In Your Arms

“You are not alone or unloved… You are just misunderstood, misguided and lost… Alois, words could not measure of how much I want to protect you and hold you tight… Not another night will you spend crying alone over the pasts that haunts you because I am here for you. I pray that you do not become like me, as I am merely feigning my innocence and yet you broke that facade. You made me feel and confused me but it also made me honest and through you, my mask is gone.”
Words are ways of how hearts visualize what is felt and Love is a personification of a feeling of something held dearly to the heart.

Rosa could only stare at the blonde boy in front of her as he stay on his knees while desperately sobbing and begging for her forgiveness. She is a poison to everything around herself. Each of her touch could only kill. Her meeting with the boy had changed her a little, as she thought she had thrown all emotions away ever since the thorns of the red rose embed itself, constricting her heart. She had feigned innocence with a beautiful smile to simply fool all around her and she had been alone. She had locked her emotions away and only let a smile be on her pretty face. However, little by little, the boy had shaken her emotionally. He agitated her, embarrassed her, made her angry and worried and worst; he made her cry for him. “Please don’t leave me alone… I’m begging you please don’t leave.” He said as he looks at her with his sky blue eyes. She hesitantly holds a hand out but pulls it back. She knew far too well; she can never touch him. As much as she wishes to embrace him and comfort him, she could never do such thing. “Lord Trancy, Alois, I-I almost killed you… This soul that is embedded within me holds too much hatred for your name as a Trancy… This is really breaking me seeing you like this…” Rosa admitted with her usual smile gone, replaced with a grimace. She could still recall the first time she actually saw him in a different light. She was heading for the kitchen when she heard the young earl screaming a name, “Luka!” Knowing that he might have had a nightmare, she made lemon tea and headed for his room. He was first hostile towards her but soon relaxed as she showed concern for him. It was the beginning of the first change of her dead heart. “I don’t care; I just don’t want to be alone anymore! Please be with me, please love me…” he said in a whisper still sitting in a broken state.

A loud thunder exploded and suddenly the lights went out. The two were left in darkness. Rosa trembles as she hears him sobbing and she could feel him hugging himself in fear. It was the final breaking point for her. It had been too much for her to see the high and prideful noble to be deprived of so many things in his life that he has nothing left to cling on. He had acted the way he is just to have something that he can call as his own for he had nothing. He had lost all faith, all he had once loved were nothing but old memories that he knew he could never have back, everything around him are fake and he is broken like a doll that is abandoned and thrown away. Rosa feel liquids rolling down her face much to her surprise. “Yet again, you have broken my barrier…” she said with a quiet whimper. She slowly walks towards her bed and pulled her blanket, throwing the blanket over the broken boy leaving it to drape over his body as she pulls him into a tight embrace. She allowed herself to be drowned in his golden blonde hair as she feels him pulling her closer with his face buried into her shoulder. She could feel his sobs slowing down and warmth began enveloping them. She knows she could never touch him directly as it would be the death of him. But she also knew that she could never abandon him. She had known loneliness for so long that it became her eternal companion but the young boy whom had lost himself along the way of indulging himself in his make-believe revenge broke her peace. Those blue eyes had shown her so many emotions and confused her to no end but tonight while they are quietly keeping each other warm, she finally saw what others had failed to see in those blue eyes; A helpless little boy.

They lied on the bed while facing each other with an arm distance between them with their hands intertwined. Alois looks at her with a pair of calm blue eyes, much gentler than he had ever showed her. He could not help but to stare at her right face side; the place where her eye should be is hollow but instead a beautiful red rose is blooming out of the socket. Rosa instinctively raises her hand there as if to cover it but he quickly holds her hand. “Please don’t stare at it… I am a monster and I am aware of that…” she said warily. She became flustered of her strange feature as it reminds her of who she must kill. “That’s not it at all… You are really beautiful Rosa and even that part of you is beautiful too.” He said while kissing and nuzzling her gloved hands. It was the only part of her that she could give him. She wants to hold him tightly and kiss him softly and tell him that she would never leave him. She wants him to know that he will not be alone but nothing as such could happen for it would only kill him. “You are not alone or unloved… You are just misunderstood, misguided and lost… Alois, words could not measure of how much I want to protect you and hold you tight… Not another night will you spend crying alone over the past that haunts you because I am here for you. I pray that you do not become like me, as I am merely feigning my innocence and yet you broke that façade. You made me feel and confused me but it also made me honest and through you, my mask is gone.” Alois stares at her with a pair of tired eyes as he listens to her. He could finally have the warmth that he sought after for so long, the light that would shine each time he awake from his nightmare. He found a person to love and she does not wish him sadness or despair. She only wants his honesty. “Rosa you are such a beautiful rose… Please promise that you will still be by my side when I open my eyes tomorrow morning…” he whispered with closed eyes slowly drifting to slumber. “As long as I live, I will never walk too fast or leave you behind. I want to hold hands with you like this and be by your side forever…” with her final words, she finally succumbs to slumber which she usually fears but her fear is now gone for she knows that her side will no longer be empty.

All I wish for is for you to have something to hold on to for as long as you live. For your sake I shall embrace the darkness that trapped you and hold you tightly in my arms. Allow me to be your safe haven, a place for you to feel love and warmth.

Elizabeth Robbins: 4.5 starsAs far as apocalypse stories go, this one took a new direction. I'm glad someone finally addressed the need for a vampire apocalypse! Sandra Estrada: I loved every minute of it and I thank my lucky stars that brought me to the story, it's been a whirlwind of emotions, plot twist after plot twist but I never got tired of them. sunshinebennybear: First, I would like to address the elephant in the room. The author forgets her own character's names. She mixed up Liam for Jace, Harri for Maiya, and Freya for Clary. I love The Mortal Instruments as much as the next fangirl, but I find myself unforgiving about this. Throughout the story there ...

263Adder: Okay so I adore this story. I only knocked one star off plot for historical inaccuracies because I'm a bit of a stickler for that.
