I. First Blood

It was a wonderful day in the village of Sotoba, kids were playing outside the school, while the teenagers were heading home. Natsuno Koide stood next to his sister, Aihara Koide. She was younger than him for two years, though, she was very mature for her age. People remember her as a Kuudere, she was cold on the outside, but she was kind and caring when you got to know her. Just like her brother...

"Natsuno! Aihara!" Their mother, Azusa Koide, called them to eat. "Natsuno.. Could you stop studying?.." Aihara asked. "She's out there..." Her brother replied. "Who? Megumi? Why don't you close the window?" Aihara suggested. "I'll be waiting in the dinner room.."

"So.. Aihara, how was school?" Her father, Yuuki, asked. "Fine.. I guess..." she answered. "Have you heard that a new family is moving? They have built an European-styled mansion.." Azusa said. "Oh, yeah, the Kirishiki family..." Natsuno replied unemotionally. "They're moving to Kanimasa, right?" Aihara asked. "Yeah.. I think so.." Azusa answered.

"Koide!" Akira greeted his friend. "It's Aihara.. Please, don't call me by my last name, I'm not my brother..." she replied. "So.. um.. I was wondering.. If.. you wanted to make the project with me... He, he.." Akira Tanaka scratched his neck. "Sure.." Aihara answered with a short smile. "Aihara, the bus is coming.." Natsuno said. "Nah.. I'll walk home.." Aihara replied before she walked away with the Tanakas.

"Oh.. Good morning Yuuki, staring at the big city, huh? Feeling home-sick?" Megumi Shimizu asked. Natsuno kept silent. "I guess you're still ignoring me.." She added. "So.. no sign of the bus yet?" Megumi continued speaking. "I can't wait to leave this village," she added under her breath. Natsuno noticed that. The Koide/Yuuki siblings had moved from the big city, since their parents wanted a peaceful life.

Suddenly, a smile came out of Megumi Shimizu, she was happy because Natsuno had looked at her. He turned his head back again towards the road.

Aihara slowly arrived home, she was about to open the door, when she felt someone staring at her. "Huh?" She asked with a little bit of fear. ~Who's there?~ she thought. She saw some red lights coming from a bush. Natsuno opened the door, scaring his sister even more. "Ha.. Did you see a ghost or something?" Natsuno teased. "It's not funny.." Aihara crossed her arms. "Come inside.. It's late.." Natsuno hugged Aihara by the shoulder.
"Alright.. We'll help you look for your daughter.." Aihara heard her father's voice speaking on the phone. "What's wrong honey?" Her mother asked. "Apparently, Megumi Shimizu has gone missing.." Yuuki replied.

"Megumi! Megumi!" The men of Sotoba shouted while looking for her. You could hear them from the Koide house. "Natsuno.. Are you ok?" Aihara asked her brother. "Yeah.. why should I be worried? It's not like I care about her.." Natsuno replied. "Well.. I'm a bit worried.. What if they get us next?" Aihara asked. "Don't worry.. I'll make sure that nothing bad happens to you.." Natsuno reassured.

Men were still looking for that 15 year-old, by walking through the forest, while flashing their torches. "I've found her!" Someone shouted. Poor Megumi Shimizu was laying on the floor, unconscious, with no injuries.. Just some bug bites, according to what Doctor Toshio Ozaki said.

"Aihara! Aihara! They've found Megumi!" Akira Tanaka announced. "Great.. I guess.."Aihara Koide answered. "The doctor said she has anemia.." Akira said. "I'll go tell Yuuki.. Thanks.." Aihara coldly said before she walked home.
"Ari.. darling.. Come meet Chizuru Kirishiki.. she's our new neighbor!" Asuza called. "Mom.. I've told you to not call me Ari.." Aihara whispered. "Hi Ms. Kirishiki.." the 13 year-old added. "Oh.. We're neighbors.. Please.. Call me Chizuru.." 'Chizuru' smiled. She was really pretty.. A blonde-curvy woman, but her eyes had something weird... Appearently they were dark, no pupil or anything.. Just... Darkness...

A few days later, Aihara was convinced by Kaori to visit Megumi. She knocked the door, which was opened by Megumi's father. "Oh.. Hi Mr. Shimizu.. Could I see how Megumi's doing?" Aihara asked with a tiny smile. "Sure.." Mr. Shimizu answered as he invited Aihara-chan in.
As soon as she entered Megumi's room, she was surprised by a weird scent... It smelled like Chizuru's perfume, and Aihara could notice that. Megumi was laying on her bed, with the bedsheets covering her face. "Megumi? How are you doing?" Aihara smiled, but Megumi wouldn't answer. Aihara slowly walked towards Shimizu's bed, and moved the sheets.
Megumi was dead.
"Mr. Shimizu!!! Mr. Shimizu!!!" Aihara shouted, filled with fear. She knelt in front of the pink bed, as Mr. Shimizu and his wife came in a rush. "Oh no. Megumi.. Megumi.." Ms. Shimizu cried.
Aihara ran out of the house, with her face being really pale. When she ran past Kaori, she started crying.
"Aihara..! Are you alright?! " Akira Tanaka stopped his friend. "I- I.. I just saw Shimizu dead..!" Aihara replied with her voice breaking. Akira stood in shock while Aihara ran away.

"Natsuno.. Brother.. I'm scared..." Aihara ran and hugged Natsuno. "Don't worry.. Just tell me what happened.." He suggested. Aihara panted, but she fell asleep (or fainted) in her brother's arms. She had been running from the Shimizu residence, past the Kanimasa mansion, and arrived home.
"I won't let anything happen to you.." Natsuno whispered in her ear, before he carried him and put her in her bed.

"Kaori! Kaori! Megumi is dead.." Akira Tanaka informed his sister.
"What?! But I've just seen her.." Kaori said. "This can't be happening.."

"What's the cause of death, doctor?" Mr. Shimizu asked. "Apparently.. An anemia that led to an organ failure.." Doctor Toshio said. "But I can't be sure unless we perform an autopsy.." he added.
"Are you crazy? We're not going to let you cut our daughter.. She'll be buried like our deceased familiars." Mr. Shimizu yelled before Toshio got out of the residence...
"At first, everyone is disgusted. Afraid to bear the sin of killing people. Afraid to receive punishment for replenishing themselves with the life of another."

Jessica Esa: With a tantalising end to the first chapter, the authour has given us a treat and a welcome addition to the fantasy adventure genre. Erin Crowley: The concept here is really strong, but the execution is definitely lacking. Tenses, grammar, etc are all off, with at least one or more errors per 'Page' on my phone.
