I made my way slowly into my classroom on my crutches. With one hand I pushed open the door and hobbled in. The teacher didn't spare me a glance, along with the rest of the occupants of the classroom. Ignored completely, as usual. I flopped into my usual seat in the back of the room and idly listened to the regular morning buzz before class. Yep, it was a normal day for me, until some decided to pick their things up and sit next to me.
Let me get this straight. I don't have any friends whatsoever besides my brother. Though I didn't show it, let me tell you, I was surprised as HELL when somebody stood up, carrying their things to the desk besides me. Looking from behind my bangs, I saw whoever it was sit down and inconspicuously scoot closer to me me. I wasn't surprised anymore. No, i was just straight up confused now.
No, not even confused at this point, I was flabbergasted. Who'd want to sit by me of all people? Me, the demon child. I spared a glance in that person's general direction and was surprised to see Ryuji or betterly known as Bon sitting there, looking at me.
"Rooster? What are you doing?" I whispered, using the name I had correctly dubbed him.
"Sitting, blueberry, what does it look like? This is my homeroom too you know." He answered with traces of sarcasm.
"Blue Berry...? Nevermind."
I raised an eyebrow at the name. 'Since when am I a blueberry?!' I blew a strand of navy blue hair out of my face and then it hit me. 'Ugh, i'm an idiot.' I mentally face palmed myself. 'I call him Rooster because of his hair, He calls me Blue Berry from my hair.'
Class began and I payed little to no attention, already knowing all about this topic. I propped my head up with my fist, closing my eyes. I was just starting to doze off when a small piece of paper hit my left arm. Opening one eye, I looked down to investigate and found... a note? Quietly, I opened it and read it.
'You really should pay attention you know.'
I looked to my side and saw Ryuji staring at me.
'why? I already know all about this.'
I flicked the note back. Moments later it came back.
'You do? How?'
Rolling my eyes, I wrote a reply.
'During summer break I got bored, and when I get bored I pick up random books and read them. I ended up reading some of my father's old math books. I picked up a couple things.'
I threw the note to the ground, and passed it over to him with my injured leg, wincing a bit as I pulled my leg the wrong way. I watched his write a reply.
'Oh, I see. Enough about that, how's your leg doing?'
I grimaced, glancing down at my left leg. I quickly scrawled a reply.
'Not too good, but doing better. Thanks for helping me out a couple days ago by the way. Before you ask, yes, I'll tell you what happened. We should probably stop passing these, though. you'll get in trouble.'
I sent it back to him. He read it, and looked at me. I mouthed "Free period". He nodded, and turned back to the still droning teacher, who thankfully hadn't noticed our exchange. Soon, class was over, and I went to my next class. The time dragged on by and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I held my bag in one hand and made my way towards my usual tree with my brother by my side.
"What's the matter nee-san?" Yukio asked.
"We can't climb the tree now." I frowned.
"That's okay. We're always up in the tree anyway." He said.
Usually, I'd be up in the tree with Yukio so no one could see us, but with my leg, I couldn't do that. Sighing, I leaned my crutches against the tree and sat down next to where Yukio had flopped himself. I giggled a bit at Yukio. He always acted so serious but in reality he's a bit silly sometimes.
I leaned against the bark and I opened my pack, revealing two bento boxes filled with the noodles and teriyaki chicken I'd packed the night before. I handed Yukio his lunch and using my chopsticks I ate silently, scanning the crowd to see if anyone was being targeted by the regular delinquents or bullies.
Nobody seemed to be 'under attack'. That was good, because in all honesty I didn't feel like using my crutches more then I had to. While scanning the crowd, I hadn't noticed any people coming over to my regular spot until they sat right next to me. When I did notice, I jumped slightly, having not realized they were there until that moment. Guess who it was again? Yep, it was Ryuji, but this time he'd brought over the chattering pair Shima and Konekomaru, along with Shiemi and a two girls I didn't recognize.
"Hello?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Why were they all here?
"Oh hi everybody, what brings you here?" Yukio suddenly said.
I raised an eyebrow.
"You know these people?" I asked, turning to him.
He simply nodded.
"Yeah, we're his friends. Who are you, his girlfriend?" The red eyed girl rudely stated.
Me and Yukio looked at each other in disgust. In unison, we both shouted "EW NO GROSS THAT'S INCEST!". We both scooted away from each other as if the other was excreting a dangerous gas or....farting bullets. Something ridiculous!
"Incest?" The girl raised a tiny eyebrow.
"Yeah polka-brows." I said, looking at her like she was crazy.
"Oh yeah, I haven't told you yet have I? Meet my twin sister. Rin, say hi." Yukio said, pointing at me.
Polka-brows as I appropriately dubbed her burst into uproarious laughter and the other girl just stared at me, silent scrutinizing me before seeming to nod in approval.
"HAHAHAHAHA YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING! YOU SAID YOUR SISTER GOT INTO FIGHTS ALL THE TIME, HA SHE LOOKS LIKE A WIMP AHAHHAHA!" The girl shrieked.
My brows twitched. Me, weak?! Yukio seemed to sense my intentions and I saw him visibly pale.
"Nee-san don't do i-!"
Ignoring the pain in my leg, I stood up and punched the girl in the gut and kicked out her legs, towering over her. I smiled, my eye twitching.
"Believe him now?" I slowly said.
She nodded, staring at me in horrified awe.
I smiled sweetly and helped her up, patting her on the back. I went and returned to my previous spot, and noticed everyone was staring at me.
"What?" I asked, raising a delicate eyebrow.
"Nothing, nee-san, don't worry about it." Yukio said, patting my head.
I just gave him a questioning look, but he ignored me. I just shook my head and resumed eating, keeping a close eye on each of the people surrounding me. Here's what I concluded after putting my observational skills to work.

Childhood friend of Izumo
Has a calm persona-
"Hey, you've been kind of quiet, what'cha been thinking about?" A voice suddenly spoke right near her ear.
To my utter embarrassment, I gasped and jumped about a foot in the air, ending up throwing my empty bento box.
"Whoa! Sorry, did I scare you?" Ryuji asked, eyes wide.
"Wow, that's pretty impressive, Congrats! You're one of the few people to ever scare her." Yukio said, looking mildly impressed.
I punched him on the shoulder (out of impulse).
"Ow! What was that for?!" He whined, rubbing his arm.
"Because you're a jerk!" I retorted.
"Why am I a jerk?!" He shouted.
"I don't know! But you're still a jerk!" I exclaimed.
"I can see she's still a feisty baby." I heard Ryuji mutter.
"Feisty baby...?" Shima wondered out loud.
"WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THAT!" I shouted, whipping my head around and pointing at Ryuji.
"I'm sorry, but 'Feisty baby'? What's that about?" Konekomaru questioned, tilting his head.
"Yeah, what he said." Shima agreed.
Ryuji went to start talking, but I gave him the glare that says "Do it and die."
"I can't tell you, or I might die." Ryuji said, throwing me a wary look.
I simply put two fingers in front of my eyes and trained those fingers back to him. I squinted, the silent message being "I'm watching you..."
"Okay, now I'm going to be really curious all day, great." Izumo grumbled from somewhere behind me.
I just rolled my eyes.
I crawled over to Yukio and sat between him and Ryuji. Yukio was busy chatting with Shiemi, so he didn't notice me. I watched their exchange and unconsciously smiled. 'These two are so in love...' I thought to myself.
"What are you smiling about?" Ryuji whispered.
"See these two? As I commonly yell while reading romance manga, just kiss already!"
"Ha, since you told me they liked each other, I've realized how obvious it was."
"I noticed since the first day she came to my house. I was very tempted to walk up to the two and just smash their heads together. I'm still debating on whether or not to do that right now, actually."
"I wouldn't blame you if you did." Ryuji chuckled.
"Ha, me neither, considering I've known it since the beginning." I muttered.
"So, about what happened that night, where will we meet?" Ryuji whispered.
"Um, the rooftop?" I suggested.
"Isn't that place off-limits for students?" He questioned.
"They don't seem to care when I go up there." I shrugged
"Alright, rooftop it is." He agreed.
"What are you two talking about?" Izumo suddenly asked with an accusing tone.
"Nothing important Polkabrows. Why are you asking anyway?"
"Just curious, jesus, calm down. Anyway, me and Paku were planning to have a karaoke night on friday night. We got everyone else on board, are you two in?" She drawled.
"Sure, why not? I have nothing better to do. What about you?" I agreed, then turned to Ryuji.
"Sounds good. Where will we be going?" He asked.
"Alright. I'm in."
With those words, Izumo nodded and resumed her previous position next to Paku. I sat there a moment, and suddenly, a thought occurred to me. 'You know, this is the first time I've ever had friends...'
"Really?" Ryuji asked, sounding shocked.
I blushed. I hadn't realized I'd said that out loud.
"Y-Yes..." I trailed off, looking down.
"Wow, I find that hard to believe. Who wouldn't want to be friends with you?"
If possible I blushed even harder.
"Everyone, apparently." I barely whispered.
"Wow, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore. Everyone is an asshole."
Then, the bell rang, signalling lunch was over. I sighed and picked up my things.
"Back to torture..." I muttered.
I grabbed my crutches and hobbled away.
"See you later Rin!" Shiemi called out.
"Later!" Shima and Konekomaru called out.
"Bye." Izumo simply said.
"Have a good day Nee-san!" Yukio yelled.
I knew exactly who said that last one.
I smiled and shook my head. I turned around.
And I made my way to class.
That was the day of the beginning of great friendships.
yeah friendships yeah yeah alright I'm so sure of that ;)
