NaLu Holiday One-Shot/Songfic

A/N: Wazzup mai Roses! Kyara here with a one-shot idea I recently had for Fairy Tail. As it says in the title, this is a High School Reunion AU with couples like NaLu, GaLe, Gruvia, Miraxus, Jerza, and others, but this will focus around NaLu. Credit to Metallica for the main song, credit to all the songwriters for any holiday songs mentioned, and credit to Hiro Mashima for making Fairy Tail the best anime ever! Also! Sorry if Natsu seems way too OOC! I tried to make him as much like the anime Natsu as I could, but I think I failed... ;-; Anyways, enjoi the story mai Roses! ouo Have a cookie: (::)

Natsu's POV

I smile and, with an arm wrapped around my beautiful girlfriend,  Lucy Heartfillia, walk into the gymnasium of Fairy Tail High School for the Class of '10 (2010) Christmas-themed 5 year reunion. Lucy immediately spots her best friend, Levy McGarden, and grins, wiggling out from under my arm and running to the bluenette, squealing and hugging her tightly. I feel the smile on my face widen when I spot some of my own best friends; Gray Fullbuster (though I'd never publicly admit to us being best friends), Laxus Dreyar, and my cousin Gajeel Redfox. Giving the group a wave, I walk to the food bar, grinning at the sight of all the food that was laid out. I try my best not to pig out, due to my promise to Lucy to try and not ruin my suit (which she forced me to wear), and slowly eat a chicken leg, leaning against the table and watching the reunion. I spot Cana Alberona next to, of course, the alcohol with her drinking buddy and boyfriend Bacchus Groh, the pair obviously in the middle of a heavy drinking contest, Erza Scarlet and her boyfriend Jellal Fernandes, Juvia Lockster standing next to Gray with a loving smile on her face as she clings to her boyfriend's arm, and, to my surprise, my other cousin Wendy Marvell and Romeo Conbolt chatting it up with smiles on their faces. Wendy and Romeo had only graduated last year, so when I see the two, I get curious as to why they're here. Walking over to the pair, I also spot Principal Makarov, who we all call Gramps, near the alcohol as well, trying to join in Bacchus' and Cana's drinking contest. Smiling, I gently tap Romeo's shoulder, catching his attention. He turns and, once he sees me, grins and hugs me tightly, Wendy joining the hug as well.

"Hey you two! What are you doing here?" I ask with a grin, ruffling Romeo's hair. Wendy smiles.

"Romeo invited me to come to the reunion because he wanted to see everyone again, especially you and me." she says in her soft voice, that same slightly timid smile on her face. I grin and turn my head to look at Romeo.

"You know you're always welcome at my house, Romeo! You and your dad!" I say. Romeo nods.

"We haven't really had time to. We've been busy trying to get me a job here at Fairy High." he replies with a grin. I grin as well.

"Good for you, Romeo! What about you, Wendy?" I ask the bluenette, who smiles as well.

"I'm also trying to get a job here!" she says. My grin widens as I hug them tightly.

"Good for the both of you!" I say happily. Suddenly, the DJ, Kyle Ignus (A/N: A totally legit Fairy Tail character ;)), stops the music and walks up to a microphone on the stage the DJ booth is situated on. Said DJ grins and starts speaking into the mike.

"What up, Class of '10?!" he asks loudly, everyone in the gym cheering loudly and raising red Solo cups in the air. "Hope your holidays are as awesome as your reunion party is! Thanks to Gramps for organizing this! Here's some holiday music for ya to sing along to!" he shouts as he walks back behind the DJ booth as merry holiday music starts playing. I grin and start singing along.

Dashing through the snow

In a one-horse open sleigh!

O'er the fields we go,

Laughing all the way!

I notice many of the others singing along, especially the drunk Cana, Bacchus, and Gramps, who are singing as loud as they can, their cheeks stained red from the amount of alcohol they probably consumed.

Bells on bobtails ring

Making spirits bright.

What fun it is to laugh and sing

A sleighing song tonight!

OH!~

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells

Jingle all the way!

Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh

Hey!

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells

Jingle all the way!

Oh, what fun it is to ride in a

Sleigh

HEY!

I laugh and clap with everyone else, thinking about something that has been on my mind for a while; when should I propose to Lucy? An idea comes into my head and a grin comes to my face.

"Wendy! Romeo! I have to do something real quick! See ya later!" I say to the two teenagers as I run towards the stage, a wide grin on my face. Once I get to the raised platform, I wave at the DJ, catching his attention. He lets the next song play as he walks towards me, leaning down so he can hear me.

"What's up, Natsu?" he asks. I smile and whisper my idea into his ear, a grin coming to Kyle's face as he nods. "I can do that. You can go up after this song." the brunette says with a knowing smile. I smile back.

"Thanks, man." I say as I walk quickly towards the coats, where I left a guitar in case I wanted to play a song for everyone. I grab the acoustic and walk back to the stage right as the last note of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer plays. I smile and nod to Kyle, who smiles and nods back as he walks back up to the mike.

"We have a special performance for all of ya today! Here's our favorite pyromaniac, Natsu Dragneel!" he says into the microphone with a grin, waving me onto the stage as everyone cheers, including Lucy. I grin and wave to them all as a stool is placed in front of the mike, which I sit on and place my guitar on my leg. I grin and start speaking into the mike.

"Wassup Class of '10?! I've got a special song to play for ya! This song is for all the couples here tonight, as well as for my beautiful girlfriend." I say with a smile as I start gently strumming the guitar to the tune of Nothing Else Matters. A lot of peoples' eyes widen when the familiar tune plays through the speakers. I close my eyes and quietly listen to each note, Kyle pulling out another guitar for later in the song. As soon as the part for the words comes, I start singing, my voice ringing out into the silent gym.

So close, no matter how far.

Couldn't be much more from the heart.

Forever trust in who we are.

And nothing else matters.

I open my eyes and see many of the couples in the audience smiling at each other and swaying gently to the music. I smile at Lucy, who has a huge grin on her face as she walks towards the stage.

I never opened my self this way.

Life is ours, we live it our way.

Hold these words I don't just say.

And nothing else matters.

Lucy walks onto the stage and, after putting a stool next to me, leans towards the mike and sings along.

Trust I seek, and I find in you.

Every day for a something new.

Open mind for a different view.

And nothing else matters!~

Never cared for what they do!~

Never cared for what they know!~

But I know!

I smile at Lucy, who smiles back, and quickly peck her cheek, still playing the tune. She blushes slightly, but continues to smile. As soon as the singing part starts, our voices mix perfectly as we sing.

So close, no matter how far.

Couldn't be much more from the heart!~

Forever trust in who we are.

And nothing else matters.

Never cared for what they do!~

Never cared for what they know!~

But I know!

Many of the couples start to dance, smiles on all of their faces, even Erza! The mighty Erza Scarlet, smiling and slow dancing with Jellal! I never thought I'd live to see the day! I smile lovingly at Lucy, who smiles back, completely unaware of what was to come.

I never opened my self this way.

Life is ours, we live it our way!~

Hold these words I don't just say!

And nothing else matters!~

Trust I seek, and I find in you.

Every day for a something new!

Open mind for a different view.

And nothing else matters!!~

Never cared for what they say!~

Never cared for games they play!~

Never cared for what they do!~

Never cared for what they know!~

And I know!!~

I grin and nod to Kyle, who starts playing the electric guitar and manages to catch my acoustic guitar when I toss it to him, taking Lucy's hand and standing her up. I smile and start dancing with her, my jacket flying through the air, a distinct lump in the pocket. Lucy grins and laughs as we dance. As the music slows down, I grab the mike and hold it between us, finishing the song.

So close, no matter how far.

Couldn't be much more from the heart.

Forever trust in who we are.

No, nothing else matters.

As the song finishes, I pull out a small black velvet box from my jacket pocket, put the mike back, get down on one knee in front of the love of my life, and open the box to reveal a stunning chocolate diamond ring, the same chocolatey brown as her eyes. I smile at the shocked blonde in front of me, saying the words I've been practicing in my mind for weeks until I actually worked up the courage to do it, the whole gym deathly silent from shock.

"Lucy... you're the love of my life, my heart's desire, my everything. I couldn't see my life now without you being a part of it. So, will you make me the happiest man on Earth and become Mrs. Lucy Dragneel?" I ask, hope shining in my eyes. Lucy's hand curls around her mouth, tears in her eyes as she slowly smiles. She throws her arms around me, crying softly and nodding vigorously.

"Yes, you lovable idiot, yes!" she says happily, a huge grin on her face and tears streaming down her face. I grin and take the diamond ring from the box, sliding it onto her wedding ring finger and planting a kiss on her lips in happiness. The entire gym erupts into applause and cheers as I pull away from my fiancée, grinning from ear to ear. I hear someone, most likely Gray, shout 'ABOUT TIME, FLAME BRAIN!!!', everyone laughing as they continue to clap. Lucy smiles and hugs me, a large smile coming to my face as I hug her back. I'm the luckiest man in the world... I think as I hug my future bride tightly.

"Merry Christmas, Luce..." I whisper.
