Love or Tradition

Drama / Romance

Prologue

In a city called Chicago, there was a society separated into five different kingdoms with five different personalities and values. The kingdoms were called Dauntless, Erudite, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity and each kingdom took part to help out the other kingdoms. Erudite valued knowledge and they housed the doctors and scientists of the society. Amity valued kindness and peace and they were the farmers that grew all of the food for all the kingdoms. Candor valued honesty and they were the lawyers and judges, handling all the cases that came within the five kingdoms. Dauntless valued bravery and they were the soldiers, protecting all of the kingdoms and without them, the rest of the kingdoms would be taken over. Abnegation valued selflessness and they were the merchants of the society, helping others receive what they needed.

Even though there was a king and queen in the kingdoms, there were also council members. The council was considered the right hand of the rulers, in case something happened to the royal family, then they would take over the kingdom until a prince or princess from another kingdom married the members' son or daughter. They weren't as important as the king or queen but they were treated with respect as they were considered 'high society.' There were four members in the council and they gave their opinions to the king and queen but the royals were the only ones that made the final decision.

Each kingdom had its own rules and guidelines that the other kingdoms had to follow but all the kingdoms had one rule that they all followed. The princes and princesses of each kingdom had to marry another prince or princess from another kingdom, to keep the peace. When the princes and princesses reached the age of 18, they had to marry the person the leaders chose for them.

Also, in the kingdoms, if the king or queen had more than one child, the eldest son got to take over the kingdom. When a prince or princess married another prince or princess, the woman would have to live with the man in his kingdom. The only way the princess got to stay in her kingdom was if she was the only child.

Everyone was at peace and they all knew their roles in life. Well, everyone except for me. My name is Beatrice Prior and this is my story on how I broke tradition to marry for love.

bhodges11: I like the concept of the story, but there were things that I felt could use more detail. I like the back stories created, but was left wanting more from parts of the story. Giuliana Cassetta: My face is full of tears, I never cried like now with a book or even a movie. I loved every single chapter. I truly don't know what to say, I'm out of words and my eyes hurt from crying. Such an bittersweet story, it's so wonderful. One of my favorites for sure. Keep it up!

the unedited writer: It's a guilty pleasure. The characters are brought to life and you find yourself loving them worrying for them and so on. The plot was serious but at the same time it had a light tone that didn't make you depressed as other drama genres. 5 stars for me

serginemuzac: This book had me dieing😂😂😂 It was super lit and I was reading it for the whole day. Its really interesting and I couldnt put my phone down until I finished all 22 chapters! Even though the grammer was a bit off (I actually enjoyed it, it made everything funnier) I really liked it.

A.O. Chika: I loved the storyline. The characters, the settings, and the overall plot was great. I love how it started sweet in the beginning and then the angst set in.
