The Other Half Of Me

Chapter 16

“Rocky where are you?”

“ROCKY!” The voices of Emma, Jessie, Christina, Zuri, Ravi, Bertram and Luke called and shouted as they searched for Rocky out on the streets of New York. Morgan was searching as well in the family’s helicopter in the night with a spotlight that lit up the streets.

“ROCKY!” He called through a megaphone while the helicopter blades spun. The police were keeping an eye out for her too, but as she had not been missing for very long.

“I can’t see her anywhere,” Morgan said through a radio to his wife.

“We have to find her!” Christina said back through her radio.

“You sure this is where Vincent lives Emma?” She asked her daughter and Emma nodded.

“I’m sure. If Rocky’s going to be anywhere, it’s there.” Emma said as they walked down the streets of a rougher part of New York that had less money compared to the part the Ross’ lived in.

“Do you still have her signal, Jessie?” Emma asked and she nodded looking down at her phone.

“My tracking app says she’s in this building here,” Jessie said pointing to a club that was blasting out heavy and loud rock music.

“Oh, dear.” Ravi sputtered for the rest of the family as their eyes went wide. Christina held up her radio and spoke.

“Morgan we’re going into a club on the other side of town,” she said bravely down the radio and started to fight her way through the door with Emma following. Jessie watched her boss and her boss’ daughter valiantly enter the overcrowded building. Jessie would have followed but she thought of the kids who would be in danger even if they were with her.

“Let us go and kick some butt!” Ravi said holding a fist up like a warrior going into battle.

“Yeah, I wanna open up a can of butt-whoopin’ on Vincent!” Zuri added cracking her knuckles.

“You guys can’t go in there it’s too dangerous for you,” Jessie warned then turned to Luke surprised she was going to say this.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this,” She began and put a hand on Luke’s shoulder. “But Luke, you’re in charge. Take care of your siblings.” I said and went into the crowd after Christina and Emma.

“You hear that Ravi, I’m in charge!” Jessie heard Luke’s voice as she walked in and rolled her eyes. Please be okay Rocky, she hoped to herself.

I had been in this club with Vincent for over an hour now. It was longer then I wanted to be here for but Vincent had introduced me to his friends and always kept a protective and comforting arm around me and I was enjoying every second of it. His friends seemed to be okay. Some of them were older than him and there were a few girls that looked like they may be worked on the streets at night, but they all were nice to me and liked what I liked. While me and Vincent were sat in at a table together his friends were up dancing, I felt a little sad they left us but I was here with my boyfriend and was happy.

“Hey, you okay Rocky?” Vincent asked. I was sat comfortably in his lap and he had his arms around my waist.

“Yeah, I’m great,” I said leaning my head back to rest on his shoulder.

“You wanna go home yet? I know your folks are gonna be worrying.” He said and I sighed.

“If I’m honest Vincent. I just wanna stay here with you.” I said and he smiled.

“I wanna stay here with you too.” He said and placed a kiss on my cheek. I smiled feeling my cheeks heat up. This feeling Vincent makes me feel is weird to me. It feels like something blondie might like but at the same time, I like the feeling. It was you get when you like someone I suppose. Before Vincent and I could do anything else we were interrupted by a large guy that was tall and looked like he was as strong as an army that came running over to us while panting.

“Vince, Vincent!” He panted and Vincent sighed.

“Can’t you see I’m with my girl Drew?” Vincent scolded shaking his head and Drew quickly apologized.

“I’m sorry but, some fancy rich lady, a blonde girl in pink and a redhead have all just come in and they’re looking for your girl,” He said then panted more resting his hands on his knees. My eyes went wide.

“How the heck did they find me here?” I asked scrambling off Vincent’s lap. I stood up looking at him in distress as he stood up placing his hand on my shoulders.

“Whoa, chill out baby. You just have to say that you don’t wanna go with them. You’re safe with me after all.” He said and I wanted to nod in agreement, but this was my family and they did come here for me. It was crazy that they did this despite everything.

“Vincent, tonight has been great, but I’m gonna be in so much trouble if they find me so if I go now, I’ll do the adult thing and maybe they’ll let me see you again.” I joked at the end and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. He frowned at me.

“You wanna be a goody two shoes for your family and not hang out with me?” He sneered and my jaw fell open at what he called me.

“Goody two shoes?” I shouted repeating his words and took a step back. “Goody two-shoes?! Vincent, they’re my family! And I’m doing this partly for us too don’t you get that?!” I yelled at him a little angrily.

“They’re trying to keep us apart! And since when do you care about them?” He yelled back louder while standing up suddenly.

“ROCKY!” A high pitched voice nearly screeched at me and flinched knowing it was my Mom. I slowly turned around with my face pulled into a flinch to see that my Mom, Jessie and Blondie, and my other siblings were all stood either looking angry or shocked.

“What?” I answered trying hard not to have an attitude in my voice.

“Never mind what, you are in so much trouble!” My Mom yelled grabbing hold of my arm harshly. I sighed looking from her to Vincent.

“Look, I’m sorry but at least let me say bye to Vincent,” I asked and Jessie fake laughed and shook her head.

“No way, you ain’t ever seeing him again.” She said grabbing my other arm.

“What?!” I exclaimed looking at her then back at Vincent who was trying to get to me.

“You can’t keep us apart!” Vincent exclaimed and from her purse, Blondie took a pair of, pink scissors. She pointed them at her and both Vincent and I stopped.

“Stay away from her Vincent.” She said and he shook his head.

“Never. You don’t tell me what to do Emma. And you can’t tell Rocky what to do!” He spat then looked at me.

“Mom, Jessie, please. You can punish me all you want but don’t take me away from Vincent!” I exclaimed thrashing against them a little.

“Why the heck do you even care about this punk?” Jessie asked letting go of my arm. I pulled my other arm out of my Mom’s grasp then looked at them both seriously.

“He’s the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I’ve never felt so connected to someone before in my life,” I said turning to Vincent who was smiling at me.

“Well, what about if you had a twin?” Blondie asked and I froze. My eyes went wide and I slowly spun around to look at her.

“A twin?” I repeated and she nodded slowly.

“A long lost twin recently found.” She added, then it hit me. I started to shake my head.

“No,” I said and she nodded taking a step towards me.

“I’m your twin sister Rocky.” She said. What. The. Heck?
