Chapter 1: Extinction I

Captain Mozar stared down at the display screen, unable to look away although he dearly wanted to. It was happening. Actually happening. Despite all the predictions and preparations, it hadn't seemed real until this moment. His sun was going super nova and engulfing his homeworld in its dying blast.

Even if he and all his people were safely away in the armada, it still felt as though all was lost. They couldn't live like this indefinitely. They would run out of food, water and air in time. Fleeing was only the first part of the solution.

"Sir?" He finally tore his eyes away from the screen to glare at his aide. At almost nine feet tall, Zog was short. His garish orange flesh contrasted poorly with his blue uniform and war paint. He was certain that the boy had to be a relative of someone important who had forced him into the position to assuage family pride. He was absolutely useless and Mozar was stuck with him.

"You had better have some good news." Zog's horns swung around as he bobbled his head nervously.

"I have the report from the scientists." He held out an electronic tablet and Mozar snatched it from his grasp. Ahh. So they'd finally found a suitable planet. It looked like the atmosphere would require some adjustment to be breathable but otherwise it had everything they needed. Once the current inhabitants were disposed of.

"Tell the engineers to prepare the hyper-drive. It's time to see our new home."

hypaalicious: This story follows two main characters, Zoey and Derek, on a winding adventure that sucks you in from the beginning. It was easy to get into and get a feel for the world that the author is projecting, as well as all of the warring factions and difference of ideals that would otherwise be very co...

John Smith: This is what Sci Fi is all about. Reads like early Heinlein. In the style of Space Cadets. No esoteric problems..but good ol blaster and space action with a host of relatable characters

Mark-Mikkel: Got directed here by the author herself. Started reading it, schoolday turned into a day of reading. I really like the apocaliptic world she has created. There are some oddities in the writing tho, but I guess they are because she did have to do it for NaNo (which she wrecked, good job!). In the ...

internathunal: I was held captive by your sense of style. I would love to see more from you. I enjoyed this immensely.

CookieMonster911: The story overall was an adventure that is appealing to any age. The way the characters develop adds a more human characteristic to the novel. The writing style itself is amazing because you can learn every character's thoughts and emotions. The awkward love triangle and jerk moments adds to the ...

263Adder: Okay so I adore this story. I only knocked one star off plot for historical inaccuracies because I'm a bit of a stickler for that. The ending broke my heart though, considering you already changed history couldn't you (SPOILER) change it a bit more and have them together!!!! I want an alternative...

Raymond Keith Moon: Great story arc. Nice command of the balance of overview and detail. Feels a bit like a multi-player computer game, but provides satisfying explanations for all the apparent magic. Please keep writing!

RiverSong: So, at first glance, I thought this was just going to be like any other werewolf book out there that you could find on Wattpad, but I was intrigued enough with the little bloop that I wanted to read more. Following that weird thing that I call curiosity, I found this thing called an obsession. Th...

FateFellShort: I have read this story and have followed the writers on tumblr from the beginning. Its a wonderful story. Beautifully written with a really nice pace, that makes it enjoyable to read more than once. For me, fairy tail has very good characters but what the writers have done is give them more depth...

Warchief: The biggest problem with the Harry Potter series is that it's all from his point of view. So we never really get to see or understand events from other peoples perspective. I think that they would be more than a few people that want to know what happened at Hogwarts during that last year.As far a...

Ben Gauger: Kudos to Bryan Laesch, author of Remnants of Chaos:Chaotic Omens for his use of the Gothic style of writing and in addition the footnotes and endnotes at the end of each chapter, a welcome accompaniment to be sure, though his use of grammar could use a little improving, but his use of punctuation...

Jean Tryon: As a beta, I found this story outstanding!! Plot, grammar, phraseology, etc Rachel gives us it all. She takes the story into the future from where due South ends. She is an exacting and thoughtful author.

Ravenhawk: Kim I was sure I wrote this before. But since both my computer and my internet connection has been futzing around so much, I'm surprised that I'm able to write this even now. basically you know I adore this story, I've told you as much before. I cannot fault it in any way at all, except that I wa...
