The Light Within the Darkness

Adventure / Action

Chapter 1

Hi readers! FrozenDeluxe writing here...

So this is my first time writing an FF, so it may not be the best compared to others. I'll explain a bit...

Way back when I was reading WGOK: What Happened Next by KodakaRedfox I figured I might give it a try. I wrote down a chapter on my phone. Then another. I'll be honest- imagining this was much more fun than writing it. If I get enough views I may update (I have more you know.) I am one of those people who don't know when they will ever be online, so I may not be able to post continuously. I'll try a double chapter now.

That being said, enjoy the FF!

--Update: I put this fanfic on inkitt as an experiment, but this is the exact same version as the one on FF, with all of its imperfections and cringes.

After the fall of Vintage, its members were scattered throughout the human world. There was no returning to Hell. No, the new devils had made sure of that.

Enter Satyr, an organization so secret even Vintage is somewhat unaware of its actions. Its members are far more sinister, without conscience or hesitation. There came a day where a bulletin was issued. The member who kills the most demons and obtains their rainments will be promoted and showered with power and glory. They went wild.

...

In the midnight skies over Maijima City, six Vintage demons chased after Lune. "How predictable,"Lune thought, "that Vintage would turn on its own members over such an important promotion."

"Just give us your rainment, and we'll let you live," one of them hissed.

"You know that isn't possible," replied Lune with a smile on her face while dodging a pursuant's knife. A demon summoned spirit vines to grab Lune as she flew, though she dodged them with ease. The other demons were starting to fall behind her... Lune managed to maneuver some of the demons into spirit vines, but a few remained in pursuit.

Suddenly, a vine caught her foot. Lune stumbled midair, the vine wrapping itself around her leg. She tripped directly into the path of a demon, who slashed vigorously in an attempt to kill her. Lune

managed to deflect most of the blows with her boxcutter, but the demon's knife managed to slice into her chest, making a deep gash. The three remaining demons took advantage of this, quickly surrounded her, and prepared to cast an assassination spell. Lune's felt her energy ebb away as her wound bled.

"I guess this leaves me one last option..." Lune thought.

She quickly cast an invisibility spell on herself, then created a bright flash using her rainment. The Vintage demons quickly scattered to find her, not realizing she was still there, hovering where the flash originated. The world below did not take notice of this brilliant flicker of light in the sky.

Lune suddenly descended from the skies, the last of her energy struggling to keep her steady. She landed roughly in a park just as the sun rose, then proceeded to search for a hidden area, somewhere safe. As she searched for a hideout, her invisibility spell wore off, leaving a small blood trail behind her. Lune headed towards a heavily wooded section until her legs gave way and her vision clouded. She lay there, weak and without defenses, ready to die. She pulled out her boxcutter and gripped it tightly, as though it was her only lifeline keeping her alive. Her vision gradually dimmed, until she could only see darkness.

"This is it for me," whispered Lune with a slight grin before losing consciousness.

Cassie Jacobson: So many twists and turns. Keeps you wanting to read to see what happens next. The main character is detailed well. The struggles and growth of Joby makes you admire her. It gives you a proud satisfied feeling while reading it. A refreshing difference then most books out there today, and in a w...

littlebunnypoopoos: Omg this was so amazing! The ending was a little bad and predictable. But otherwise, I need a second book or I'll die :D The character development was excellent and the whole romance, action, and suspense was superb

dd1226: I love reading about other countries and I think this story about Cambodia after Polpot creates awareness of the tragedy that happened there and the actions of the U.N. to hold elections. The heroine of the story is easy to relate to, a modern, middleaged woman looking for an adventure, wanting t...

makaylakay: I love love this story! It's written incredibly and well thought-out plot! I love how it's a different twist in fantasy fiction, other then the usual vampire or werewolves. Love the romantics and drawn to the two characters so much already! This book will draw you in within the first chapter and ...

Christopher Chew: Been a while since reading was this fun. The plot was easy to follow and built at a gradual but good pace. The dynamics between each character were interesting and kept things fresh and exciting, very much so that you would forgive it for not going deeper into the back stories of each character. ...

heavyreader: great scifi novels but needs a better spell checker (check auto-substitution level) and grammar checker!!! otherwise, ready for mass market publishing!!

Dru83: This is the second or third time I've read this one and I just love it. It has just about everything you could ever want packed into one scifi story. It still has some parts that are a little rough in terms of grammar, punctuation, and word usage, but it's still an awesome story. I love how detai...

taosgw74: If this is the authors first attempt at writing, I'm floored. I was engrossed in the plot from the get go.

Sarah Luongo: My friend recommended this to me and I was hooked immediately. The images and voices of these characters come so clearly in my head, which I love. I love seeing from all of these characters points of view, and still the book has a continuous flow. There are some punctuation and grammar mistakes, ...

I finished it in one day!! love this book!! looking forward to more from this author, if not about ASTA, more of the same style!! PLEASE!!!???

Erin Crowley: The concept here is really strong, but the execution is definitely lacking. Tenses, grammar, etc are all off, with at least one or more errors per 'Page' on my phone. The writing style is almost broken- sentences move into each other awkwardly, and are filled with an excess of "filler words", lik...

JWalker: I loved this story from start to finish! It flows at a really nice pace and the story world feels so real. The fight sequences are a treat especially when Isanfyre is training to become a warrior. I found the names really cool and thankfully easy to pronounce. Personally I have always struggled w...

re8622: The Last Exodus quickly grabbed my attention. Almost as soon as I started reading the story, I couldn't put it down. I found that the ideas the author put forth were very thought provoking given the turmoil we have seen gradually rise over the last several years. I felt that I could understand th...
