Ahsoka Tano didn’t want to believe it.
She just couldn’t.
But she had to believe that the Sith Lord named Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker.
Her former master.
And best friend... gone.
She wished she could bring him back and this would all just be a bad dream.
Except it wasn’t.
It was real and there was nothing she could do about it. Feeling sorrowful and exhausted she lays down on her bed and drifts off thinking of a happier time.
You must be Ahsoka.
A voice says to her.
“Who’s there?” She jolts up in her bed looking around for the source of the voice.
My name is Qui-Gon Jinn.
The voice says again.
Qui-Gon Jinn? She thinks to herself.
“You sound familiar...” Where had she heard that name before?
“You were Obi-wan’s master!” She exclaims.
Yes I was.
“Why have you come to me?”
The Chosen One... you know him better as your master: Anakin Skywalker. He has fallen to the dark side and I believe that you can bring him back.
There was a way to bring Anakin back?
I believe that you can do it. I have heard great things about you, Ahsoka. How you followed your heart and used your emotions without ever falling to the dark side. You survived when many others fell, and you never restricted yourself to a certain path in life, and yet you helped so many people throughout your life using your experience and smart judgement to get through everything that was thrown in your path.
Ahsoka knew that she had survived through many rough moments in her life, but never thought about how far she had come.
I will take you back to the time when I knew Anakin personally.
“How is that possible?” She wondered.
Through the Force anything is possible. You will have until sunset to find him.
His voice faded away, and it was all calm and quiet again.
But only for a moment.
Ahsoka suddenly found herself on the desert planet, Tatooine. She recalls the memory of one of her earlier missions with Anakin here when she had just become his padawan. The suns were just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow across the sand. She then remembers that she needed to find Anakin before sundown and quickly heads off. After walking in the desert for some time, she comes across a space port. The savory aroma of bantha steak draws her to one of the many food stands scattered along the street in the marketplace. Ahsoka didn’t realize how hungry she was until she saw the tender steak sizzling on the grill.
Qui-gon’s voice snapped at her when she had picked up the sliced meat.
You don’t have much time.
Ahsoka sighs and continues down the path. She knew that Master Jinn was right. It was already noon and she had no clue where Anakin was.
“Can’t you just tell me where he is?” She says in a frustrated tone.
I’m afraid that I cannot, Ahsoka. Only my past self knows where he is. You must let the Force guide you to him.
Taking in a deep breath, she concentrates on her surroundings, searching for any clues that may lead her to Anakin. Suddenly she feels a dark presence she has not felt in a while.
It felt familiar.
Ahsoka quickly follows the Force leading her into the middle of the desert. The suns were at their highest peak now, their piercing rays penetrating through her thick cloak but, even though she was tired she kept pushing herself knowing that there was a once in a lifetime chance that could easily slip out of her grasp. She could warn Anakin and prevent him from falling to the dark side. The presence felt stronger signaling that she was close.
“Qui-gon, sir! Wait! I’m tired!” A small voice yells.
The familiar voice said ‘Qui-gon’
Ahsoka thinks to herself.
It must be Anakin!
She looks up to see Master Jinn running to a bright silver ship with a small blonde boy.
“Anakin, drop!” Qui-gon yells as a speeder flies over the boy’s head. “Go!” He shouts at the boy, who Ahsoka identified as young Anakin Skywalker, quickly picks himself up and sprints towards the ship. A figure in a dark cloak jumps off the speeder and begins to battle Qui-gon. The figure seemed oddly familiar but, Ahsoka couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Who could it be?
Ignoring the darkness of the Force radiating off of the mysterious person, she runs after the young Anakin, catching up to him before he reaches the ship.
“Wait! Anakin!” She cries, overwhelmed by seeing her lost master again even if he was in a different form that she could not recognize.
Anakin stops in his tracks and turns to face her with a confused look on his face.
“Who are you?” he asks.
“There’s no time to explain.” She says as she glances over at the setting suns anxiously. “I must warn you about something before you go. You will meet a man named Sheev Palpatine. Whatever you do, do not trust him.”
“I won’t.” he promises and runs off.
“I’ll see you later, Skyguy.”
