Jungkook stood in middle of the line of students hurling in front of the librarian’s desk, to renew their library cards.

He furrowed his eyebrows. Normally, there won’t be such a huge crowd in the library. He, himself, is here to get a library card. He never had one, because he didn’t think it was necessary.

But, this year, apparently, he’s actually planning to get a card, because there are a lot of useful books in here he might need later in this semester. He would’ve gotten a card earlier, but their old librarian retired. So, the library was closed by university authority, trying to find new recruit.

I guess they finally found someone, Jungkook thought to himself, as his turn came. He came face to face with the new librarian, who flashed him a smile, saying, “Give me your old card, and, I’ll replace it with a new one.”

Jungkook felt all air knock out of his lungs. This new librarian was, how to put this, ethereally radiant. He now understood why there was such a big crowd. He tried to breathe some oxygen in, as he replied, “Uh- Uhm, I’m actually here for a new card. Like, a very first one, because I don’t have one.”

“Oh, you should’ve said so. Hang on, I’ll get a form. You have a pen, right?” The new guy asked him, staring right at his eyes.

Jungkook felt blood rush to his cheeks, as he tried to focus on speaking, “Huh? Yeah, I- I have one.”

Cute, the librarian thought to himself, focusing on finding the form. Jungkook took the chance, and tried to read the librarian’s ID. Kim Taehyung, 23, Jungkook hummed to himself, sinking the information in.

The new guy, Taehyung, handed him a form, and Jungkook tried not to focus on how slender and long his fingers were. He filled the form in his best handwriting, handing it back, cheeks tinted, and heart fluttering. In return, he got a card.

“Read often... Jungkook,” Taehyung said, looking up his name from the form and passing a smile. Jungkook looked up with soft brown eyes one last time to stare at his eyes, face, drinking it all in, before he nodded and finally left the line.

Walking out of the library, Jungkook stared at his brand new library card, smiling to himself. Reading’s gonna be a whole lot more enjoyable.
