Summer Loving

“Why are you smiling like a maniac today? Are your phobia killing sessions really going that good?” Jin asks his little brother, they had all decided to relax on the beach for the day which has given Taehyung the perfect opportunity to watch Jungkook surf.

“Hmm? What?” Taehyung tears his eyes away from the red-haired boy for two seconds to pay attention to what his brother was saying.

“Maybe if you weren’t staring at Jungkook then you would’ve heard him.” Jimin teases from Taehyung’s other side. The younger picks up some sand and drops it into his lap in retaliation causing Jimin to whine loudly. “Why would you do that?! Now there’s sand all over my shorts and my towel.”

“Brush it off and stop being a dick.”

“I think there’s sand actually on my dick!”

Namjoon sighs at the interaction between the two youngest’s, “Moving back to the earlier conversation, how are things with you and cherry head? Are you getting anywhere with him?”

“I told you to quit calling him ‘cherry head’.” Taehyung rolls his eyes.

“Fine. How are things with you and Jungkook then?”

“Uh- well, good, really good actually... last night we kissed...” Taehyung mumbles the last part, a little embarrassed. The rest of the group freeze before they start clapping and cheering, Hoseok even going as far as to pat Taehyung on the back. Their parents glare at them from the sun loungers to get them to be quiet which they do after a few more claps and embarrassment from Taehyung.

“What are we all cheering about?” Yoongi suddenly appears which pulls a massive grin out of Jimin who moves so he could sit on his towel with him.

“Why do you always show up when we’re talking? Are you stalking us?” Jin raises an eyebrow as he leans back into Hoseok.

Yoongi laughs loudly as he sits, clearly amused by the allegation. “I’m not stalking you, I don’t have the energy for that. I came to see my best friend as I do every day, it just happened that you were here today.”

Jin hums, obviously still cautious about the boy but drops the topic when he sees how happy Jimin was. “We were cheering because Tae and Jungkook kissed last night,” Jimin explains.

“Oh, that’s why he was smiling like an idiot when I came home.”

“He was still smiling when you got home?” Taehyung asks, complete wonder and happiness filling his chest from the admission.

“Yeah, was kinda creepy actually but I was too tired to ask him why he was smiling so much. He was staring at the plant in our cabin that he always waters, I thought he was just happy that it was finally looking more alive.” Yoongi shrugs.

Taehyung felt like he was about to burst from happiness, he was a little nervous about whether Jungkook regretted the kiss or not so hearing how happy he was when he got home was definitely calming those nerves. “Do you think I should ask him out on a proper date?”

“Definitely! I think he’s taking his break, go ask him now.” Jimin orders, knowing that Taehyung needed a harsh push in the right direction if he was ever going to do anything. Taehyung glances at the rest of the group who were all motioning for him to go, so he takes a deep breath and stands.

He brushes his clothes quickly before making his way down the beach and towards Jungkook, the younger instantly smiling when he notices him. “Tae, hi!”

“Hey, are you free to talk? I don’t need long, I just wanted to ask you something...”

“Sure, I have a ten-minute break so I’m all yours.” Jungkook smiles.

Taehyung blushes from the words. The implication of Jungkook being all his, even though he didn’t really mean it in the way he wanted him to, it was still enough to make his heart swell in his chest. “I was thinking instead of meeting tonight as we always do, we could meet a little earlier? And maybe we could go for a date? Only if you want to though, don’t feel pressured to say yes.”

“I’d love to.” Jungkook excitedly says. “Where do you wanna go?”

“Well, there’s this great Italian place in the town.”

“You mean the super expensive one?”

“Yeah. I’ll pay for you though so don’t worry about money, not that I’m looking to become your sugar daddy or anything! I just want to treat you, money’s not really an issue for me so...” Taehyung begins to get more flustered as the minutes passed, maybe he should’ve just suggested a quiet drink in the bar Yoongi works in.

“I’ll say yes this time, but don’t think that I’m gonna make a habit of letting you pay for me.” Jungkook agrees with a toothy smile, one that made Taehyung just want to smoosh his cheeks.

“I wouldn’t mind if you did.” Taehyung says under his breath.

“What?”

“I said I can’t wait for tonight! I’ll see you on the beach at six?” Taehyung quickly covers up what he said which Jungkook seems to buy.

“Sounds good, I’ll see you then.” Jungkook quickly places a kiss on the elder’s cheek before telling him he had to get back to work, leaving a flustered Taehyung to walk back to his grinning family and friends who watched the entire thing.

Jungkook laughs as he hears the cheering in the distance, he can only imagine how red Taehyung’s cheeks were at this exact moment. He walks back to Mingyu who was setting everything up for the next lesson and begins to help him out.

“So... got yourself a date with the pretty rich boy?” Mingyu asks.

Jungkook stills. Of course, Mingyu would’ve seen and heard the entire thing. “I’m sorry, I know we’re kinda, sorta, maybe dating? So I should’ve spoken to you first, everything just happened so fast I-”

“Kook, don’t worry about it. If you just wanna be friends then I’m cool with that, you two look cute together anyway.” Mingyu laughs.

“You sure?”

“Definitely. We never even kissed so I already figured you weren’t really into it, we’ll just pretend our dates were all just hangouts so nothing is weird.” Mingyu ensures him which makes Jungkook sigh in relief.

Jungkook was glad he was able to keep his friendship with Mingyu, working with someone who hates you was bound to not be a good experience so he’s relieved. But now he has his date with Taehyung to worry about, and he’s praying to every single God that he’s able to not embarrass himself tonight.
