Hoseok had always wanted a mate, but sadly, he wasn’t allowed to leave the pack territory. As the Head Alpha, he wasn’t allowed to wander around to other territories, because that would make him look like a rogue.

As Hoseok walks through the grass in the clearing, he manages to catch a wonderful scent. Something like peaches and cream. He stops. There was someone here that smelt like the most delicious meal in the entire world.

Hoseok continues walking until he could finally feel the presence of another wolf. He stops and looks over the slightly tall grass and sees a tall, thin male. The male, as if feeling his presence, freezes and turns around so quickly that he could’ve been faster than sound.

The boy stares at him and Hoseok didn’t know what to do.

The thin male starts to shake and sweat and soon, Hoseok was hit with an immense wave of pheromones. The scent was so strong that he was almost brought to his knees, just trying to hold back. The boy in front of him seemed to be shaking and shivering.

Hoseok drops his clothes that he was holding in his mouth and soon, shifts, quickly pulling on his clothes before walking to the male. The smaller boy opens his eyes and Hoseok could see the beautiful hazel eyes he possessed.

As if he was in a trance, Hoseok steps in front of the boy and wraps his arms around the boy’s smaller frame. He could feel the boy’s temperature rise as he buried his face in the crook of his neck. He took in the sweet scent as he said the words he was longing to say for so long.

“Mate,” was all Hoseok said before the smaller male passed out in his arms. Hoseok begins to panic as he feels the limp body of his mate in his arms. He had no idea what was happening and what he had to do, so he picked the smaller male up and ran back to the pack healer.

“He’s ok, Alpha. He just needs a bit of rest. His heat seemed to have been triggered by your presence, as he still hasn’t had it yet. If you two do not want to mate, I advise you to stay away from him. If you do, however, want to stay close to him, you can take this tonic. It will help you get close to him and touch him without triggering your rut.” The healer says, handing Hoseok a small bottle.

“But be careful. Once it is taken, you cannot take it again. It can cause you serious damage, and it will only last for an hour or so.” The healer warned and Hoseok nods, grateful for the small bottle in his hand.

As the healer exits the hut, Minhyuk and Hyunwoo walk into the hut, looking worried.

“Where’s Hyungwon?”

Hoseok looks at the two males and couldn’t help but growl, before blinking and realizing what he had done. He blushes and apologizes to Hyunwoo, who just laughs it off.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s just your mate instincts. I was the exact same way when I found Minhyuk.” Hyunwoo says and Hoseok nods, finally understanding.

“He’s inside. I don’t want to go in and cause him more pain. Besides, the Healer said that his heat can trigger my rut and I don’t want to force him into anything.” Hoseok explains and Hyunwoo nods. Minhyuk walks into the room, and as soon as the door opened, the scent hit Hoseok so hard that he almost ran inside.

As the head Alpha, he had extremely good control around omegas in heat as he was exposed to a lot of them. There were many omegas in his pack that were still unmated, but around his mate, it was as if he had lost all control.

“I’m gonna go before I do something I regret. I’ll meet him after his heat is over. Tell him that I’ll try to visit him later on, ok?” Hoseok asks and Hyunwoo nods. Minhyuk had already waltzed inside. Hoseok sighs as he walks away fro Hyungwon hut.

Hyungwon.

Just that name sounded so precious and beautiful. He shakes his head. Oh, what was he thinking? He didn’t even know if the boy wanted him to be his mate, yet here he was, getting his hopes up high.

Hoseok sighs as he walks back to his hut, which was located in the center of their pack ‘village’. His best fighters, Changkyun and Joohen were waiting at his door. The two were mates and Hoseok was happy for the two of them. He knew how much trouble they had gone through just to get to where they were now.

Changkyun was a beta, whereas Jooheon was an Alpha. In their old pack, relations between two guys was absolutely forbidden because the pack had been very religious. It did not matter if the two males were mates, so when Jooheon and Changkyun had found out they were mates, the village had gone hysterical. In their pack, the two wolves who suspected they were mates went to their village shaman and when Jooheon and Changkyun had done that, they were immediately kicked out.

They were rogues wandering in foreign territories, which was like asking to die. Somehow, both of them had managed to survive. They were found by Hoseok, roaming the MX pack borders, looking like they were going to die any second, so without hesitance, Hoseok had taken them in. And that’s how they were here.

“Hoseok hyung!” Joohen grins as he sees their blond-haired saviour. Hoseok offers them a weak smile, making Jooheon immediately drop his smile. He had always looked up to Hoseok, even if he was only a few months older than him and seeing Hoseok sad immediately made him and Changkyun sad. They had grown close to the older male.

“Hyung? What’s wrong?”

Hoseok shakes his head as he sighs and walks inside his hut. He looks at the two males at his door and gives them a tired and weak smile that made him look like he would pass out any moment now.

“I’m sorry, Jooheon, Changkyun. I’m just really tired today. We’ll talk about whatever you need to tell me later, ok?” He asks and Jooheon nods. The two younger males watch as their hyung closes the door and they look at each other.

“I wonder what’s wrong...” Jooheon mumbles and Changkyun grabs his mate’s hand.

“Let’s find Hyunwoo hyung. He’ll know what’s wrong,” Changkyun says and Jooheon immediately brightens up.

“Ok!”

Finding Hyunwoo wasn’t hard. Especially with their sense of smell. He was in the hut of the new wolf he had brought along with him yesterday. Something was off though. It smelt too sweet.

“Hyunwoo hyung do you--”

Jooheon was cut off by Minhyuk shushing him. Jooheon looks at Minhyuk, surprised as to why his second favourite hyung (don’t tell Hyunwoo that) was shushing him. He looks around, trying to find Hyunwoo, and his eyes widen when he sees his hyung beside the new wolf.

Jooheon narrows his eyes, but Changkyun puts his hand on his mate’s shoulder, calming him down.

“Stop it Jooheon. That wolf is an omega. I can sense it, can’t you? And it seems like he’s in heat, which is probably why Hyunwoo hyung is trying to calm him down,” Changkyun says as Jooheon’s eyes widen. He was right. The unfamiliar wolf was indeed an omega.

“Hey, Minnie hyung?” Changkyun calls and the blonde male looks at him.

“Hmm?”

“Why is Hoseok hyung so sad?”

Minhyuk frowned and looked at the younger male.

“He’s sad? Like does he look tired and dead?” Minhyuk asks and when Changkyun and Jooheon nod, his eyes widen in panic as he rushes over to Hyunwoo, making the two younger wolves scared.

“W-what’s wrong Minnie hyung?” Changkyun asks and Minhyuk looks at the two before taking a deep breath.

“Well, Hyungwon met Hoseok, and Hyungwon fainted after meeting Hoseok, and it turns out Hyungwon here started his heat. Hoseok brought him here and left because the healer told him that if he stayed by Hyungwon, it would trigger his rut. But now that you mention that, it seems like he’s going into the rejection phase. I’ve never seen of an Alpha going into a rejection phase, but I’ve heard stories about it, and it doesn’t sound pleasant. Hoseok seems to be trying to lower his level of hope but because of that, he’s unconsciously killing himself. That’s probably also the reason why Hyungwonnie’s so hysterical in his heat. I know it’s his first heat and all, but even a late bloomer’s first heat isn’t this violent. The worst one I’ve heard of is a wolf being in heat for almost a month, but never this serious.” Minhyuk explains and Jooheon frowns, looking at Hyungwon who was laying on the bed, unconscious.

“He seems fine though. And he smells normal too,” Jooheon says and Minhyuk shakes his head.

“First of all, he does not smell fine. His scent is way too sweet and strong for an omega in heat, and second of all, his fever is deadly. I know that omegas get really hot during heats, which is why its called that, but this is just too high. If you touch him, it’s like you’re accidentally burning yourself.” Minhyuk says and motions to Hyunwoo, who was desperately putting cold towels on Hyungwon's forehead every few seconds.

“Both him and Hoseok are suffering, and it’s none of their faults. Hoseok thinks that Hyungwon may not accept him as his mate and Hyungwon’s heat is taking a toll on both of them.” Hyunwoo says as he changes the towel on Hyungwon’s forehead.

“So how do we stop them from..well, killing themselves?” Changkyun asks and Minhyuk looks at Hyunwoo, who nods.

“They have to mate and Hoseok has to knot Hyungwon,” Changkyun’s eyes widen.

“B-But if they do that, Hyungwon may get pregnant. I mean an omega is most fertile during their heats, right?” Jooheon asks for Changkyun and Minhyuk nods.

“It’s either that or have one of them die and kill the other one agonizingly slow,” Hyunwoo says and Changkyun sighs. Sometimes, life just seemed so unfair.

This was a life and death choice, literally, and they were the ones making the plans.

“I’ll go explain to Hoseok hyung what’s happening, and you try to wake Hyungwon hyung up,” Hyunwoo says as he gets up and hands Minhyuk the towels. Jooheon stands up.

“I’ll come too.”

“No, you stay here. He’s going to think it’s more serious when I’m the only one who goes to him. I usually never tell him something unless it’s really serious,” Hyunwoo says and Jooheon nods. Hyunwoo walks out of Hyungwon hut, immediately closing the door and walking towards Hoseok’s hut.

He knocks on the door and it is answered by a ”Go away! I’m too tired to deal with you,“. Hyunwoo sighs and pushes the door open, mentally thanking god when it was unlocked.

“Hoseok? I need to tell you something. It’s about Hyungwon,” and all of a sudden, Hoseok’s up and near the door.

“What is it? Is he alright?”

“Actually no. He isn’t. You’re unconsciously killing both yourself and Hyungwon. You need to come and mate him,” Hyunwoo says, getting straight to the point.

“W-what do you mean?”

“You’re forcing yourself into the rejection phase by trying to lower your hope down so much, and now, it’s affecting Hyungwon ’s heat as well even if you aren’t mated,” Hyunwoo says and Hoseok’s eyes widen.

“S-So how do I fix it?”

“You mate him and knot him. It’s the only way,”

While Hyunwoo was trying to convince Hoseok, Minhyuk, Changkyun and Jooheon were facing an even more difficult problem; waking sleeping beauty up.

“Hyungwonnie? Wake up,” Minhyuk whispers as he gently pushed Hyungwon’s sweaty hair.

The younger whimpers quietly as he begins to stir.

“Hyungwon? I need you to wake up. We have something very important to tell you,” Minhyuk says and this time, the taller male stirs, even more, eventually opening his eyes and groaning loudly in pain. He clutched his stomach and head as tears formed in his eyes.

It felt as if he was being burnt alive while being kicked in the stomach and back.

“Hyungwon. We know you’re in pain, but I know a way to fix it,” Minhyuk says as he changes the towel on Hyungwon's forehead again. Jooheon hands him a glass of water, which he gives to Hyungwon. The younger male drinks it in a single gulp and sighs.

“You need to mate with Hoseok and he needs to knot you. There’s no other way.”

“Y-You mean I found my mate?” Hyungwon asks, eyes wide and when Minhyuk nods, he begins to sob. He had found his mate and he wasn’t awake to see him.

“O-Ok. But I want to meet him. Who is he Minnie hyung?” Hyungwon asks and Minhyuk smiles, changing the wet towel once again.

“His name is Shin Hoseok, but everyone in the pack, excluding us, call him Wonho. He’s the MX pack’s leader, and he’s going through the rejection phase because he thinks you may decline his mating request. He’s an Alpha, yes, but even Alpha’s have their weak points and it just so happens that you are his,” Minhyuk says and Hyungwon sniffles.

“W-What does he look like?”

“Blonde hair and icy blue eyes,” Minhyuk says and Hyungwon gasps.

“That wolf! He’s the one I passed out after seeing! He’s the one who brought me here isn’t he?” Hyungwon asks and when Minhyuk nods, Hyungwon begins to sob even more.

“I wanna see him,”

Minhyuk smiles as he pats Hyungwon’s hair.

“Hyunwoo is bringing him here,”

As soon as Hoseok heard about the ‘cure’ to their condition, he agreed. He was ready for his mate to hate him for taking him forcefully, but he’d rather live with the hate than have his mate die on him.

“Alright. Bring me to him,”

And that’s how Hoseok ended up in front of Hyungwon’s hut. He could smell the omega’s pheromones, driving him crazy. He walks inside and sees his mate sitting on the bed looking pale and frail.

“Hoseok, this is Hyungwon. Hyungwon, this is Hoseok, Head Alpha of the MX pack, and your mate,” Hyunwoo introduces the two to each other and immediately, the two mates look at each other.

When their eyes met, Hoseok growled “Mate,” making Hyungwon whimper in need. He wanted his Alpha and he wanted him now.

“I think you both know what’s going on, so we’ll leave you to it,” Hyunwoo says and before the two could say anything, they were all gone, leaving the hut empty.

Hoseok looks at Hyungwon who was blushing heavily and looking down at his hands.

“I-I’m sorry I’m such a burden. I swear it’s ok if you reject me. I-I’ll be f-” Hoseok laughs and Hyungwon looks at him surprised.

“I’d never reject you. I thought you’d reject me,” Hoseok says and Hyungwon begins to sob even harder.

Hoseok immediately rushes to his omega’s side, sitting down beside him.

“I’m sorry, love,” Hoseok whispers into Hyungwon’s hair, pulling the now sniffling omega closer to him. Hyungwon was sitting on his lap, with his legs around Hoseok’s waist.

“I didn’t want to claim you forcefully but I need to do this if I want to save you and myself. I’d rather have you hate me than die,” the older of the two whispers and the younger looks at him, his eyes red and swollen, breaking Hoseok’s heart even more. Even in a situation like this, Hyungwon’s pheromones were still strong and Hoseok felt his pants tighten.

“I’d never hate you. In fact, I want you,” Hyungwon says, letting out more pheromones.

Smelling an omega’s pheromones was enough to trigger Hoseok’s rut, but smelling his omega’s pheromones was enough to make him insane. He looks at Hyungwon whose eyes were clouded with lust.

“Ugh...Hyungwonnie,” Hoseok groans as he buries his face in the omega’s neck. Hyungwon watches as Hoseok struggles to control his inner Alpha. His eyes kept switching between blue and golden and soon Hyungwon’s had enough.

“Claim me, Alpha,” he whimpers. “Mate me. Knot me. Make love to me. Show the world who I belong to,” Hyungwon whimpers as he feels his self-lubrication dripping out of him.

Immediately, Hoseok’s eyes are back to his blue.

“Are you sure?” he asks as he lays the younger down gently.

“Hmm,” Hyungwon hums and that’s all it takes for Hoseok to lose control.

“I’ll make sure you see heaven today,” the Alpha growls.

And with that, the Alpha began to slowly mark his territory, making sure to savour the taste and the feeling of his mate whimpering under him.

The next morning, Hyungwon woke up to a sharp pain in his back. The memories from the previous night come flooding back and he groaned, snuggling closer to his mate’s chest. He closes his eyes, about to fall asleep again before he hears his mate chuckle.

Hyungwon peeks one eye open to look at his mate who was using his one free arm to shield his eyes from the sun. The other arm was under Hyungwon’s head. The Alpha smiled at Hyungwon when he saw the other staring at him.

“Morning, love, how’re you feeling?”

“Tired, and sore,” Hyungwon mumbles as he buries his face in Hoseok’s neck.

“Let’s go find everyone else. They’re probably wondering if we’re alive or not,” Hoseok says as he sits up, letting the blanket fall down to his hips, making Hyungwon blush and look away.

Hoseok smiles at his mate’s shyness and quickly gets dressed. He helped Hyungwon out of bed and helped him get dressed.

“We’ll go to the lake to clean off, and then we can meet the others,” Hoseok says and he grabs a clean pair of clothes for Hyungwon. He was going to wear his clothes from yesterday as he didn’t smell too much, but Hyungwon, on the other hand, smelt completely like sex.

Hoseok carried his mate bridal style to the lake where both of them washed up behind a big tree where no one but the Head Alpha was allowed to go.

Once they were cleaned and changed, Hoseok leads Hyungwon back to the pack, where they meet the Hyunwoo, Minhyuk, Jooheon and Changkyun. Kihyun was still busy in the nursery, so he wasn’t there.

“So, are you guys feeling any better?” Hyunwoo asks and Hoseok nods.

“Yeah. A lot better. Thanks, hyung,” Hoseok says, feeling extremely thankful and he was in fact very thankful for the older male.

Not only had he basically taught them how to save each other, but he was also the one who had brought Hyungwon to him.

“Thanks a lot, hyung,” Hoseok and Hyungwon say, both feeling blessed to have found each other.

Even if they had risked each other’s lives, they were still eternally thankful for finding each other, after all, they were now mated for life, and they had the rest of forever for themselves.

And it was all thanks to Hyunwoo that they met.

Hyungwon was the boy who had cried wolf, and Hoseok had been the wolf that had managed to steal Hyungwon’s heart without much of a hassle, but Hyungwon didn’t mind.

After all, he loved Hoseok with all his heart.

The one that had been stolen by his one and only.
