CHAPTER ONE; THE COFFEE SHOP.
huang renjun worked at a coffee shop, a few blocks down from the college he went to. he worked from 2:30 to 8:00, then went home and painted until 10:00, which was the time he went to sleep. this was his normal, everyday routine. it rarely changed, unless there was a special occasion he had to attend.
na jaemin came to the coffee shop at 3:00 everyday, ordering an iced caramel macchiato and sitting at the table closest to the bathroom, where he ate strawberries he’d bought from walmart and wrote cute love stories on his macbook air. he’d stay until 7:30, leaving renjun an encouraging note on the table.
to say renjun instantly developed a crush on this strawberry loving boy was a bit of an understatement. his best friend jangmi could attest to that.
“your heart literally explodes every time you see him,” she’d say. “just talk to him!” and then renjun would dramatically explain to her why that could never happen. “one,” he’d start, “we’ve never spoken to each other, excluding the several times he’s ordered his daily caramel macchiato.” jangmi would laugh, saying, “dude, that’s the point! start a conversation with him or something, he goes to our school!”
“no no no. you and i both know i couldn’t do that without me making a fool out of myself in some way!” renjun would reply. “plus, talking to him could mess up my routine in so many ways.”
“jun, that’s the dumbest excuse i’ve ever heard in my life. people on my 600-pound life make better excuses than you do.”
“wow, how are you better at dissing me than donghyuck is?" he’d chuckle. “because i am,” she got up from the couch. “have fun listening to ‘falling in love at a coffee shop’ and painting the same thing over and over again.”
“screw you mimi!” renjun would shout as she walked into her room.
