The Vision's Theft

Damon and Bonnie 15

Damon parked the car in the hospital lot and looked over at Bonnie in the passenger seat. "Today is the day," said Damon nervously.

"I don't want to go in," pleaded Bonnie rubbing her belly.

"We talked about this Hun. This is the only way will know for sure."

"What if you're right? What if this is some demon?"

"Then will kill the doctor and start this day over," said Damon getting out of the car and walking around to open the passenger side door for her.

"Wait, why would we kill the doctor? And when I say we I mean you," said Bonnie grabbing onto his arm for support. She was only 16 weeks along, but she already felt as big as a house.

"If it is a demon. It probably shouldn't be something the doctor knows about. So will wipe her memory by killing her."

Bonnie lowered her eyes at him he said that so casually. I guess this leopard will never truly change it's spot. "Fine, Damon, but you are so lucky they come back the next day."

He smirked at her comment. Maybe he did miss the adrenaline rush sometimes. "You know I actually think this appointment will turn out fine."

She pushed the revolving doors and entered the lobby, "Why the change of heart? Don't think I haven't noticed that you've read the books and gone to the classes, but your hearts not in it."

"I didnt want to fall in love with a baby i could lose," said Damon honestly. "So today you're not the only one hoping for good news." He walked up to the reception desk not wanting Bonnie to dwell on his mixed feelings for too long. "We have an appointment today under Benette."

The nurse typed the name into her computer, "Yes, this way?" She lead them away to an observation room. "The doctor will be with you in a moment. You can change into this." She said handing Bonnie a hospital gown.

"Thank you," smiled Bonnie. She changed out of her pink maxi dress and jean jacket into the gown. Damon tied it securely around her neck and waist when the doctor walked in.

"Hi, guys. Today is the big day. You get to find out the baby's gender and hear the heart beat," said Dr. Claire.

"Hi," said Bonnie leaning back on the bed. She searched high and low for a doctor that in Damon's opinion wasn't weird. Dr. Claire was the only robot that seemed to pass Damon's little test. At the time it would grate on her nerves that he had to call everyone they met a robot.

"Well, let's get to it then. i know you too must be anxious," said the doctor picking up the conductor gel.

"You can say that again," commented Damon standing by the bed holding Bonnie's hand.

"Okay, this is going to be cold," said the doctor rubbing the gel over Bonnie's stomach. She picked up the probe and rubbed it over the gel. "Everything is looking good." She turned the screen so they could see it as well.

"Looking good as in it has all 10 fingers and then toes and it's not a demon," replied Damon.

"Ummmm. . .yes. You have a healthy baby. And Here is the heartbeat," she said flicking a switch on the ultrasound machine.

"Oh my god, do you hear that it's normal," said Damon clapping his hands and jumping up and down. "Yes, yes, yes."

"He's excited to be a dad," explained Bonnie laughing at his antics.

"Do you both want to know the gender?" asked the doctor who was happy for the couple.

"I don't know, do we?" asked Damon grabbing Bonnie's hand.

"I think it would be great if it was a surprise."

Damon leaned his forehead against hers, "Surprise it is then."

"I'll just leave you two to get dressed. Be sure to set up your next appointment at the front desk," the doctor eased out of the room fee ling like she was the one interrupting an intimate moment.

"I'm so sorry for ever doubting our baby," replied Damon.

"No I understand. It could've been a two headed bog beast for all we knew," laughed Bonnie.

"I'm going to make this up. What can I do?" asked Damon.

Bonnie kissed him gently on his cheek, "You can start by not hovering. Secondly, listen to the doctor and go make the next appointment for us."

"You got it," he said kissing her deeply before walking out. He headed for the nurses station a big smile on his face. "I need to make another appointment for two weeks for Benette."

"Give me two minutes I seemed to have run out of appointment cards," said the nurse getting up to leave.

Damon turned around and leaned casually against the counter. "Stefan?" he said standing up straight as soon as he saw the apparition appear.

"Here's your appointment information," said the nurse tapping him on the shoulder.

"Thanks. Did you see a man standing over there a few minutes ago?" asked Damon looking back.

"Sorry, no one just you," shrugged the nurse going back to her computer.

"Ready?" asked Bonnie coming up next to him.

"What's the matter?" she asked grabbing his hand.

"Nothing, I guess I just had a slight headache."

"Come on, let's go home so I can take care of you," teased Bonnie.

"Promise," smiled Damon pushing the revolving doors out to exit. She was going to be surprised to see the present he had waiting for her at home.

"I can't believe you talked me into watching this cartoon," said Damon pouring the popped popcorn into a bowl.

"Only because it reminds me of you," said Bonnie picking up the DVD and pushing it into Damon's hand.

"Let me guess in Beauty and the Beast. I'm the beast," laughed Damon grabbing the pop from the fridge. "I'm going to go put it on." He walked into the living room and put the pop on the table. "Bonnie, bring the popcorn with you." He looked up to see Stefan standing in front of him once again. "Why am I seeing you everywhere?" He watched as Stefan disappeared again into a pile of smoke. He put it out of his mind. He wasn't going to let Stefan ruin his moment with Bonnie. He put in the DVD and pressed play.

"You put in the movie?" asked Bonnie coming up to sit beside him on the couch.

"Yeah," he said a huge grin on his face. "You're starting to waddle a little bit I'll be calling you duck instead of bunny soon."

"Don't you dare," she said placing the popcorn on the table. "This isn't the movie."

"It's the previews, sssh just watch."

"Since, when do you watch the previews. Fast forward," she said grabbing the remote.

"Don't you dare!" he said wrestling it from her her.

She laughed and stopped as soon as she saw her face flash across the screen. "What is this?"

"It's something I made for you. Just watch it okay."

She smiled and caressed the side of his face. "Uh, I was so relieved to see you in those woods."

"Yeah, for a minute there I thought I was alone," said Damon watching her face. "You did look great in those cheer leading shorts. whatever happened to that?"

"I was only doing that because Mason begged me too."

"Go figure."

"I could've done without the Elena reminder," said Bonnie.

"Sorry about that bit, but it is how we started."

"Oh my god, I can't believe you included video of your drinking. you look like such a lush," said Bonnie laughing.

"I drank to drown my problems. My problems were good swimmers," Damon laughed.

"So cringe worthy. Kinda regret Mason swooping in to come save me."

"My favorite part," said Damon rubbing Bonnie's stomach lightly.

"When i called you."

"Yeah, When I knew you cared. Is that your sexy face?" he asked teasingly pointing at the screen.

"Thats not my sexy face," she said hitting him playfully with a throw pillow.

"Oh, that's your judgey face right there."

She rolled her eyes," and grabbed a handful of popcorn.

"Look at that beautiful smile there," he said watching as she laughed at one of his jokes on screen. "I think i'd want to see that smile everyday for the rest of my life. So will you marry me?" he said pulling a ring box out of his pocket and getting down on one knee.

"Damon," she muttered shocked.

"Just say yes, Bon-Bon. I want you and I want this baby. I want our life together. I planned this even before we knew about the baby because the results didn't matter."

"Really?" she asked cocking her head to the side.

"Yes. . .Yes," she said kissing him excitedly on his lips.
