Holly Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone

Platform Nine and Three-Quarters

My last month with the Dursley’s has been interesting. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon pretended I was invisible, which isn’t all that bad if I think about it. Dot has been a little nicer to me but not by much. I mostly stayed in my room with Floare and Hedwig, that’s what I named my new owl friend. I found the name in ‘A History of Magic’, I’ve read my school books about three times already. Hedwig and Floare have become close friends already, I’m glad they’re getting along, Floare says that the other animals don’t talk to her because she’s a fox or because she’s a house pet. On the last day of August, I was packing my school books then looked at Floare

“I guess I should go talk to Uncle Vernon, huh?” I asked her as Hedwig flow in

‘Not unless you know how to drive overnight.’ Floare told me

‘Or grow wings.’ Hedwig added

“Oh alright,” I said rolling my eyes, then walked downstairs, they were watching a quiz show on TV. I cleared my throat “Uncle Vernon?” He grunted I’ll take that as his listening “I, um, need to be at King’s Cross tomorrow. Can a get a ride?” He grunted again, I’ll take that as a yes, “Thank you, I have to be there before eleven.” I turned to leave

“Funny way to get to a wizards school, the train. Magic carpets all got punctures, have they? Where is this school?” Uncle Vernon asked and I realize I don’t know.

“The ticket just says to take the train from platform nine and three-quarters at eleven o’clock.”

“Platform what?”

“Nine and three-quarters.”

“Don’t talk rubbish. There are no platform nine and three-quarters.”

“That’s what it says.”

“Barking, howling mad, the lot of them. You’ll see, you just wait. All right, we’ll take you to King’s Cross. We’re going to London tomorrow anyway, or I wouldn’t bother.”

“Why are you going to London?”

“Daddy thinks I need a therapist,” Dot told me then stood up, “Come on I’ll help you pack.” Wait, what?

“You want to help me?” She nodded as we walked out “Maybe you do need a therapist.” Dot rolled her eyes then started pushing me

“Come on, I want to be done before dinner, freak.” There she is. We got into my room and got to work. I put my stuff in my trunk as Dot read off the school list. As I packed my carry on, Dot packed my clothes and even laid out an outfit for me

“Why are you touching my clothes?” I looked to see she had lade out my purple tank top with a broken heart on it, a pair of dark jeans, my black knee-high boots, and my dark green jacket.

“You want to make a good first impression and you don’t want to walk around King’s Cross in your uniform.” She closed up my trunk as I finished my carry on. I turned to see Dot holding my wand “It’s pretty.” She handed it to me, I took it then put it in my carry on bag. “I’m sorry,” I looked at her in shock

“What?”

“For what daddy said at the lighthouse, I didn’t know that’s why they didn’t like you. It wasn’t right for daddy to say it was a good thing they were dead.”

“Why do you hate me?”

“I don’t hate you, I just thought that’s what I had to do. My parents picked on you so I thought I had to too and I’m sorry about that.” I stared at her

“Ok, who are you and what have you done to my cousin?” She laughed,

“Hey, don’t get me wrong, you’re still a freak. Just the cooler type of freak.” I rolled my eyes as we walked down to dinner. The next morning I woke up at five, so I took a shower, got dressed, dried my hair then put my dad’s hat on with my hair throw the opening in the back, I put on my locket then put on my boots, placing my wand in my right boot, you can’t even see it’s there. I took my stuff down the stairs then started breakfast. The smell of coffee will wake up Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon and the waffles will wake up Dot. After everyone had woken up and had breakfast, I loaded my stuff into the car as everyone got dressed. I walked back up to my room, made sure Hedwig was shut safely in her cage and that Floare was in my carry on with Annie, my toy deer. I walked downstairs with both and put them in the car

“Got everything?” I heard Dot ask, I stood up to see she was wearing a white button-up, white dress pants, and a pink dress jacket. Her hair was in a tight bun

“Ya, nice outfit,”

“Mummy said I had to look professional for the therapist.”

“Ok, let’s go.” Uncle Vernon said as he and Aunt Patuna walked out of the house. We reached King’s Cross

“See you next summer.” I waved bye to Dot then closed the door as Uncle Vernon put my trunk onto a cart and wheeled it into the station.

‘What’s he up too?’ Floare asked

“I don’t know but it’s not good,” I told her as we walked in after him, he stopped

“Well, there you are, girl. Platform nine, platform ten. Your platform should be somewhere in the middle, but they don’t seem to have built it yet, do they?” Uncle Vernon asked me with a smug look on his face. I know there was a reason he came in. “Have a good term,” And with that, he left me standing there, isn’t that child abandonment? Whatever there has to be a way to get to platform nine and three-quarters. I took off my hat then put my hair in a bun then put my hat back on to hold it there. I looked around trying to find a way to the platform, I mean the wizarding world has to be kept a secret, right? So maybe there’s a secret way to get in

“Too bad Hagrid forgot to tell me,” I muttered to myself as I sled down to the floor

“Packed with Muggles, of course,” I heard from the other side. I looked to one side to see boys with red hair go by, I quickly crawled to the other side to see a plump woman who was talking to four boys, they all had flaming red hair, a simpler trunk, and an owl!

“Yes,” I sprong to my feet and pushed my cart after them when they stopped I stopped just far enough to hear.

“Now, what’s the platform number?”

“Nine and three-quarters!” A small girl said, all pippy like. “Mum, can’t I go-”

“You’re not old enough, Ginny, now be quiet. All right, Percy, you go first.” The oldest, I think, marched toward platforms nine and ten. I did my best not to blink but just as the boy reached the barrier a large crowd of people came swarming in front of him and when they cleared out the boy was gone.

“What?” I asked myself

“Fred, you next,”

“I’m not Fred, I’m George,” One of the twins said “Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother? Can’t you tell I’m George?”

“Sorry, George, dear.” The boy stepped forward

“Only joking I am Fred,” The boy said then went towards the barrier only to disappear- into it? I rubbed my eyes as his twin followed behind, maybe I should go ask? I took a breath then welled up to them

“E-Excuse me?” I asked the women

“Hello, dear, first time at Hogwarts?” She asked I nodded

“Yes, ma’am. The thing is, I don’t know how to-” God I feel stupid for not knowing this

“How to get onto the platform?” I nodded “Not to worry, all you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Don’t stop and don’t be scared you’ll crash into it, that’s very important. Best do it at a bit of a run if you’re nervous. Go on, go now before Ron.”

“Oh, um, ok.” I pushed my trolley around and stared at the barrier.

‘You can do this.’ Hedwig reassured me, I took a deep breath and started to walk towards the barrier. I walked more quickly, I was starting to worry, I closed my eyes, waiting for the crash. But it never came, I opened my eyes to see a scarlet steam engine was waiting next to a platform packed with people. I slowed down then wheeled out of the way of the barrier

“Wow,” I looked at the steam engine, it had a sign that said Hogwarts Express, eleven o’clock. I looked up at the archway where the barrier had been, it said ‘Platform Nine and Three-Quarters’ “We made it girls,” I looked around as I pushed my cart down the platform for an empty compartment, once I did I put Hedwig and Floare in it then started to heave my trunk up the steps but it was being stubborn. “Come on,”

“Need some help?” I looked up to see a girl with brown hair and ivy green eyes, she was with one of the red-haired twins I followed into the barrier

“Y-Yes, please,”

“Oy, Fred! C’mere and help!” The boy yelled, then his twin came over, they all helped me put my trunk in a corner of the compartment.

“Thanks,” I pushed my bangs away from my eyes

“What’s that?” The first twin asked pointing to my forehead, my scar! I put my bangs back in place

“Blimey, are you?” The other twin, Fred, started

“She is, aren’t you?”

“Guy’s don’t make the poor thing self-conses.” The girl told them

“But are you? Are you Holly Potter?” The second twin asked

“Ya, so?” I asked, not really wanting an answer, he was going to say something else but a voice from outside interrupted him

“Fred? George? Are you there?”

“Coming, Mum!” The twins looked at me then waved bye

“Sorry about them,” The girl said to me, “I’m Ivy, a third-year.” She stuck out her hand, I took it

“Holly but I guess you already know that.” She shrugged her shoulders then dropped my hand then walked up to the window. I joined her and saw the red-haired family

“You know what I know about you, Holly?” I looked at her, she just looked at the family then turned to give me a sad smile at me “I know that you lost the two most impotent people in your life and all anyone remembers is how you stopped You-Know-Who but the thing you remember is losing them. Am I right?” I looked at the family and nodded, “I know how you feel, my mum was killed by one of You-Know-Who’s minions and my dad is in jail for something he didn’t do.” I looked at her again. She put a finger to her lips “Don’t tell anyone, ok?” I nodded then she walked out. “It was nice meeting you.” I waved as she diapered into the hall.

‘She was nice.’ Floare said as she popped up

“Ya,”

‘Hey, where’s your hat?!’

“What?” I reached up, not feeling my dad’s hat, “Oh, no!” I looked around then ran off the train and looked around but I didn’t see it “No, no, no,” I ran a hand through my hair

“Excuse me?” A voice said from behind me, I turned to see the youngest red-haired brother “Um, is this what you’re looking for?” He held up my hat and I sighed in relief, then took it. “It fell off when you entered the barrier.” I put my hair throw the back putting it on.

“Thanks,” I turned to re-enter the train

“Um,” I turned back to him, “Are, um, are you,” I took a step back “are you, um,” He looked like he was going to pass out. I snapped my fingers in front of his face making him jump a little

“Breath kid, I’m nothing special.” I walked up the steps then went back to my compartment. I sat and looked out the window at the family then the whistle blow, everyone that was going said their goodbyes then got on. The train pulled out of the stain, I wonder how far Hogwarts is? Floare moved to lay on my lap as I watched houses flash by then the door opened to show the youngest red-headed boy. “Hello again,”

“Um, hi, do you mind if I join you? Everywhere else is full.” I smiled then motioned for him to go ahead. “Thanks,” He sat down

“Hey, Ron.” I heard from the door, I looked over to see the twins again. “Listen, we’re going down to see Lee Jordan’s giant tarantula.”

“Right,”

“Holly,” The other said getting my attention “did we introduce ourselves?” I shook my head “Sorry, I’m Fred and this is George. That’s Ron, our brother.”

“Come on you guys, if we’re going to see the tarantula then we should go before Lee puts him up.” Ivy told them then waved at me “Hi Holly!” I waved back at her when she took George’s hand, making him blush, and dragged him off

“See you guys later,”

“Bye,” Ron and I said at the same time. I looked out the window

“Are you really Holly Potter?” Ron asked, I shrugging my shoulders, “So, does that mean you have- you know- the-” He pointed to my forehead. I took off my hat then moved my bangs to show him “Wow, so that’s where-”

“Ya,” I told him quickly as I covered it up

“Do you, remember?”

“I remember a green light and-” My mother’s scream

“And?”

“That’s it,”

“Oh, wow,” After a few moments I looked up to see him quickly look out the window “I’m sorry,” I shrugged my shoulders

“Are all your family wizards?” Ron looked at me surprised

“Er- Yes, I think so, I think Mum’s got a second cousin who’s an accountant, but we never talk about him.”

“So you must be pretty good at magic.” He shrugged

“I heard you went to live with Muggles, what are they like?”

“You know what hell is?” He nodded “Like that, don’t get me wrong there are good Muggles, but my aunt and uncle. Don’t get me started. So you just have the three brothers and one sister?”

“One sister yes, but I have five brothers. I’m the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts.”

“Wow,”

“Ya, I’ve got a lot to live up to. Bill and Charlie have already left. Bill was head boy, Charlie was captain of Quidditch, and now Percy’s a perfect. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they’re really funny.”

“They seem like the type that would get into a lot of trouble.”

“You don’t know the half of it,” We laughed, then Floare work up with a yawn “Is- Is that a fox?”

“Yep, this is Floare, I’ve had her since she was a pup.” I scratched behind her ear

“Wow, an owl and a fox. That’s so much cooler then Percy’s old rat.” Ron reached inside his jacket and pulled out a fat gray rat, which was asleep. “His name’s Scabber’s and he’s useless. The only thing he does is sleep,” I noticed that Ron’s ears went pink.

“There’s nothing wrong with him, he’s probably just tired.” Floare moved to the spot next to me

“All the time?” I shrugged my shoulders then we both laughed. I think I’m starting to like this kid, platonically, that is. And I don’t know how but he got me telling him about my life’s story.

“And if it wasn’t for Hagrid, I wouldn’t have known about me being a witch or my parents or Voldemort-” Ron gasped and looked pale. “What?”

“You said You-Know-Who’s name! I thought you of all people-”

“Freeze!” He stopped talking “Look, I’m not trying to be brave or anything like that. I just don’t want to live in fear of a name, of someone I don’t remember. Don’t get me wrong, of course, I’m scared but I’m not going to let that fear keep me from doing anything.”

‘That’s my girl,’ I heard Floare say, half asleep.

“Wow,” Ron said, damn and here I thought I was making a friend, why did I have to open my big- “That’s kind of cool.” Wait? What? “Now, I’m not all that brave, but I do think that you’re pretty brave to stay true to yourself like that.”

“Um, thanks,” I blushed a little, just then the door slid open. We looked up to see a nice old woman with a cart.

“Anything off the cart, dears?” She asked, I got up and looked at what she had. I have no idea what any of this is or if it’s good. There were Bettie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs. Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands, and a lot of other things. I looked at Ron, who had a lumpy looking package

“Hey?” He looked up, “You want something?” He looked surprised

“No, that’s okay,” He told me, I put a hand on my hip, pointing with the other next to me

“Dude, get your butt over here, I’m buying.” He blushed a little then put his package down, he joined my side. “So, what’s good?”

“Well, the Every Flavored Bean are pretty good,” I picked up two

“Ok, what next?”

“The Chocolate Frogs and Pumpkin Pasties are really good.”

“Cool, grab a few,” He grabbed about six of each as I grab the blowing gum. “This any good?”

“My sister enjoys it, I’m not a gum person.” I grabbed four packs for later as Ron grabbed some licorice wands as I looked at the drinks

“Lemonnaida?” Like lemonade?

“Oh, can you get me a sour?” I looked to see two different colors, a pink one, and a green one. I pulled out one of both the green one was sour and the pink was sweet. I stood up

“That should be good,” I paid the women

“Enjoy, dears,” The women said as she went on her why

“Thank you,” I closed the door, right before Floare made her escape. “And where do you think you’re going?” I picked her up

‘Come on, I’m getting cabin fever, I wanna look around.’ She told me as I put her on the seat

“We haven’t been here that long, so chill!” I whispered to her

“Did you say something?” Ron asked

“Nope! So were do we start?” We sat on the floor talking and eating, “So, Chocolate Frogs? They’re not really frogs, right?” He laughed a little, shaking his head no

“No, but see what the card is. I’m missing Agrippa.” I raised an eyebrow then opined it, I picked up the card to see a man with half-moon glasses, he had a long, crooked nose, and flowing silver hair, beard, and mustache. Underneath the picture was the name Albus Dumbledore.

“Dumbledore, cool!” I ate the chocolate frog as I read the back.

“Dang I’ve got Morgana again, you want it? I’ve got about six of her.”

“Sure, thanks!” I took it as Ron looked at the pile of Chocolate Frogs. “Have at it,” I motioned to the pile, I looked down to see that Dumbledore was gone. “Where did he go?”

“What’s wrong?”

“Dumbledore, he’s gone.”

“You sound surprised? Dang,” He handed me another card

“Photos don’t move in the Muggle world.”

“They don’t move at all? Weird!” I opened a bag of Every Flavored Bean. “Be careful with those, when they say every flavor, they mean every flavor. You know you get all the ordinary ones like chocolate and peppermint and marmalade, but then you can get spinach and liver and tripe. George reckons he had a booger-flavored one once.”

“Gross,” Ron picked up a green bean, looked at it closely, and took a small bit then made a funny face

“Sprouts!” I laughed behind my hand. I trade a few as we talked. After an hour or two, there was a knock on the door. We turned to see a round-faced boy, he looked tearful.

“Sorry, but have you seen a toad at all?” He asked we shook our heads no. “I’ve lost him! He keeps getting away from me!” I kinda feel bad for him, I got up

“Hey, it’s gonna be ok, I’m sure he’ll turn up. Did you check in your compartment?” I asked him, he nodded wrapping the tires out of his eyes. “Maybe you should check again, I mean he couldn’t have gotten fare right?”

“Your right, he’s probably under the seats and I missed him.” And with that, he walked out. I took my seat on the floor

“I don’t know why he’s so bothered. If I’d brought a toad I’d lose it as quickly as I could. Mind you, I brought Scabbers, so I can’t talk.” Ron said looking down at the snoozing rat on his lap

“Think he’s dead?” I asked jokingly

“I wouldn’t be surprised,” He laughed “Wanna see me turn him yellow?”

“Um, ya!” He rummaged around his trunk and pulled out a very battered-looking wand.

“Ok,” He had just raised his wand when the door slid opened. The toadless boy was back but he was with a girl who was already wearing her robes.

“Couldn’t find him, huh?” The boy shook his head, I sighed

“Oh, are you doing magic? Let’s see it, then.” The girl said. She had a bossy sort of voice, she’s gonna be fun.

“Can you close the door first, please?” I went to pick up Floare

“Why?”

“Because-” Right before I could get a hold on her, she bolted “Floare, no!” She ran out of the door. “That’s why!” I ran past the girl and boy “Did you see which way she went?”

“No, sorry,” The boy told me

“Damn,” I muttered under my breath

“We’ll find her Holly, don’t worry,” Ron told me closing the door,

“Holly? As in Holly Potter?” The girl asked, double damn. I turned towards Ron

“You go that way, I’ll go this way. And don’t hesitate to pick her up, she’ll bolt-on you any chance she’ll get.”

“Right,” Ron told me “She won’t bite me, right?”

“Just don’t pull her tail and you’ll be fine.” And with that, we went to look for Floare

“I can’t believe she ran out like that,”

“Hey, wait!” I heard the girl say from behind, I groaned and rolled my eyes

“What do you want? I’m a little busy.”

“Are you really Holly Potter?”

“Say it a little louder, girly I don’t think they heard you on the other side of the train.”

“So you are?” I stopped, sighed, then looked at her

“So what?”

“I’m Hermione Granger, it’s a pleaser to meet you. I’ve read all about you in Modern Magical History, The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts, and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century.”

“I am?” Great...

“Goodness didn’t you know, I’d have found out everything I could if it was me,”

“Well, I’m not you. Don’t you have a toad to find?” I really want this girl to leave me alone, I don’t want to talk about the past

“Your right, thank you for reminding me,” And with that, she speed-walked away

“Finally, now I can focus,” I started down the train car again, looking in open doors, and asking other students. Where is she...

~Floare’s POV~

Maybe I should head back, Holly’s probably worried. I turned around only to be picked up

“Well, hello there,” I looked up to see a boy with bleach blonde hair. “And who do you belong too?” He looked for a collar “Hmm,” He looked at me then tucked me into his robe, near he’s the chest. He then walked into a room, where a girl with short bleach blonde hair was reading “Diana, can I take one of your ribbons?”

“Why?” The girl asked not looking up from her book.

“Because I need one,” She sighed

“Take one of the purple ones,”

“Thank you,” The boy went into a bag then pulled out a purple ribbon, he exited the room then tied the ribbon around my neck. “There you go,” And with that, he started walking trades the duration of Holly

~Holly’s POV~

I should have caught up with her by now! I looked into another compartment

“Excuse me, have you seen a red fox ran throw here?” I asked the two boys, they shook their heads. “Ok, thanks anyway,” I left them alone when I bumped into someone’s back “I’m sorry,”

“Sorry about that- oh hey,” I looked up to see the boy from Diagon Alley and Floare!

“Hey, you found Floare,”

“She’s yours huh, I found her wandering around.” He handed her to me

“Thanks, she darted out the door the first chance she got.” I took her then noticed the purple bow

“I hope you don’t mind, I didn’t want someone confusing her because she didn’t have a collar.”

“Wow, thanks, ”

“I didn’t have the chance to interiors myself in Diagon Ally. I’m Draco, Draco Malfoy, you are?” He shook out his hand, I took it

“Holly, Holly Potter.” He looked a little surprised

“Wait, really?” We let go, I nodded then pushed my bangs out of my eyes just enough for him to see my scar for a second. “Woah,” I shrugged my shoulders

“Well, thanks, I’ll see you later.” I turned to walk away

“Wait?” I turned to look at him, “Um,” His ears turned slightly pink, “You wanna hang out before we get to Hogwarts?” I smiled at him

“Sure, come on.” We walked down the car door until we got to mine and Ron’s compartment.

“Holly!” Ivy came to us “Oh good, you found Floare. Ron told us she ran out.” Ivy scratched Floare under her chin, making her purr.

“Ya, I’m just lucky Draco found her before someone else or I might not have seen her again.”

‘I get it, I’m sorry I ran off.’ Floare said to me as Ron and his brothers came up, but stopped short when they saw Draco

“Malfoy,” Ron said glaring at Draco

“Hi, Ron,” Draco said sleeplessly “How’s your sister?” Ron crossed his arms

“Fine, yours?”

“Same,” I looked between the two

“Well, now that it’s super awkward, how do you guys know each other?” I asked as I walked into our compartment.

“My dad works under he’s,” Ron told me as I tidied up and Draco sat down across from Ron.

“So, Malfoy, how do you know our little Holly?” Ivy asked sitting next to him. The twins sat next to Ron

“We met in Dagnall Allay,” Draco told her

“At Madam Malkin’s,” I took a seat next to Draco, Floare moved to Draco’s lap. “Wow,”

“What?”

“She usually doesn’t sit on just anyone’s lap. She must like you,” Draco smiled down at Floare then scratched under her neck, making her purr. We all talked for a while when Ivy looked out the window

“Looks like we’re almost there, we should go change.” She told us as she stands, she and the twins walk out as Draco hands me Floare

“I should head back before Diana comes looking.” He told me

“I’ll show you out while Ron changes,” I told him as I stood, we walked out closing the door behind me. Ron closed the curtains as we walked away, “So, by Ron’s reaction, I’m guessing your dad and his don’t get along?” Draco sighed as he leaned against the wall

“My dad’s not the easiest man to get along with. He believes that our bloodline is strong because we’re purebloods thro and thro.”

“Purebloods?”

“You know centuries of Wizards and Witches with no Muggles in the mix.”

“I see, so do you agree with that?”

“I use to, but-”

“But?” I leaned against the wall next to him

“When I was younger, I saw a Muggle get his mind erased so he wouldn’t marry a witch. I didn’t think it was fair.” I could see he was uneasy, I nudged him with my shoulder making him smile a little, “I should go,” He walked off as Ron opened the door

“Your turn Holly, I gotta go ask Fred something.” He told me as I walked in

“K,” I closed the door and locked it then changed, I was fusing with the skirt when there was a knock on the door

“Holly, it’s me, can I come in?” I heard Ivy say from the other side. I started the skirt then went to let her in, she was in her uniform, but had a red and gold tie on “Having trouble?”

“That obvious?” She chuckled then closed the door behind her then she helped me with the rest.

“There,”

“Thanks, I’m not one for skirts and dresses.” I put my clothes away then put my hair up in a high ponytail,

“We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes’ time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately. ” A voice anodized thro the train,

“That’s my que, I’ll see you up there,” Ivy said before leaving, I looked out the window

‘You ready for this?’ Floare asked I looked at her, giving her a nod then picked up my bag she was in. Covering it with my clock

“Come on, Holly!” I looked up to see Ron,

“I’m coming,” I said following behind him
