Chapter 9: Another Us
I do not own Naruto and Avatar nor do I make any money off of this.
Chapter 9: Another Us
The rest of the second day, and most of the third was spent showing off bending, jutsus, and attack plans. Soon, each learned at least five different attacks. It was Katara that noticed the change of color on Sasuke and Naruto's bracelets.
As a parting gift, Aang gave Naruto and Sasuke a bag he no longer used. It was full of nuts. Katara gave them an orb of ice kept in a jar. Naruto used Yuko's camera to take a picture of the group. They said their good-byes and stood next to each other.
"Hey," Sokka said. "I have one last question. What's up with the collars?" Before either Naruto or Sasuke could answer, a green light surrounded them, and then they were gone.
"I forgot to show them this," Katara said. She held a piece of paper. On it was a picture of Naruto and Sasuke. It was a Fire Nation Wanted Poster. "Looks like the Fire Nation has wasted their time. They are never gonna find Naruto and Sasuke."
Naruto blushed as a hand went up to his necklace. He thought about taking it off, but it tied him to Sasuke. Sasuke hadn't taken off his own necklace. He also didn't want to remove the bond it created. The two silently decided to keep wearing them.
The two finally stopped looking at each other and noticed that they were no longer with Team Avatar. Naruto gasped as he saw were he was. Sasuke smirked. They were in Konoha.
"We're home," Naruto said happily.
"Hn," Sasuke grunted. He looked around. Something was different about Konoha, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Suddenly, a scream caught both boys' attentions. "Sasuke!" Several girls ran up to the raven.
"You're so sexy, Sasuke!" a girl with dark brown hair said.
"I love your new look," another girl said.
Words kept coming from the girls as they each touched Sasuke. He did his best not to just kill them all. Naruto stood back, shocked at the sight.
"Sasuke?" a familiar girl's voice asked. Naruto turned around and Sasuke turned his head to see Sakura standing there. She frowned. "Alright, break it up! Sasuke has a mission report to turn in. The Hokage won't be happy if he's late." With complaints, the girls scattered. "Come on Sasuke. I think you should change. Those girls are like hyenas." She grabbed Sasuke's arm and began to pull him towards an apartment building. Naruto blankly followed them.
When they got to a certain room, Sakura motioned Sasuke to open it. But Sasuke couldn't since he didn't have the key. "Did you lose your key or something?" She rolled her eyes and took out her spare key. "You're just like Menma, always losing things." She opened the door and walked right in. Sasuke and Naruto looked at each other in confusion, but entered the apartment as well. Sakura went and got them drinks. "So why are you dressed like that, Sasuke? And Menma, what's up with the hair? If you keep dyeing it, you'll ruin your hair."
Naruto noticed that her eyes were on him. "Menma?" He chuckled. "Funny Sakura! I know my name means fish cake and that's in ramen with menma, but calling me Menma is a bit mean. Eh, Sakura-chan?"
"Changing your name too, Menma?" Sakura asked. "What would your parents think?"
Naruto froze and Sasuke's eyes went to him. "P-parents?"
"Yeah," Sakura said. "I'm sure Minato-san would be happy to see that you changed your hair back to blonde, but..."
Naruto grabbed Sakura's shoulders. "Where are they?"
Sakura raised an eyebrow. "At your house, of course." without another word, Naruto bolted out the door. "That was strange. It was as if Menma thought his parents were dead."
Sasuke was confused. The last he knew, Naruto didn't have parents. And Sakura was calling him Menma. Sasuke looked out a window and his eyes widened. On Hokage mountain were five heads. It was the fourth one that captured his eyes. Instead of the Fourth Hokage that Sasuke grew up learning about, Sakura's father's face was there. He frowned. They may have been in Konoha, but it wasn't their Konoha. Sasuke and Naruto were in a Konoha of a different world. Just as Sasuke was about to say something to Sakura, the door to the apartment opened.
A boy with raven hair that stuck up in the back stepped into the room. He wore blue pants, a dark blue tank-top, and a purple jacket. A necklace with the Uchiwa symbol hung from his neck. Sasuke's eyes met the stranger's similar ones. Both glared.
"Who are you?" the man asked.
"Sasuke?" Sakura asked. "But.." She trailed off. Her hands went up to form a seal. "Kai!" But nothing happened.
The man let his Sharingan spin as he looked at Sasuke. Sasuke did the same, even though he knew who the other man was. "Impossible. Who are you?"
Sasuke smirked. "You."
Naruto ran to his apartment only to find someone else living there. The old lady yelled at him saying to leave people alone. He didn't know where else to look, but he though the Hokage might know. He turned the corner only to run into someone. He looked up to see Team 10 standing before him. He had run into Ino. But something was off about the team in front of him. Ino was acting shy, Shikamaru look like he was Kiba doing a bad impersonation of the genus, and Choji was standing there calmly, not eating a bag of chips.
"H-hi Menma," Ino said. "Sorry about bumping into you."
"Ah, no problem?" Naruto was confused.
"You look like you've lost something," Choji said. "Can we be of any help?"
"Um... I can't find my house," Naruto couldn't believe he'd just said that.
Sure enough, Team 10 looked at him strangely. "You hit your head or something?" Shikamaru asked. "Never thought I'd see the day when Menma'd forget something. Lose something, sure, but not forget. Are you and Sasuke having too much... Fun? And what's up with the hair? I thought you dyed it black so people would mistake you for Minato-san."
Naruto was surprised that Shikamaru had spoken so much. He shook his head. "Just tell me where I, and my family, live."
Choji pointed to a large house just down the street. "You should be getting home anyway. Kushina-san is probably waiting for you. I'd get there fast or she'll burn down the... place."
Naruto was already running home. He made it to the house and slammed open the door. A woman with red hair narrowed her gray eyes. "Menma! What did I say about... slamming the door. Your hair! You dyed it back!" The woman hugged the blonde. "Minato will be so happy?"
"M-mom?" Naruto asked. It was only his second time meeting her, but she was different.
"Yes sweaty?" Kushina asked.
"W-where is Dad?" Naruto asked. He wanted to see him too.
"Minato!" Kushina yelled. "Come greet your son!"
"No need to yell," Minato said. He scratched the back of his neck. "Ah! Menma, your hair."
"Dad!" Naruto ran and jumped Minato. His arms wrapped around the taller man.
Both Kushina and Minato were surprised by this act. "Are you ok? Did something happen with Sasuke?"
"No," Naruto said. "Everything is fine."
"Um..." a voice by the door caught Kushina, Minato, and Naruto's attentions. "What's going on?"
