Merman °Taekook

It was late in the afternoon the next day when the ship reached the harbor of Kkaepsong Taehyung was laying in Jeongguk’s arms, sleeping soundlessly while the raven smiled, stroking his fluffy hair. Taehyung clung onto him like a cute koala with his arms and legs wrapped around Jeongguk’s muscular frame.

Hoseok and Yoongi were secretly fangirling over the cute sight but looked innocently away when Jeongguk glanced towards them, his dark eyebrows furrowed. “You okay there?“, he asked them concerned while correcting Taehyung’s position in his arms. The merman grumbled in his sleep, pressing his cheek onto Jeongguk’s shoulder.

Hoseok squealed when he saw how puffy Taehyung’s cheek became and Jeongguk looked up with a raised eyebrow. “Everything’s good?“, the captain said while turning his attention back to the wooden wheel in his other hand that wasn’t holding Taehyung.

“Totally fine”, Yoongi squeaked high-pitched and coughed while Hoseok laughed loudly. “Yeah...“, Jeongguk said awkwardly, his muscles flexed under Taehyung’s bum and the boy looked up with tired eyes, slapping Jeongguk’s arm.

“Stop being all manly at let me sleep”, he whined cutely and Jeongguk laughed, pecking his forehead before Taehyung leaned against his shoulder again.

The Yoonseok couple meanwhile died from all the cuteness.

“Hey Jiminie!“, Hoseok said in his usual bright mood and smiled widely at the sea wizard who looked up from the book he was reading. He was staying in the small medical room the ship held, being brought in by Yoongi and Hoseok. It was his room since Jeongguk felt bad for letting him stay in the prison.

The two had talked yesterday, and Jeongguk apologized for his wrong doings. And Jimin, being the kind-hearted person he was, forgave him since he knew how much Jeongguk meant to Taehyung. And he knew, that Jeongguk loved Taehyung dearly. Which was obvious since he even apologized to Jimin.

But as long as Taehyung was happy, Jimin was too.

“I wanted to ask if you want to join us going outside! We’ve reached Kkaepsong, so we’re going on land”, Hoseok said and smiled warmly at Jimin who stared at him blankly. “Is Tae coming too?“, he asked Hoseok and Hoseok scratched his neck, looking unsure. “Uhm, I dunno? But I think he will since Jeon doesn’t let him go anywhere alone... well not that he can walk”, Hoseok said and smiled down at Jimin.

“Yoongi and I would love to have you with us... showing you the village and the market. I-if you want to of course, we are not forcing you”, Hoseok panicked but stopped when Jimin laid his hand on his arm.

“I would love to”, Jimin said softly and smiled.

“Jeonggukie, look!“, Taehyung squealed overexcited and pointed at the many, multiple colored stands of the bazaar while Jeongguk chuckled amused by the cute reactions of his Baby. The raven-haired pirate was carrying Taehyung like a princess and Taehyung was happily giggling in Jeongguk’s arms.

The prince loved being in the safety of Jeongguk’s arms while Jeongguk enjoyed the feeling of Taehyung’s warmth, loving how the boy cuddled up to him, snuggling more into his arms while sighing in content. “Do you wanna stop somewhere, Darling?“, Jeongguk suggested and Taehyung turned his head, his huge brown eyes filled with happiness and joy.

“Really? Yes!“, he announced cutely while showing Jeongguk his box smile and Jeongguk smiled, planting a kiss on Taehyung’s hair. “Anything for you, Baby”, he grinned and walked to the place where Taehyung was pointing overexcited.

The citizens were a bit intimidated by the group of dangerous looking pirates but they all softened by the sight of the petite and utterly adorable boy laying in the captain’s arms. Jeon Jeongguk, king of all pirates, was holding the beautiful angel in his arms while smiling.

And everyone was asking themselves, how the hell this cold man could turn soft. And what the point was in having a soft pirate king.

Jeongguk on the other side ignored everyone while placing Taehyung carefully on a stone. Taehyung smiled up to him before glancing at the stand nearby, his bog doe eyes widened. “Oh, look, Jeonggukie! She’s selling sea shells! Look how pretty they are!“, Taehyung exclaimed and Jeongguk smiled at his cute merman before walking to the stand.

An old woman, looked kindly at him, smiling even though she was scared of him. Jeongguk wasn’t the pirate king for nothing after all, he was well known. And feared. “Good evening, Jeon”, she greeted him while he only stared at her blankly.

He kept glancing at the shells, pretty ones which were painted in multiple, bright colors. The woman’s eyes widened when Jeongguk moved to the side a bit, staring at a bright golden shell. She had spotted Taehyung who was busy looking around the bazaar with huge eyes.

The woman was old, her sight was not that good when she was young. But she could recognize a creature of the sea when she saw one. “He’s a beautiful one”, she said and Jeongguk looked up, his bottom lip captured in between his bunny teeth. The raven was confused what she meant until he looked to Taehyung.

The merman was practically glowing in the warm golden light of the undergoing sun, the sunset behind him looked beautiful and stunning, just like the merman himself. “He is”, Jeongguk said proudly, his eyes filled with love before picking up the golden shell and looking at it mesmerized. It reminded him of Taehyung.

When he moved it, the golden color lit up, turning into a red glow and Jeongguk was mesmerized by the sight. “Take it, son”, the woman said kindly and looked from Taehyung to Jeongguk.

“It’s for your little beauty over there, right?“, she asked Jeongguk knowing and sighed when she glanced at Taehyung. “That I got to see a prince of the sea in my age... take it, my son. See it as a payment for being allowed to look at such a beautiful and pure creature”, the old woman said and shook her head when Jeongguk wanted to hand her money.

“Just take it. And take good care of the merman, do you hear me?“, she went on and Jeongguk looked to Taehyung again. The redhead waved cutely at Jeongguk when he caught him looking at him, smiling widely at the pirate before turning to watch the festival again.

The woman noticed with how much love and admiration the young pirate king looked at the merman who was a human. “I don’t know what happened between you, but you need to treasure this love as much as possible. Such deep love is precious these days”, she remarked and Jeongguk smiled at her before taking the shell.

“I’m not going to let it slide away”, he said honestly and quickly looked over to Taehyung to see if he was doing fine. “He used to be my captive, but now he is my world”, Jeongguk said trustworthy and the woman chuckled.

“Then protect him at any costs”, she told Jeongguk and the rave smiled at her, an honest, kind smile.

“I will.”

“What were you two talking about?“, Taehyung asked interested when Jeongguk walked back to him. “Nothing, Baby. Here, this is for you”, Jeongguk said and handed Taehyung the golden shell while caressing his hair.

Taehyung gasped surprised when he saw the beautiful shell. “Jeonggukie, really?“, he squealed stunned and stared at the present with huge eyes. “Yes, Darling”, Jeongguk replied gently, kissing Taehyung’s hair when the boy took the shell carefully out of his hands.

Tears brimmed in his eyes when he looked at the shell, it reminded him of home. No matter how often Taehyung would lie to himself, he missed his home. His parents and his brother. His two brothers...

“Thank you, Jeongguk... you have no idea how much this means to me”, Taehyung whispered and pressed the shell onto his heart. It symbolized home for the merman and Jeongguk was aware of this.

He gifted the boy a small piece of home.

Which was totally enough for Taehyung.

“Anything for you, Tae”, Jeongguk whispered and pulled the boy up in his embrace again, carrying him while Taehyung caressed the shell softly with his index finger. Jeongguk caught the knowing stare of the old woman and smiled at her.
