made his way into the house, he was about to shout for her when he first heard the noises. Someone was moaning. He ran to the library and froze at the door.

Jessica was sitting on top of some guy and they were both topless. They didn't even realise that Damon was stood there watching as Jessica fed from this guys neck and then reached up and started kissing him.

******************************

Joseph ran his hands over my back as I fed from him, I could hear his moans. I lifted my head and started kissing him aware that his blood was still on my lips which pulled a moan from me as well. But before it could go any further I was thrown across the room.

I was on my feet in an instant and ready to attack whoever it was but then relaxed my stance and crossed my arms across my chest as Damon pulled Joseph to his feet by the arm.

"What the hell is going on here?" Damon roared at me still holding Josephs arm.

"What? I was just having some fun. After all, it was you that taught me how much fun feeding and sex is combined." I threw back at him.

"So you think it's ok to just feed from some guy... that's not you Jessica." Damon's voice was soft this time.

"Yeah well," I smirked, "maybe you don't know me as well as you think. Besides, I don't think Joseph minds. Do you Joseph?"

Joseph tried to pull out of Damon's grasp, but to no avail. I could see the anger building in Damon and tried to push it further.

"Besides, the things Joseph can do with his hands... oh my god... how could I refuse?" I purred. Damon looked like he could kill Joseph, and I think he may have but my voice stopped him.

"Of course I had intended on killing him today, but I may have given him some of my blood before I remembered that if he died with it in his system he would turn.

Damon pulled Joseph until he was facing him, "You are going to leave now. You were not here today. Now get out of my house before I ignore my better judgement and just kill you myself."

Joseph blinked rapidly then ran from the house. Damon looked over at me and I pouted. Did he have to ruin my fun? He watched me as I walked past him and picked up my top. Once I was fully dressed I sat down and crossed my legs.

"So how's Elena? Or is she dead?" I asked sweetly. Damon poured himself out a drink and sat across from me.

"She's fine. She's at home with Stefan." He explained. "Now, are you going to tell me who the hell that guy was?"

I shrugged my shoulders at him, "Well you starved me and left me here. So I called Joseph, he goes to school with us. And he was more than willing to help me." I paused before continuing, "So, what's the deal with the... moonstone, is it?"

I saw his eyebrows raise in surprise. "Who told you about that?"

Before I had a chance to answer there was a large crash as the front door was broken open. Damon was on his feet instantly but I remained seated as a very angry looking vampire entered the room. His eyes narrowed when he saw Damon and I saw the look of shock on Damon's face. Well this would be interesting.

"You should be dead..." Damon was sputtering. The vampire ignored Damon and looked over at me, I gave him a big smile and a thumbs up.

He then turned his attention to Damon, "Do you have any idea who I am? You think a stake can kill me?"

Ok that got my attention, Damon had staked this guy and yet he looked fine. Before I had a chance to process the information fully however the vampire lunged at Damon. The fight was short, although Damon gave everything he had this guy was just clearly so much stronger. The fight ended when the new guy threw Damon across the room into a bookshelf. I was in the middle of laughing when everything changed.

The next few moments seemed to happen in slow motion. Damon was slightly dazed from the attack and was struggling to stand up, I saw the other vampire pick up a piece of wood from the fireplace and snap it in half. In the next second he was across the room with the stake raised and quickly plunged it down.

I looked down at the piece of wood protruding from me then up into the eyes of the new vampire. His eyes filled with shock.

I hadn't even realised I had moved from the couch where I had been sitting. But when I saw the stake in the vampires hand going towards Damon something in me snapped and I reacted. I could hear Damon shouting my name behind me but I couldn't tear my eyes from this vampires gaze. His hand was still on the end of the stake, and every breath I took I could feel the wood scrape against the side of my heart. I was convinced I was about to die and yet I was calm. The important thing was Damon was ok.

The vampire pulled the stake out, and this time I screamed and started to collapse to the ground but arms went round me catching me. I looked up into Damon's tear filled eyes. What was he so worried about, now that the stake was out of me I could feel the wound starting to heal. I would be fine, but still he had tears.

I turned my head and noticed that we were alone again, the other vampire had left. Damon lifted me up and carried me to the couch. When we were both sitting he checked my wound, but it had already closed up.

"You saved me?" Damon's voice was low as he spoke, and made it a question instead of a statement. I reached up and cupped his cheek.

"I don't know what happened. I saw what he was going to do and something in me flipped. I couldn't let him kill you... I love you." I said softly.

The words were only out of my mouth and Damon's lips were on mine. It was such a deep kiss, as if he were trying to make up for missed time, shutting out the rest of the world. When we pulled apart he smiled down at me. Returning the smile I realised that I had to make up for anything I had said and done, but I knew with Damon by my side that everything would be ok. We would be fine.

How naive could I be.
