Chapter 1

Life After Scranton

Chapter 1

There once was a man named Michael Scott, a loving character from Scranton, Pennsylvania. He had had many relationships with many women, but one, he truly loved, by the name of Holly Flax. Holly replaced the dreaded Toby Flenderson in the human resources department of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company - Scranton Branch, which Michael was the regional manager of. They found love in the small Pennsylvania town, and eventually they decided to take their love to the cold state of Colorado, mostly for the obligation Holly had to take care of her old parents. They finally left Scranton behind, as this was a sad moment for Dwight, Jim, Pam, and even some like Stanley, just kidding, Stanley was probably happy there were no more “that's what she said” jokes coming at him, but overall, it was sad for Michael to leave. But Michael’s story doesn’t stop there, as his journey and life in Colorado had just began. Michael and Holly loved the snowy mountains in the centennial state. The weather was arctic. As Michael and Holly were feeling tepid by the cold, they honestly were not enjoying taking care of Holly’s parents. They were a massive pain to Michael, as he once told Holly that her parents were like old horses, who sit around, eat food, and don’t run anymore. He told Holly one day that “we should get rid of them.” Holly responded, “Michael! These are my parents!” Michael jokingly backlashed, “Your father tried to put his Vietnam shank in my head, Holly, he’s insane!” “I’m not considering it, Michael,” Holly responded as she walked away. Michael decided that he needed to take a break from helping Holly and working at the Colorado national paper products company and he decided one day, without Holly’s permission, to go skiing in which he later broke his neck, and fractured his gluteus maximus. Michael was then sent to the Colorado general hospital, rather than a typical ice pack and couch healing, in which he was taken care of. He simply reposed, for months. Through many hospital visits and George Foreman grill cookouts in the hospital bed, Michael got through it and Holly was there by his side, but for very little of the time. Michael was bereft of Holly, from her absence at the hospital during his heartache. A single lady by the name of Jackie was Michael’s nurse during this excruciating period of his life and helped him almost every step of the way. Holly’s parents still needed to be taken care of, so Michael got lonely at the hospital and he fell in love with Jackie, the angel sent from above. Michael had told Holly many times that Jackie was, “a benevolent women, who had genuine kindness and care.” But Holly had been getting suspicious of Jackie throughout her experience of visitation at the hospital during Michael’s recovery process. One night in late February, Holly had come to deliver Michael some Applebee’s, which was the best panacea at the time for him, and talk about when he was going to depart from the hospital, but she arrived to an inopportune site, involving Jackie and Michael, even though the hospital room windows weren’t shut. Holly never saw anything too frisky, but “this could be a good time to mess with Michael,” she thought in her head. Michael never saw Holly see them that night at the hospital, but she left hurriedly, as she had wanted to get started on her prank to cheer Michael up from being injured. She ended up leaving Michael a voicemail, “Hey Michael, the hospital said you’re supposed to check out of the hospital tomorrow, so make sure you check out, I will not be able to bring you home.” Michael checked out the next day, and he got Jackie to drive him home in her Toyota Prius, limited edition. He was finally back home, “home sweet home,” he said aloud as he approached the front door. Jackie said her goodbyes and drove off as he walked inside his house. Michael quickly realized when he walked inside, everything was quiet, “Holly?” The response was silent. Michael gaped and then looked down sadly to see all of Holly’s suitcases packed.

 Chapter 2

Michael didn’t know what was going on, he was having an epiphany. He picked up his phone and started to dial Holly’s phone number. He found himself listening to her voicemail, until she picked up, “Michael,” she said. “Holly, oh my gosh, why are your bags packed?” “Michael, I think we should take a break,” Holly responded, “Why,” Michael said frustratedly. “I saw you with Jackie, Michael.” There was a pause during the conversation. Michael then said, “... when,” “I saw you there last week,” Holly said in a solemn voice. Michael responded, “Oh yeah, I had wondered why I never got my burger from Applebee’s.” Holly then hung up. Michael then screamed profane words. Michael was as angry as a bull being shown a red cloth. He was now alone. Michael’s face was grey and pale with depression. Michael decided that the best way to handle this situation was with pizza, which was heaven. Michael had ordered the pizza and waited excitedly. Holly usually didn’t let Michael eat terrible food unless he was hurt or sick. The pizza came and Michael paid the delivery man and finally, the pizza was eaten by Michael. Ever since Michael was a kid, eating was his favorite thing to do, along with playing rugby and getting in fights at the Improv club. His stomach was a full blimp. He had never been more pleased by a food experience in his life. Michael had just taken a exceptional bubble bath, when he heard a knock on the door. He thought outloud, could this be Holly? At the time of the breakup, Michael knew it was Tuesday, but now he didn’t even know how many days had past since Holly left. After another nap, Michael ate some leftover pizza. After another nap, Michael played Pac Man for three hours. After another nap, he screamed at the wall for thirty minutes. After another nap, he heard a ring from the doorbell. He peeked around the corner, like smeagol, and saw the inky figures’ shadows that stood out from the sunlight. He walked towards the door, he saw familiar faces through the glass of the door, and then he opened the door. When he opened the door he saw old friends. He had seen Jim and Pam, Dwight and Angela, and Stanley and Kevin. Michael could not comprehend his feelings at that moment, his friends had come to offer comfort and care during one of the hardest moments of his life during that period of time. Dwight ran inside, hugged Michael profusely, and yelled, “Michael!” Not knowing what to say, Michael responded, “Ahh, Dwight.” Dwight got more serious and asked, “How are you doing?” “Some days are better than others, but it is very rough for me right now. Also, it’s not the time for a ‘that’s what she said joke, Dwight and Kevin, so cool it.” Michael said in a pale, and humorous voice. Kevin uttered, “Rats!” under his voice. His friends were worried and upset for Michael. They wanted to know what happened and why Holly decided to leave. Michael discussed with his former office-mates and then they said their goodbyes and left Michael alone, again. Michael decided to pick up the phone and call Holly, but there was no answer. Michael woke up the next morning, whenever he woke up, he would look at his phone, but it looked like a mailbox that had not been checked in weeks, full of unread messages. Michael then realized, it was March 15th. It was Michael’s birthday on that day that he woke up. Michael proceeded to do the usual routine, but when he had walked down stairs he heard something in the kitchen. Edging closer and closer, he heard more movement. He thought outloud, “Not today, God, please not today,” “I don’t want to die!” But as he finally had walked into the kitchen he saw Holly, Stanley, Kevin, Dwight, Angela, Jim, and Pam all in front of a huge birthday cake, which said, ‘Happy 50th, Michael!’ “Holly,” Not expecting this, Michael said, “you actually showed up.” “Yes, Michael, I was playing with you the whole time,” Holly responded. Michael then ran up and hugged her and said, “Let’s party!” Michael Scott’s story is one of passion and love for many women, but Holly was again, his favorite. He knew that she would never leave him, but those days and months filled with sleeping and heavenly pizza were hard without her. The prank done by Holly had worked and they’ve been back together ever since that birthday surprise Michael experienced eight months ago. Michael was just happy at that moment for all of his friends and loved ones being with him, even though he was still upset about the prank. Holly never actually found out about Jackie and Michael during that two month period, but Holly and Michael went on to live a good life, as Michael did not see Jackie after that moment when she had dropped him off…

ernbelle: When I first started this story I was a little unsettled by all of the information that appears in the prologue, and wasn't sure if I would continue. However, I am very glad I did. LouiseJ2: I enjoyed the detail you went into with regards to the case. It made the UNSUB appear believable. PaulSenkel: If you like Arthur C. Clarke's Odyssey, especially The Final Odyssey, then you will probably also enjoy this book. I definitely did.It does, however, address a more adolescent public than the above-mentioned book.I enjoyed the story and finished it in a few days. The overall situation on earth an...

Rebeccaseal: This was an almost perfect story that I would recommend to anyone. The only thing I would work on is painting a more realistic picture of Haiathiel. Somehow the environment seemed limited, and the land itself a bit unfinished. This can be solved simply by added descriptions to people and places. ...
