Empty Rooms

By gabrielsangel79

Poetry

Empty Rooms

Empty rooms echoing the silence of my lonely thoughts

Rooms once so full of life and warmth, now cold and unwelcoming.

The Great Brain is gone to fulfil its desire of solitude and study

And I am plunged again into the void created by its absence.

All I am left with are missing pieces that had become so familiar;

The violin case, the myriad of pipes, the Persian slipper filled with tobacco

Have become all just figments in my memory of days gone by

For they have accompanied you to your new place in life away from me.

You went without saying so much as a farewell either personally or in writing,

Yet I cannot blame you for I know how much you despise goodbyes.

There is only one more thing left for me to say,

Goodbye and good luck my friend and may you find what you are looking for.

The slightly archaic ones like "whilst" make this resemble a fairytale. The entire idea of a prose poem is brilliant. I didn't get the ending at first, but ...

Telling me her stories and struggles and how this person handled them and how they worked or how they kept trying; but all...

Pamela40: This author has hit the nail on the coffin.. Their words just speak to you in so many ways on the various relationships we encounter as we journey through life. I would love to read more even a book of their poetry. This is a modern spin on Maya Angelou's boldness when she expressed herself. Ju...

Laraine Smith: I was also a victim of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse by my father. One time, he threatened to beat me with a belt. This story enabled me to talk about it. Thank you. :)
