Summer Loving

☀︎ 14 ☀︎

Taehyung never expected his holiday to be spent by constantly staring out into the sea, but as he sits on the beach and watches fondly over a certain red haired boy he couldn’t imagine himself spending it any other way. His brothers had decided to take a surf lesson today which is what he was currently watching, although he can’t help but feel paranoid when he see’s Jin speaking to Jungkook for too long, he can only imagine what kind of things he’s saying to him.

“So, when are you going to make things official with Yoongi?” Taehyung asks, breaking the silence between him and his best friend.

“Me and Yoongi are just having fun, we agreed for this to only be a summer fling, nothing more.”

“But you like him, Chim. You can’t fool me, I’ve known you my entire life.”

“He’s not interested in relationships, I can’t ruin this just because I allowed myself to catch feelings.”

Taehyung sighs, it was clear that Yoongi felt the same way yet they were both being too dense to admit it to each other. “Try talking to him again, if he doesn’t want anything more then at least you can say you tried.”

“Just because you have a boyfriend now doesn’t mean you should be playing matchmaker for me. Namjoon is single, try being a cupid for him.”

“Stop being so stubborn and actually go after what you want, you’ll regret it if you don’t.”

“Fine, I’ll talk to him. Happy now?” Jimin groans.

Taehyung nods happily, “ecstatic.”

“Are you seeing Jungkook tonight?”

“Yeah. We’re going to watch some movies back at his cabin and order some pizza.”

“Wait, wait, wait. Hold up for a second.” Jimin sits up, the surprised expression on his face making Taehyung more than confused. “You’re telling me that Kim Taehyung, the boy who never eats any pizza other than an unreasonably priced authentic Italian made one in a high-end restaurant, is going to sit in a rundown beach cabin whilst eating a pizza that costs literally one-tenth of the price he’s used to?”

“Wow, you make me sound like a real snob.”

“You are a snob.”

“Whatever. I don’t care though, I’m spending time with Kookie and that’s all that matters to me.” Taehyung says with a smile on his face.

“That boys changed you, I like it.” Jimin returns the smile.

Taehyung hums in agreement, smile only growing wider when he sees his brothers’ surf lesson is over and Jungkook was making his way over for his break. He instantly jumps up and meets him halfway, engulfing him into a hug and leaving kisses all over his face before finishing by placing a deep kiss on his lips.

“My brother didn’t grill you too much, did he?”

“A little, but It’s fine, I think I passed Jin’s test.” Jungkook laughs joyfully, his smile sparking a fire in Taehyung’s heart.

“He passed my test with flying colours, you definitely have my approval,” Jin says happily from where he was getting his hair carefully towel dried by Hoseok.

Jungkook’s smile seems glued to his face as he holds Taehyung close, only stopping to step a little back once he realises he just got out of the sea. “I’m making your shirt all wet, I’m sorry.”

“It’ll dry, don’t you dare move away from me.” Taehyung orders as he brings Jungkook back to him.

“That other surf instructor was hot, maybe I’ll jump on this whole ‘summer love’ train.” Namjoon absentmindedly comments.

“Tae, your cupid services are needed!” Jimin calls over causing Namjoon to blush in embarrassment that he said his thoughts out loud.

Taehyung laughs into Jungkook’s shoulder, now determined to get his brother at least a date before their time in Malta was up. This was definitely turning out to be the best summer ever for them all.

“Ready to take your first bite from a poor man’s pizza?” Jungkook wiggles his brows as he enters the cabin with a greasy pizza box in hand, the sight making Taehyung already gulp in unknown fear.

“What if it makes me sick? That’ll ruin pizza for me forever!”

“Stop being so dramatic, this pizza is greasy heaven.”

“The fact you added ‘greasy’ into that sentence just made me more nervous.” Taehyung shudders, he knows full well he was acting like a snob but he can’t help it. With his upbringing, he’s always viewed food like this to be unpalatable so the fact he was now trying it was like his own nightmare come true.

Jungkook only laughs at him and sets the pizza down on his bed between them. “I live off of this stuff and I’m still functioning.”

“I bet your insides hate you though.”

“Yeah, well, I’m happy and that’s all that matters. Now eat.” Jungkook passes a slice over to Taehyung who takes it with a grimace, already feeling the grease on his fingers.

Taehyung eyes it questionably, bringing it closer to his mouth only to pull it back again, repeating this action over and over again until Jungkook sighs loudly.

“Tae, you’re acting as if it’s poisonous.” Jungkook rolls his eyes before taking a big bite out of his own slice, humming in satisfaction as he chews.

“Okay, right, not poisonous, just pizza. You love pizza, Tae. You can do this.” Taehyung gives himself a pep talk which Jungkook can’t help but chuckle at, loving how cute his boyfriend was.

So Taehyung takes a bite, his face contorting into a grimace before softening the more he chewed. “Like it?” Jungkook asks.

“Hmm, It’s not bad. I still think the pizza I have is better though.”

“Well, I should think it is since I’d have to sell a kidney to pay for one.”

Taehyung laughs at the comment and makes a note to take Jungkook out for a real pizza one day, maybe even take him to Italy for one. His thoughts run wild at that, thinking of how romantic a holiday in Italy would be for them, but maybe he was getting a little too ahead of himself since they’ve only been officially together for a week now.

They manage to eat the pizza between giggles and flirty comments, both of them already so comfortable in each other’s presence as if they had been together for a year longer than they actually had. Taehyung always thinks how crazy it is that he had managed to fall so fast for someone, he had never felt anything even close to the feelings he had for Jungkook and vice versa.

“I want you to meet my parents.” Taehyung blurts out as Jungkook was throwing away the empty pizza box, the younger spinning his head around immediately with a look of fear on his face.

“You do?”

“I know it’s a little soon since we haven’t been together long, but I really think that what we have is something I want to share with my entire family. Besides, my mom will absolutely love you.” Taehyung smiles brightly, but the look of fear on Jungkook’s face doesn’t decrease.

“What if they think I’m not good enough for you? I’m not even close to being financially stable so what if they think I’m just after your money? They’re gonna hate me, they’ll take one look at me and think you’ve brought some tramp off the streets home with you. What if-”

“They won’t.” Taehyung cuts him off by saying, beckoning him over to sit back on the bed. “They’ll take one look at how happy you make me and they won’t even begin thinking those things.”

“Promise?”

“Promise. Don’t panic, rich parents aren’t always judgmental dicks.” Taehyung says with a laugh.

Jungkook nods in agreement, after all, he shouldn’t just assume Taehyung’s parents will look down on him just because he hasn’t got money. If it makes Taehyung happy then he’s willing to do it, he’ll push all his insecurities aside to ensure his happiness.

They spend the rest of the night cuddling and watching movies on Jungkook’s old laptop and both of them would never want it any other way. All fear melts from the younger’s body as he holds his boyfriend tight against him, all he could feel was joy now. With that joy came excitement, excitement to meet the people who managed to create a person as beautiful and amazing as Taehyung. After all, the fact Taehyung deems him special enough to introduce to his parents is victory enough for him.
