AMORTENTIA : A DRAMIONE FANFICTION

Summary

This story is the aftermath of the battle of hogwarts. Everyone is happy on the outside but on the inside, every single person is broken. There's no more discrimination between pure bloods and muggles because the kind of grief everyone experienced during the battle was alike for purebloods, halfbloods and muggles. Hermione is one of those broken people and so is Draco, but love will bloom in such a situation too and make them forget all their painful memories. OBLIVIATE !

Chapter 1

“Why???? Have I done anything wrong??? I know I am not being able to give you enough time but... we can figure it out...” Hermione said, her voice was shaking but she didn’t want to cry in front of Ron.

“Look Hermione, you are the best girl I have ever met in my life. But this is not working out. I don’t feel the sparks when we kiss anymore. Besides, I like someone else Hermione. Please don’t misunderstand me. You are a really nice girl but you aren’t the girl for me and I am not the guy for you.” After saying this, Ron walked away leaving Hermione alone in the corridor.

A tear slipped out of Hermione’s eye. This was the first time she had ever shed a tear after the battle of hogwarts.

“I guess I deserve better.” She said to herself and walked to the great hall.

She went to the gryffindor table where her friends were sitting. Unfortunately, she had to sit beside Ron because all the other places were occupied.

She started eating her meatballs.

“Are you ok Hermione, you don’t usually eat meatballs...” Ginny asked as she was concerned.

“Yeah, nothing to worry about.” Hermione said and faked a smile.

Ron glanced at her from the side of his eye but continued eating his own meal.

Hermione lifted her head and saw Draco sitting at the Slytherin table, sad, broken. Pansy, Blaise and Astoria were trying their level best to cheer him up but he wasn’t even paying attention to then. He had always been like that since the battle of hogwarts.

Hermione knew the feeling of having parents but not being able to be with them. Draco’s condition was similar to Hermione’s. She found herself staring at the vulnerable Draco, Draco glanced up and saw her looking at him but ignored and kept eating his cupcake. Pansy looked at Hermione and gave her a sad smile.

Everything had changed since the battle of hogwarts. Nobody had any hard feelings for each other. Pansy and Hermione were good friends now. Nobody could ever imagine that they were once die hard enemies.

Houses had become just tags. People had started to go to the common rooms of other houses to meet their friends.

Hermione felt a hand on hers, it was Ginny’s. “Are you sure that you’re ok ’Mione?” Ginny asked.

“Yeah Gin.” Hermione said to Ginny and faked a smile again.

Hermione’s POV

No, I’m not okay. How can you expect me to be ok? Everyone has lost someone or the other in the Battle of Hogwarts, but the people I’ve lost are alive but aren’t with me and I don’t know if they ever will be. Nobody can feel my pain except Draco. Yeah, I hated him but we both are sailing in the same boat.

I thought this to myself just when the owls arrived with the daily prophet. Harry sighed. He missed Hedwig. First his parents, then Sirius, then Dumbledore and then Hedwig. Everyone had a smile plastered on their face but all of us were going through unimaginable pain.

I read the headline on the front page of daily prophet. It read:

LUCIUS MALFOY: THE VICIOUS DEATH EATER SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT IN AZKABAN

The wholewas covered with that news.

Then I turned the page. I saw other headlines like:

IS DRACO MALFOY REALLY INNOCENT?

MALFOY FAMILY: THE FAMILY OF DEATH EATERS

LESTRANGEs , BLACKs AND MALFOYs: WHAT’S THE USE OF BEING PUREBLOOD?

It was like the whole newspaper was about the Malfoy family. That’s when I saw Draco get up and leave the great hall. I also saw Blaise and Pansy sigh. They were trying really hard to bring the cheerful Draco back. It was like he was lost in the Triwizard maze. Too hard to find, but not impossible....

I turned to the next page of the Daily Prophet. It read:

WILL SLUGHORN BE ABLE TO PREPARE A POTION TO BRING HERMIONE GRANGER’S PARENTS’ MEMORY BACK?

Yeah, Slughorn was trying to make a potion that could bring my parents’ memory back. He is really good at potions but I didn’t think he could make such a potion. If Snape was alive, he could definitely make a potion that could bring back someone’s memory and break the Memory charm.

It still gave me shivers when I remembered how I used the memory charm to erase my parents’ memory.

“Obliviate”

It was the worst moment of my life....
